I hooked my gaze at him, hefty breaths escaping my nostrils. He was with no doubt the number one person I hated and the worst thing that had ever happened to me. I drew myself away from him. "Get out of my house!" managed to escape through my clenched jaw. "You mean my house." An evil smirk was glued to his lips. "You have no right to throw us out now. You said a week, you big coward." "Coward?" The air was filled with his chuckles. For a few minutes, he stared at me. Then he let out a chuckle again. "You know you are. How can you even do this?" "Because I can. Now evacuate this building." "We are not going to. We have a week." I yelled. He walked slowly over to me, his face almost glued to mine. "You are stubborn; I like that. Stubborn people don’t go too far with me." He grabbed my shoulders, then moved down to my waist. He gripped it tight, then started to move his hands slowly, feeling the arcs of my waistline. "Let go of me!" I yelled. I tried to push him, but he was too strong. I lifted my hand, then landed it hard on his face. He pulled back, his hand on his cheek. His face turned cold, and he glared deeply into my eyes. "I will wait for the magic you need by the end of the week." He let out a smirk, then his face went cold again. "Magic." He said that before slowly backing away. He signalled for his men to leave, then he followed suit. I watched as he got into his Porsche, then zoomed off. I turned to Alyssa. "What do we do now?" I cried. "Pack up our things." "What? We can’t just leave." "What else can we do? We can’t raise such money in a few days. I suggest we start looking for a new house." "But we don’t even have the money to rent a new one. What about my mom?" Tears began to build up in my eyes. Alyssa placed her hands over my shoulders, taking me inside. I dropped to the couch and let out quiet sobs. "You are wet; have a blanket." I didn’t even flinch. I laid on the couch, soaking wet, crying my eyes out. From one dead end to another, I was a big disgrace. All I needed was some magic, like he said. *** The golden rays of sunlight pierced through my eyes. The faint chirps of birds hit my ears. My swollen eyes parted slowly. It landed on Alyssa, who was sitting across from me with her face engrossed in her phone. "Girl," she said, astonished. Her widened eyes continue to stare at me. "You are trending." "What?" She got up, then shoved her phone in my face. "Look, Damon was spotted in the rain with his secret girlfriend." My eyebrows scrunched up. I stared at Alyssa’s phone with bewilderment. "Who is Damon?" My eyes landed on the picture that was underneath the headline. My eyes widened. It was a picture taken when he was holding my waist closely. "Damon, the stupid prick. Is he famous? Oh my?" Alyssa opened her phone browser, then hooked him up. "He is Damon Wilder." Alyssa gasped. "Who is Damon Wilder?" I asked, perplexed. I could not place what was happening. The sound of my phone ringing crashed into my thoughts. It was an unknown number. I picked it up, then waited for a voice at the other end, but got none. "Hello?" My body was tingling all over as my mind tried to think of who it could be. "Oh hello, Amelia, it’s Bruce." A smile brushed my lips. "Bruce, why call with an unknown number?" "I could not get hold of my personal cell phone. "I was just wondering if you were home." "Yes," Then I heard a click at the other end. He hung up. I looked at my phone, my face expressionless. Alyssa yanked my legs, then shoved her phone back in my face. "Everyone is asking about you, girl." They want to know who finally tamed the beast. "Tamed the beast?" I scrolled through the blog post, my face twisting at each comment. "But all these are false. How can they even say we are dating?" I handed the phone back. "That’s bloggers for you, girl." The blog post was the least of my problems. All I could think about was how to save enough money to rent another house within a week, or my mother and I would be thrown out on the streets. The vibration of my phone caught my eye. It was a text message. I prayed in my mind for it not to be my mother. I have no good news to tell her right now. Come to my office. The text message had been read. The only person that came to mind was that monster, who I just figured was named Damon. "He is asking for you to see him." Alyssa asked with her neck stretched in my phone’s direction. "Yes, how did he get my number?" "Who knows? Are you going?" "How can you ask me that question? You should know the answer." "You might have wanted to go." "Wanted to go where?" Another voice said. Our heads turned in that direction, and our gazes were drawn to Bruce, who was carrying a heavy load of nylons. Alyssa rushed over to collect the nylons, then threw me a wide smile. She gave me a thumbs up and gestured that she was leaving. I took a glance at Bruce, his eyes shining as usual. He walked over to me and sat down. "I bought them for you guys." "This is too much; you could have"—the soft touch of his fingers was felt on my lips. His eyes were staring deeply into mine. "Don’t say that. There is nothing too much for..." He removed his finger, then pulled closer to me. "I… I have missed you so much. I thought I would never see you again. My eyes never left his. My head was blank. I neither knew what to say nor what reaction to give. Then the sound of the door opening drew my attention. It was a man suited up in black. I guessed it was from Damon. "My boss ordered me to pick you up."
