Thy Darkness Within

Episode 17

Holly soon arrived later and covered her mouth as she came face to face with the mutilated body which was once Mr. Child. Jay regained his bearing almost immediately as he spoke up, “we need to find John and quickly because I have a feeling… this is only the beginning.”

The town was eerily quiet as John now a full on monster jumped from building to building, every beast nearby didn’t dare to let out sound as their instincts warned them that if they did it would be the last sound they ever made. John suddenly came to a halt as he looked intently at a convenience store before him, there was Chad and his goons who were just stepping into the convenience store.

Looking at them heading into the store memories about everything they had done to him flashed through his head and an unprecedented rage seemed to cloud his eyes and the golden eyes seemed to gain a red tint to them.

Chad and his friends had popped into the convenience store to grab a few beers they had decided to have some fun that day it was a Monday and the day was sh*t to them so they decided to kick back with a few beers. They were laughing with one another messing around when they realized the cashier still wasn’t back, the cashier had heard a sound and headed out back to check it out… but that was a whole ten minutes ago and they still hadn’t heard anything from the guy.

“hey Chad why don’t we just leave, not like they got any cameras or anything” one of the guys with Chad spoke and Chad couldn’t deny he was tempted to do just that but something told him to check on the guy he had a bad feeling. “Oi! Just check on the guy” Chad spoke out his curiosity had taken over but his bad feeling prevented him from going over himself so he just sent one of his friends over.

The guy grumbled but still decided to go quickly leaping over the counter he stepped into the back, “hello anyone there” the entire place was pitch black preventing him from seeing anything but he could clearly hear heavy breathing. Summoning what little courage he had he took a step forward but stopped immediately after he could feel that he had stepped into some sort of liquid, he looked down but realized he still couldn’t see anything, raising his head back up he came face to face with two golden lights and as realization set into what exactly what they were he let out a blood curling scream.

“AAAAhhh” the boys all came to a halt hearing the scream slowly turning to the source of the sound waiting to hear something else but there was nothing but silence. The boys all shared a look with one another reaching out to grab whatever they could use as a weapon sharing a look amongst themselves they began to slowly walk towards the counter but as they got closer they began to hear disturbing sounds unable to confirm exactly what it was until they were but a step away from the counter and the sounds couldn’t be more clear to them something was munching on something else.

The boys began to hear their hearts beating rapidly with fear creeping over them like a blanket. None wanted to be the first to enter into the backroom, they began to argue as to who would be the first to enter the backroom but the sound came to an abrupt halt and along with it their argument. They began to strain their ears towards the room as they began to hear thumps as though something was coming towards them. They swallowed their spits and began to perspire madly then it stopped but that did not calm them down in the least as they tightened their grips on their weapons.

After of minute without any sounds one guy squinted into the darkness and seeing nothing turned around to the others “I think its gone.” As soon as he was done a claw came out of the darkness in a rapid fashion and all that was left was the guy’s headless body with blood squirting out of his headless body like a fountain. All eyes widened at the body unable to believe what they just saw, as they body hit the ground everyone snapped out of their trance and all hell was let loose they all dropped their makeshift weapons, “oh my god!” “we are gonna die! We are all gonna die!”

As though their screams were some sort of signal, The monster jumped out of the backroom straight into one them butting his head clean off. That was the final straw as everyone began running in different directions but the beast wasn’t having it jumped over a shelf unto one guy managing to rip away one of his legs as he fell he began to scream out for his friends but they took one look at him and the monster and ran out of the convenience store.

They rushed into Chad’s car, “come on move man! Hurry man! Move!” the remaining three friends began to shout  at Chad who put his leg unto the gas pedal pulling out of the driveway and speeding away as one of the friends picked up the phone and began making a call to 911. “911 how can I help you?” the operators voice came over from the phone “help! Its gonna kill us! It killed them all! We are going to die ! we are all going to die!” the guy broke into tears on the phone “sir please calm down what is after you?”*crash* the guy opened his mouth to respond but at that moment the sound of shattering glass was heard followed by a terrifying howl causing all the boys to turn around to see the beast on all fours with its head pulled back howling to the moon.

The beast slowly turned to face them its golden eyes locked unto them striking with inexplicable fear sending shivers down all their spines. “sir. Sir. Sir please tell me what is going on…” the 911 operators voice came over from the phone that was now on the floor.
