Stronger Than Most

Chapter seven

David POV

I was sitting in a meeting with Alpha Nick about the attacks we have been getting so often, when Sharlot's mind linked me.

“Hey dad, do you have guards or warriors along the perimeter?”

She sounded distraught and kind of scared.

“ No Sharlot, I’m actually in a meeting with Alpha Nick. What is going on ? Are you okay?”

“ I think something or someone is coming! I’m not sure.”

“Head straight home,I’ll alert everyone else.”

Alpha Nick had stopped talking and was looking at me with concern.

“It’s everything okay, Beta David?”

“I’m not sure Alpha, Sharlot was out in the woods, and says she senses something or someone is out there close to our borders.”

His eyes started changing, his wolf wanting to come out.

“Where are our guards and warriors?!”

I mind-linked the guards and warriors to check the woods out.

“I already linked them Alpha to go check it out. It might me nothing. You know Sharlot is still young and might not be able to sense the difference if it’s danger or one of our own.”

“ That is no excuse! You know we have been getting attacked lately and we can not allow ourselves to have our guards down!”

He slammed his fist on his desk and split it in half. I have not seen him this mad ever since we lost Luna, his mate Luna Luz. Also, the day he found out his son was not his. I don't know why that fool is still alive.

"Alpha Nick, seems that we are getting attacked again, their rogues."

"Then what are you waiting for? Lets go!"

We head out into the woods and some of our warriors and guards are dead. So many bodies and blood everywhere. Some of us break out into our wolf form while others fight in their human form. I look around to make sure I don't see Sharlot out here in the middle of all this. Something is not right here. Our warriors and guards are not that easy to take down. Their heads are not cut off and they look like they are not healing. I mind-link the rest of the alpha to warn him, but I think it is too late.

"Alpha Nick, these rouges are fighting dirty, something doesn't look right."

"What is it, Beta David? I'm kind of busy here!"

"Our warriors and guards are getting hurt and are not healing.They are still bleeding. Where are you?"

"I'm out on the field."

I know he can handle himself but, it sounded like he got wounded. I looked around for him and he had three rouges attacking him. I run tours him to help him but a rogue in his human form comes running out nowhere and stabs him on the side of his ribs. I had no time to warn him. He drops to the ground and it seems that whatever they are using is very strong to bring the alpha to the ground with just one stab. Before I am able to reach him, they all start running away.

"Alpha Nick, are you okay? Can you hear me?"

"Yes, I hear you."

"We need to get you to the pack house quickly. You don't look so great."

"I don't feel so great either. What was in their daggers that hurts like hell.?"

"I don't know Alpha, but you are not healing. Come on, let's get you fixed up."

I mind-linked the rest of the guards to help me get Alpha to the pack doctor.

"Doctor, what is going on with Alpha Nick, is he going to be okay?"

"I'm not sure, Beta David. He is weak. I am hoping that his wolf is able to heal him. We are still trying to figure out an antidote to whatever he has running in his blood stream right now."

"Is he awake, Doctor?"

"No, he has not woken up yet, it seems he has gone into a coma. We are still trying to figure out what is happening to him. It is too early to tell right now. He needs to rest and let the wolf try to heal him."

"He is not healing at all?'

"No. Sorry."

"Can I go see him?"

"He needs to rest, but yes, you can see him."

"I suggest you find right away what is going on with him, and find an antidote or whatever it is to make sure our Alpha survives."

"Yes Beta David."

He can not die yet. It is not his time. Hopefully, he pulls through and we can figure out what is happening. I walked into his room and he looked fragile, not strong anymore. Puff, your supposed to be the strong almighty Alpha, but look at you now. All vulnerable ready to be taken down.

"Alpha Nick, Its me, David."

There was no response, not even a twitch or a movement in his hands. We have been friends since we were little pups. His power has gone too much in his head, doing careless things. If only he could have listened to me years ago, he would not be in this position right now.

"I don't know if you can hear me, but your going to be okay. We will figure out what is going on, just make sure you are healed. "

I mind-linked Sharlot. "Honey, where are you? Are you okay? Are you home?"

"Yes father, I am okay. I'm at the pack house with the others."

Now I mind link the guards.

"What are the casualties?"

"It is a lot, Beta David. We lost a lot of our guards and warriors. Some of us are back at the pack house and our people are wounded and not healing."

"We have to figure out what it was that they used. Did they leave anything behind?"

"Yes, we found a dagger on the field where Alpha Nick was last seen."

"Good. Bring it to me. I'm on my way back from the pack hospital. Meet me in the conference room with the rest of our strongest warriors."
