Chapter Five It took Gina a moment to realise he was completely still and silent. Douglas no longer suffered from laboured breathing, but only because it looked like he no longer needed to breathe. She wasn’t about to go any closer to check, but it seemed like it only took a day and a half to die once you became contagious. She wasn’t ready to die. When a hand rested on her shoulder, she shrieked, spinning to face Seth. “Are you okay?” She shook her head and pointed towards Douglas. Seth stepped into the bathroom and squatted beside the slumped body, pressing his fingers against Douglas’ neck. He dropped his hand and looked up at her. “He’s gone.” Gina winced and clapped her hands over her ears. “No need to shout.” Seth rose to his feet and crossed the room to stand in front of her.
