“Cheers!” everyone happily said. They’re at a private resort owned by one of their teammates. All of them are seated around a table and having dinner and drinking, except two people. Michael and Miguel are sitting on the pool side while talking seriously.
Earlier that same day, Michael explained why he was not answering Miguel’s calls and text. He actually broke his phone the day his mother went home with his soon to be stepfather, who’s with his son with him.
After the ceremony to end the Spikers League 2025, Michael asked Miguel to go with him at the mall to buy a new phone. The two had actually already decided to spend the celebration at home but the team decided to have a team celebration at a resort. Miguel felt a bit relieved from the things that made him overthink, except for one thing, Michael did not mention who’s the guy with him earlier in the championship game. But Miguel just set that one thing aside and kept it to himself, thinking that it is nothing.
“Sorry for making you worried. I know it is my fault why you felt uneasy.” Michael genuinely said. Miguel just smiled at him and nodded. He also apologized for overthinking too much. The two badly wanted to hold each other but the presence of the team restricts them to do so.
“I’m hugging you in my mind.” Miguel said. Michael smiled devilishly.
“Think what I am thinking right now.” he told Miguel and licked his lips. Miguel glared at him, which made him scared.
“You pervert!” Miguel said. Michael just laughed at him. The team noticed that the two are in good terms already, since they always see the two fighting most of the time, not knowing that they just staged those acts for them not to discover their relationship.
“Thank you.” Michael genuinely said out of nowhere. Miguel was confused.
“For what?” Miguel asked.
“For winning the game for us. We wouldn’t win the game without you. You really are my Best Setter. You’re the reason for the team’s success.” Michael leaned closer to him and whispered to his ear. “That’s why I love you so much.”
Miguel smiled and secretly pinched him on the cheeks and whispered. “I love you more.”
“Look at them, I’m really happy for them. I never thought I would see Michael smile like that.” Aaron told Allen, just enough for the two of them to hear. They know the secret relationship of the two, and they support them.
“Guys! Come here! Let us have some fun!” one of their teammates called Miguel and Michael. The two cheerfully obeyed them and sat with them around the table. They were drinking and celebrating their win, which is a very momentous event in their team which is composed of a majority of rookies.
“This is too boring! Let’s play a game. Why don’t we play, right?” The whole team agreed. They decided to play truth or dare., which energized the team.
“Okay, for our first lucky winner…” Allen took the bottle and spun. Everyone cheered as the bottle continued to spin until it stopped. It pointed to two of their teammates, and the game continued. After a few more spins, the bottle pointed at Michael.
“Wooooh!” Everyone cheered for Michael. Miguel was smiling on the side and Michael was nodding.
“Truth or Dare, our MVP?” Allen asked him. Michael happily answered ‘truth’ and everyone booed at him. He just laughed at them.
“So your question is… are you in a relationship right now?” Allen said, teasing him and Miguel.
“Yes!” Michael confidently and proudly said. Everyone booed at Allen for they all know that Michael is in a relationship, even though they do not know who that person is.
“NEXT!” Everyone cheered so Michael spun the bottle again, which landed pointing on Miguel. Everyone cheered because they know Miguel is a very shy type of a person. And engaging him in this kind of activity is very rare.
“And the million dollar question for our Finals MVP, truth or dare?” Allen asked Miguel. Miguel was awarded as the Most Valuable Player of the Finals after leading his team to bounce back after being down two sets. Miguel didn’t actually think that he would be the FInals MVP because Michael and the others actually carried the team to win the game.
“I think, I’ll go with the truth.” Miguel answered. Everyone also booed him for choosing truth instead of the dare.
“For your question, are you in love right now?” Aaron asked him. Again, everyone booed at the question.
“Yes!” Miguel answered.
“Ohhhh!” Everyone replied, for the two both answered that they are both in a relationship at the moment. The other boys looked at each other, signaling each other. They all get what that look is all about, and they’re all thinking one thing.
The game continued but the bottle didn’t stop on where Miguel or Michael was seated. It was already getting late and some of them were already swimming in the pool, while others kept on playing that game while drinking. Until…
“It’s Michael!” Allen screamed as the bottle pointed to Michael. All of the people playing the game shouted ’DARE’ for Michael to choose.
“Okay, okay! Let’s do the dare!” Michael said, and the people screamed. They already got into the influence of alcohol, in which Miguel thought it a big no.
“Kiss someone you dreamed of or wanted to kiss in the team, and explain why you chose him.” Allen commanded him. The crowd shouted and cheered for the dare their captain had thought.
Michael stopped for a moment, then smiled. He looked at Miguel, who’s seated beside him, looking at him. He grabbed him on his waist and pull him closer to him. And the expected thing happened.
He kissed Miguel in front of his teammates. It’s just a smack, but full of love. The players cheered for them.
“I knew it!” one of their teammates said. Miguel and Michael smiled.
“You silly!” Miguel said. Michael just laughed. Now their teammates are asking about their relationship, on how they know each other, who courted who, and how long they are together. The conversation is filled with happiness and love.
“Hmm so that’s it.” someone peeking from the outside said, and he vanished to the darkness.
