“Good morning, Jeff. Got time to go for coffee? I’ve got an hour before my first job. I’d like to talk about a few things.” Jack decided his brother would be the first to know of his plans. “Hey, why don’t you drop by here? Peg can whip us up a breakfast fit for a king, or in your case, a queen.” He chuckled. “Listen, fool—I get enough of that s**t from Dad. Don’t you start in on me.” He knew Jeff was only kidding and couldn’t keep the laugh from his pretend anger. “I’ll be there in twenty minutes, ten if Peg is making waffles. Five if she grinds those beans that make the best coffee I’ve ever had.” Jack demolished his second helping of waffles with maple syrup.
