*Beep!*
It’s 7 in the morning. A car stopped in front of Miguel’s house.
“Miggy, your friend’s here!” Miguel’s mom called him. He just got into the living room.
“Friend? I don’t remember inviting someone over.” Miguel told himself. He’s already wearing his school uniform and got his things ready for school. He looked at who’s that ‘friend’ of him. He looked outside and immediately recognized the car.
“Oh my God.” he told himself and hurriedly went back inside the house.
“Mom, I think I forgot something in my room. I’ll go back upstairs.” He yelled. He ran fast up to his room and locked the door, got his phone in his pocket and dialed that ‘friend’ of his’ number.
“Why are you outside? Mom might see you!” he frantically said.
“Why? Your older brother asked me to go there and take you to school. He’ll not be able to drop you to school today, right?” the guy said. Miguel rolled his eyes, disgusted with the idea of his brother.
“That’s so sweet of you, but what if mom will think something between us? I don’t know what to say if that happens.” Miguel responded.
“Don’t overthink too much, babe. And even if your mom sees us, she’ll think that maybe I’m just your classmate, or friend, or teammate. There’s nothing wrong with that.”
Miguel thinks for a moment. He realized that his friend was right.
“Okay, wait for me there, okay?” He told him. He ended up the call before his friend was able to respond, and he hurriedly went back downstairs. He almost stumbled down when he saw his mom talking to his man.
“It’s my pleasure to finally meet you, Tita Rhea. Miguel’s told me a lot about you. Nice meeting you po.” he told Miguel’s mom and smiled genuinely. He looked at Miguel who’s looking at him with a shocked face.
“Umm.. m-mom. We’re gonna be late. We have to go. Bye, mom! Love you!” Miguel grabbed his hand and hurriedly went outside and got into the car. His ‘friend’ was laughing really loud when they got inside.
“You’re overreacting. You know, your mom will definitely find it suspicious, your actions a while ago are something.” his friend told him as they drove their way to the school.
Miguel did not respond. He’s too shy to do that. His friend noticed it and smiled.
“You’re so cute.” he told him, with a pinch on Miguel’s cheeks.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the school. They drive their way to the parking area allotted to the varsity players of volleyball, which happens to be near their court, and also, not too crowded.
“See you later, my baby.” the guy said and kissed Miguel on his cheeks. Miguel blushed, as the guy got out of the car first. They have this agreement not to popularize their relationship to the public, for it will drag too much attention.
After a few seconds and checking that there’s no one around, Miguel got out of the car. Before going to their room, he went to the restroom first to check his appearance and look.
He’s already heading towards their room when someone called him.
“Miggy!” Ruby called him. Ruby Anne Alonzo is one of Miguel’s closest friends, who’s also his classmate. She’s with two of their other two friends: Vincerhey Santos and Aaron Valderama.
“Hey guys! How are you?” Miguel replied. He waited for them and walked with them heading towards their class.
“By the way, congrats on your win, Miggy! And to you as well, Aaron!” Vince told them. Aaron is also a member of the volleyball varsity team.
“When is the finals? I’ll be there to support you, even if we have a class that time, I’ll still be there and support you hahaha!” Ruby told them and laughed.
They’re already in front of their room when they stopped. Miguel couldn’t find his phone. He thinks that he left it in the car.
“Guys, I think I left my phone in the car. You can go inside the room, I just need to check if my phone is there.” He told his friends. They just gave him a certain look, questioning what he just said.
“Car?” Vince asked him. “When did you start bringing your own car? When did you learn how to drive?”
Miguel was caught off-guard. Luckily, he immediately thought of an excuse.
“Y-yeah! My brother dropped me here in school. If he noticed that my phone was there, he’ll probably drive back here.” he told them. He was about to add something when someone talked from his back.
“Can you please not block the door?” Michael told them. He immediately turned around and moved so that Michael could now go inside the room.
“Can you please not block the door?” Ruby imitated what Michael just said which made them laugh.
“Stop! That guy might see us doing that. We don’t want to get into trouble, right?” He told his friends. Michael is one of the most popular students in school, because of his appearance, family background, and of course, achievements as a varsity player. No one ever made a stand against him, no one ever tried.
“You may go inside the room. I just need to check my phone. It’ll be just quick, I promise.” Miguel said. After his friends got inside the room, he hurriedly retraced his steps going to the car, when someone called him.
“Hey! We’re are you going?” Miguel immediately smiled and turned around. He checked the surroundings first to see if there’s someone around.
“You left this in the car.” he handed Miguel his phone.
“How did you know? You get out of the car first.” Miguel asked. “Thanks.”
“It’s a secret, babe.” the guy said and smiled, when he noticed some people were walking towards them. His facial expression changed and rapidly walked away, Miguel realized what happened and smiled.
“It’s like we’re playing hide and seek, hahaha!”
