Miya is living proof that just having a loving family isn't enough. Half human, half abomination, she has had to run from the supernatural community since she learned how to shift. Now, for her last year of high school, her family has lost their absolute minds, deciding Miya needs one regular year at a regular high school. Except, they've chosen the absolute worst place for it.

Crescent Ridge High School is nestled in the scenic Colorado mountains. It's remote location and difficult terrain have made it a prime location for a vampire coven and a werewolf pack. Hiding from both of them was bound to be difficult enough, but matters turn from 'difficult' to 'dangerous' when she meets her goddess-chosen mate.

Miya finds herself walking a dangerous tightrope. She'll need to hide who she is to survive, but what kind of life can she live when she has to hide from all the people she loves?

And what if there was a way to have everything she'd ever wanted?

Prologue: All About Me
Crescent Ridge High School; an elite school for the betterment of the budding adults residing in Crescent Ridge. Read: a public school that somehow manages to come across as elitist and snooty. Then again, elitist and snooty were probably the two most accurate descriptions of Crescent Ridge as a town. Highly remote, as it was two hours from the nearest city and one hour from the next bare-minimum excuse for a town, Crescent Ridge very aggressively promoted their town as being scenic and safe. Situated in the cleavage of two mountains, I couldn't count the waterfalls, ravines, and lakes in this area on one hand. Because of that, it had the upside of being humid as hell. I knew this, not because I had lived in Crescent Ridge my whole life, as so many others claimed, but because I had thoroughly researched my new community before my parents moved me in. And research was something I was very good at, because something I could count on one hand was the amount of times I was able to hang out with friends outside of the “comfort” of my own home. I equate the phrase 'from the comfort of' to 'from the confines of.' They've always meant the same thing in my family, after all, and my mother likes to abuse the former, as she thinks it makes me think of my lifestyle as anything less than criminal. My lifestyle is absolutely criminal. I was a mistake, and I knew it. Not that my parents knew it, though. They prefer to delude themselves into thinking of me as a 'miracle baby.' But a miracle baby would be well received in all communities. No, we have to move every time someone learns too much about me, because I'm as far from a miracle as one could get. My grandmother, Akina Hayashi, was born into a powerful yakuza clan in Tokyo. They were able to keep a grip on the criminal underground specifically because those of the Hayashi family were known to be powerful, pure-blood vampires. She was disowned and banished when she fell in love with a handsome Japanese human. He was slaughtered, of course- his body parts are probably still fertilizing remote parts of Japan- but grandma escaped with a beautiful half-human, half-vampire child growing in her belly. My mother, Aimi Hayashi. After immigrating, Akina thought she wouldn't survive if other vampires learned of her child. She was pleasantly surprised to find that American vampires were a little more relaxed. They even joined a coven for a while. That all changed when my mother turned nineteen. My grandmother on my father's side had a similar story of woe. Werewolves are devout worshippers of the Moon Goddess, to more of an extreme than vampires. They are rewarded with a soul mate. Stronger packs, like Grandmother Sarah Wexley's, forbade accepting a mate that was human. It would ‘weaken the blood' they said. So when Sarah was blessed with a mate, a human man that worked in construction and looked (her words not mine) “hella fine,” she refused to refuse him, and was thus kicked from the pack, and gained 'Rogue' status. Not a status anyone would want. She escaped with her mate, and they mated. And mated, and mated, and mated, raising four girls and two boys. The brood was lucky to have a happy home until every last one of them left the nest. Then, their father died of a simple stroke. One of their children, Joshua Summett, felt the mate bond for a half-vampire woman named Aimi, and many painful miscarriages later, I came to be. Half human, a quarter werewolf and a quarter vampire do a mutt make. If the covens and packs of the world knew I existed, I would be killed on the spot. Which is why I was home schooled up to this point. This point being the point when my parents, who were always starry-eyed fools, lost their absolute minds and enrolled me in a snooty, elitist public high school in nowhere, Colorado. My name is Miya Summett. I am half-Japanese, half-abomination. This is my story.
