The cab drove away, and Blake didn't say anything to me. He just pointed behind me and started to rub his hands together. I cautiously turned around, and my eyes widened at sight! We were standing outside of a club, and the sign read Elitist. This club has been in Manhattan for as long as I have been here. I would assume the club has been here much longer, but it just looked so new. Elitist was the most elite club in all of Manhattan, which by name described it perfectly. No one got into this club except for Manhattan's finest elite of billionaires, socialites, and celebrities. "NO f*****g WAY!" I squealed when I turned to Blake. "Told you this production was big! They are having a cast party here tonight!"  Blake was just as excited as I was to be at this club. We tried to work our way in when I passed my doctorate exam, but that wasn't elite enough. Whoever owned the club had to be one of Manhattan's finest to know who was elite enough to be granted access. "Wait, if it is a cast party, I shouldn't be here," I said to Blake. "Are you kidding me! As if I would want anyone else on my arm," he locked my arm with his and walked us to the door. My throat tightened the closer we got to the door because that one night of shame was enough for a lifetime.      I didn't want to be cast aside from this club for a second time. Blake gave his name, and the bouncer looked at him then at me. I let all the fear fade from my face and put my badass look on, hitching my hand on my hip as I squeezed Blake's hand tightly. The bouncer didn't ask who I was, he just opened the door and told us where to go. Once we were in the club, I couldn't help but let my mouth drop open. It was gorgeous! The club had a dance floor with a live band and singer. The tables were aligned along the wall and around the dance floor. The bar pressed against the back wall that had stairs leading up to the second floor. The sign by the stairs read V.I.P. How could you get anymore V.I.P. being in this place? Then Blake leads us across the room to the stairs, giving his name again, and then we were granted access to the second floor.     I was in heaven right now! I couldn't believe that I was in the Elitist club, let alone in the V.I.P. section! Blake didn't seem like he was phased at all by what was happening right now. So, I took a deep breath to calm myself down. Tonight would be important to Blake, and I didn't want to embarrass him by acting like a squirming school girl. I looked hot, and I needed to play the part. Some yelled Blake's name, and both of our heads turned to look for where the voice came from. Blake must have known the voice because I could feel the joy course through him as we started walking towards some tables.     I stood there with our arms interlocked, and I tried to move my arm when a gentleman came up to us and held his hand out for Blake to shake. However, Blake gripped my hand tightly and shook the man's hand with his free hand. "Rick, thank you so much for having us tonight," Blake said, smiling. "Of course. I wouldn't have a cast party without my star," Rick said, smiling back. Then his head turned towards me. "Who is this gorgeous woman?" I wasn't sure how I felt by the way that this Rick guy was looking at me. He looked at me like he wanted to do things to me that I do not wish to do. Danger rolled off this guy in volumes, and it put me at unease, but I kept my shoulders back and didn't flinch. "This is Lily. I hope it is ok that I brought her. You said earlier to bring someone along." Blake stated. "Are you kidding me, of course, your girlfriend is welcome." Rick drew the word girlfriend out like it was a sour taste on his tongue. He wasn't one to believe in a commitment that I gather by the look of disdain he was giving us. "Thank you so much! This place is beautiful!" I said as I held out my hand for Rick to shake.  Rick just looked at my hand like it was a snake that was going to bit him. He didn't seem ok with women speaking without being directly addressed. I needed to cut Blake off before he corrected Rick's girlfriend's comment.     Rick seem like the type of man who preyed on women and enjoyed it, whether they were willing or not. I had enough that I was dealing with, which wasn't something I wanted to add to my plate. Rick never took my hand and just talked to Blake as if I didn't exist. I put my hand back down to my side and stood there as the two talked. Looking around to see how many people were here and I didn't see very many. I didn't want to mention anything to Blake, this was a big break for him, and I didn't want to ruin it. Rick finally stopped talking, and I used it to speak because I had to stand here silently. "Blake, let's go dance," I said, tugging at his hand gently so that Rick wouldn't see it. Blake turned to face me, and I gave him my most subtle but distinct wide-eyed look. He would know that I no longer wanted to stand here why these two chit-chatted about nothing. Blake just nodded and excused us from Rick as he led me back down the stairs.
