Episode1
POV: Silvia
“My Dearest“ were the words of Mr. James, Silvia's Uncle. Silvia's feet rested on the floor which didn't want to move. How could she? Her uncle's grip on her waist was one which a girl her age can't fight against. Words were not forthcoming, the look on his face was those you could call ‘smirk’. Then over there was the door, which saved her yet again.
“Silvia, can you come and help me unpack?” her Aunt Joy said, a light-skinned lady with an appeasing feature and facial. Silvia's legs were as swift as her brains.
That night, her eyes were awake, she thought deeply to understand how it started. “It should be on my 15th birthday.” Her thoughts were interrupted by a creepy movement from her door. James gave in to the demon in him as a Man, the tears that rolled out of Silvia's eyes were of pain, hatred and betrayal. Screaming didn't change anything, so she didn't give way to it. Of course, that wasn't the first nor would it be the last.
“Always sweet, I am sure Mr. Bello will come back for more, if he tastes you,” James says. The sobbing Silvia didn't read the meaning of his words. She just wanted one question answered: "When will this end?” She expected silence, but got an answer.
“You belong to me, Silvia, you're nothing without me and your aunt, so it only stops if I say so." Crying meant nothing, as if a normal routine. Silvia went to the bathroom and looked at her face, fetched some water and went to take her bath. God knows how much time she spent scrubbing what she called ‘dirt’. The pillow became her solid rock blanket, her consoling friend.
“Aunt, I would like to tell you something, but promise me you will believe me.” Silvia wanted to put an end to her nightmares.
Her aunt nodded, waiting for a response. Just as Silvia's lips were about to spill, Mr. James walked in, the smile on his face was contagious. Mr. James was a frisky young man, dark-skinned. You could say his personality carried an aura.
“Babe, did I get the news right? A smile also found its way to Joy's face as they hugged. Silvia was propelled to leave. Her ears got the information: Her Aunt was pregnant! Could this be the redemption she prayed for? The feelings were mixed, From a distance, you could picture Silvia as a threat to a happy couple, but could you see a young girl in between or on edge with happiness and sadness?
POV: Nelson
Having lunch in the Mcmanuel family was one of their traditions. Mrs Gloria alongside her son, Nelson, had conversations as they ate at a massive dining table which was decorated with food a family of 2 couldn't finish. Some of their words made them feel the absence of their leader, husband and father, Mr Mcmanuel.
“Mom, I will be leaving early for a business trip tomorrow, don't call me every 5th second,” those words brought an adoring look from his mother, ‘her lion’ she calls him, the only heir to his father's property. She always feels peace when she knows that he doesn't have to gnash his teeth like his father did. Just then Arike, Nelson's girlfriend, a dazzling beauty, came back, she greeted Mrs. Gloria, who asked after her mother. After the pleasantries, Arike had her way with Nelson and they both headed to his room.
“Babe, I couldn't find my Gold bracelet. I thought I had left it here, not finding it now makes me believe I lost it to that ill-mannered girl,” Arike said.
The scenario played on Nelson's head, he was lost in that memory. What amused him was that he was aware he was drawn to that lady, a feeling he had never felt for any woman. The lady's words were harsh but sounded like melodies to Nelson's eardrums. The thought of it, brought a smile to his face.
“Are my words funny, Nelson?” Arike asked, which brought Nelson back from his fantasies.
“Don't worry your pretty head about such, I myself will get you another gold bracelet. “
Those words excited Arike, she took off her shoes and headed to the bathroom.
“ Can you prove that I stole from you? Where's your proof? Is it because you guys have affluence, and you think you can treat me as your sole desire?”
“How dare you talk to me ……..”
“I can talk to you in any way I seem fit, which you can also do, if you have a reason, in this state I've got, so you would listen to me and get your attitude straight.
“Arike, let's go, she looks more like your younger sister. Don't further disgrace yourself and your boyfriend”.
Those conversations played on Nelson's head, looking at him, trying to forget the face of the one that melted his heart. He was disappointed when Arike’s friend, Nosa, had to convince Arike against the argument which warranted the girl to walk away.
