The gravel crunched beneath the truck tires as they pulled into the long, curved driveway. Oaks lined the edge of the property like silent sentinels, casting long shadows across the grass. The house stood at the end—simple, two-story, faded white paint, wide porch, and a crooked wind chime swaying in the breeze.


Sami leaned forward in her seat, heart fluttering. “This is it?”
Ace cut the engine and nodded. “It’s not much… but it could be ours.”


They stepped out together, boots sinking into soft earth. The place was quiet—no engines, no yelling, no memories soaked into the walls. Just the rustle of trees and the hum of summer.
Ace didn’t say a word. He just took her hand and led her to the porch. The key turned with a click that sounded like a promise.
