Stronger Than Most

Chapter Six

Sharlot's POV

I have been training hard lately. My dad, the beta of the pack, is tough on me. He has me train with the warriors when he is not able to train me. He is tougher on me than the rest of the pack. His reason is, I can't be weak. I have to be a strong warrior. Not to be like my mother. UUUggg! I hate when he says those words to me!I was young when I lost her. My mother was not weak. She was a great fighter. One of the best fighters in the pack. She trained most of the warriors and the people in our pack. I was young, but I remember her. She was quick on her feet and agile. Her moves were smooth. An attack came in the middle of the night by some rouges, and we lost a lot of people. It was a very sad night for us all. Among them that night, we lost our Luna. Nothing has been the same ever since.Alpha Nick has been more cold and evil. He made our people believe his son had died, but Hank and I know that is not true, just like some of the guards. They are sworn not to speak a word of it or the alpha will take their heads and the heads of their loved ones. I know because I heard it one night when the alpha came over to the house to give condolences on my mother's death. As the years have gone by, things have been changing, more attacks than usual, more than any other packs. We are one of the biggest packs out there and wealthier. Lately we have been getting attacks very often. Something is going on but I don't know what.

dammit! I feel a sharp pain on the side of my ribs.

"Pay attention Sharlot, where is your mind at? The enemy would not hesitate to take you out if you space out."

"Sorry father,it wont happen again."

"Is everything okay with you?"

" Yes, everything is good, I'm good."

"Are you sure?"

I nod my head and get back in position.

"Yes, I'm just a little tired. That's all."

"How are things going with Adam? Good I'm sure?"

"Everything is going great with him."

"Okay, then that will be all for today."

I take my leave and head to the woods,but before I go and meet up with Elijah, I go to the pack house kitchen and get a corn muffin for him and wrap it up for him. I know he loves this, besides, I know he must be hungry. He does not get fed often. His father is evil. I started heading in the direction I'd seen Elijah take earlier. I know exactly where he is heading. I caught up with him heading to our hiding spot.

"Hey Elijah, I brought you something to eat. I know it's not much, but I know it's one of your favorites," I said with a smile.

"Thank you, I'll save it for later."

We walked down our little path to the river admiring this valley, passing through the woods to the river. It's beautiful, full of flowers everywhere, roses,lavender, and marigolds. I can hear footsteps approaching us, but I don't get scared, I know who it is.

"Hey guys! How are you doing?"

"Hey Hank!" We both said unanimously.

We looked around to make sure none of us were followed. We have a hiding cave with a small entrance. We start removing the twigs and branches covering the entrance so that no one can tell.This has been our spot for years. We crawl inside, pretty soon we will be too big to fit thru here. Once we were inside, we made a nice fire and sat around it. Elijah asked me who Adam was, but Hank did not like him.

"Adam is the future alpha of the Half Moon Pack."

"More like the bully and obnoxious guy who thinks he's untouchable."

"Hank, I know you don't like him, but he is not like that."

"He is sweet and loving and cares for others."

"Puff! That is because you love him, you fail to see him any other way." said Hank.

"He is going to be Alpha Adam soon. I'm hoping I'm his mate when he turns eighteen.My father strongly believes that I have the ability to be his Luna one day, not just be a beta."

"What do you think of that, Sharlot?" asked Elijah.

I shrugged my shoulders. "It's what my father always wanted me to be. He has me training every day since he found out me and Adam are together. Making sure that I am more than just a beta." They give me a side-eye look.

"Okay guys, let's shut this down. I would like to go for a swim. I am sweaty from all that training, besides it's a beautiful day."

As we are swimming and having fun, I feel my wolf stirred up inpatiently in my head.

"What is wrong, Misty? What are you sensing?"

"I don't know Sharlot, something feels off. Something is not right. I sense danger. You need to leave now!"

I pay close attention and my wolf Misty is right, something is wrong and I'm not going to wait around to see.

"Hank, Elijah! We have to leave now! Something is coming."

I'm guessing from the look that I gave them they know I mean business.

"Be safe, and stay as quiet as possible. We don't know who it could be. We can't get caught out here."

I ran through the trees and out of the woods and I mind link my father.

"Father, do you have guards running the perimeter?"

"No Sharlot, I'm in a meeting now with Alpha Nick. What is going on?"

"Something or someone is coming and I don't think is good."

"Hurry and get back to the house. I'll warn the others."
