Chapter Twenty-Three
We were about an hour out from Persephene when Amy got on the Vcom to her mother. Her mother’s keen eye did not betray her. She noticed that Amy was no longer with child. I happen to walk past the Vcom at that time. I heard my name and stopped immediately. Amy’s mother’s tone of voice was not the sweet melodious tones I had become accustom to.
She wanted to know why they had not been notified when Amy had gone into labor. I did my best to explain that we were on a small moon in a different part of the quadrant. We did not have time to notify anyone. Amy’s water had broken and we were forced to rush straight to the midwife on that moon. You can imagine the upset look in her mother’s face.
