It was late in the evening when the dragon King reached his home, the castle of Ocalis with his new wife, Ashley. He was in a happy mood such that he had never been since the death of his first wife.
The palace guards saluted him with maximum respect as he had been gone for three days for the purpose of bringing home a new Queen.
He came into the room and sat with new wife who was still feeling very timid with the thoughts of escaping the castle as she looked around, monitoring the setting of the palace.
"Come on, my love, why don't you wear a smile for me. Aren't you happy to be home?" Raymond asked with a soft voice, such that Ashley was in doubt because she did not believe it was the dragon king who she'd heard so many stories about his inhuman nature. She could not fall for such pretense, but she still had to wear the smile which he was asking for. "Now that is the beautiful face I want to see every time." Raymond added, expecting to hear a word from her because since they began the journey to his palace, she had not said a word to him.
Still she refused to say anything but maintained the pretentious smile which she was wearing.
"Okay, I get you are tired and need some rest, so I will leave you to yourself now. Tomorrow morning, I shall show you around the palace and also introduce you to my son." Raymond said to her as he stood from his seat and left the room, since he also wanted to rest because he was tired due to the journey from Erellan to Ocalis.
Though the dragon king was acting nice to Ashley, ever since they began the trip from her kingdom to Ocalis, she still would not have anything to do with him. She would always see him as the brutal dragon everyone knows him as, she knew that his acting nice was not going to last forever so she still had to run away.
After he left the room, Ashley stood up too and quietly walked out of the room, as she found her way out of the palace, making sure that she was not seen by any of the palace guards.
She successfully sneaked out of the palace and since she did not know her way around the kingdom of Ocalis, she kept running and went into the woods which she believed would lead her to another Kingdom.
While she kept running in the woods that night, she fell into a trap, and was forced to cry out loud in pain. "Aaahhhhh!"
It was a pit meant for animals that she had fallen into and there was no way she could climb out except when she called for help. Though it was late at night, and nobody would be in the woods by that time, it did not stop her from calling out for help.
"Somebody help!!" She kept screaming with the hope that someone was in the woods and was going to hear her. The continuous call for help lasted a few minutes until her voice became faint with no sign of anybody, so she quit screaming and decided to rest there till sunrise when it was believed that someone would definitely come into the woods.
Just a few minutes after she stopped screaming for help, she heard clearly the footsteps of someone walking in the woods, so she forced herself to shout again, "I'm down here… Please help me…"
Lo, it was the face of a very handsome young man that appeared above the pit. She saw the face to be blurry as she passed out because she had lost a lot of strength.

Next the man was inside the pit with her as he tapped her to open her eyes. "Hey, wake up. You are safe now."
"Who are you?" She asked as she slowly opened her eyes and found herself in the arms of the gentleman.
"Let me get you out of this hole first." He said as he backed her, climbing out of the pit with the help of a rope which he had used to climb down in the first place.
Now that they were back on the surface and she was fully awake, he could see the full beauty of the lady he had helped out of the pit. Her fair complexion, coupled with her brown cute eyes, long hair and pink lips made him fall for her.
So he asked, "What is a beautiful lady like you doing out here in the woods all by yourself? Are you lost?"
"Who are you?" She repeated her question before thinking of answering him, because she was also wondering what he was doing there by that time. His handsome nature showed that he was not a regular hunter, he smelled so nice that he could not be attributed to the woods. His blue eyes and the lovely way he looked at her was very sexy, that she was even developing feelings for him already, so she wanted to know who he was.
He was surprised that she did not know who he was even as she was fully awake and was looking into his eyes. "My name is Jasper. What about you and how did you get here?"
"I'm Ashley, and I'm lost." She was honest with her name, but lied about being lost.
"So where are you from, so I can take you back to you people?" Jasper asked her.
"Ermm….. I don't remember." she pretended to have forgotten because she neither wanted to go back to her family nor to the dragon king.
"Okay, I will take you to an inn where you can rest and try remembering where you are from." Jasper said.
It was as though he was not captivated by her beauty. But deep down, his urge was beginning to rise as he was experiencing some changes in his body such that he had never felt before. He felt connected to her by a very strong bond, adding to this, she was everything a man would ever desire in a woman. But he was afraid of falling in love, for some reasons best known to him.
*****
Just as he had promised, he took her out of the woods to an inn that night, and brought her to a room, where she would rest till the breaking of the day.
As he was about to leave the inn, she said. "Don't tell me you are leaving me here?" She was already feeling safe with him and did not want him out of her sight. Outside his handsome and caring nature, he looked strong and definitely would be able to protect her against anyone, including the dragon king.
"Y..…" Jasper wanted to say the word yes, but when he saw the look on her face, he knew that she was afraid and did not want him to leave so he had to change his words. "No, I'm staying with you."
His response put smiles on her face, as she could not control her joy that she hugged and kissed him on the cheek.
Now that was the mistake she shouldn't have made, as the inner part of him which was not human could no longer resist her. He was a half dragon and that other part of him that could not resist the presence of its mate, especially when she had come too close to show her love for him too.
So he saw himself kissing her as they took off their clothes, falling on the bed and they made love to one another.
