Chapter Seventeen

*Syamthanda’s POV* I never thought I would enjoy talking about my family like this and just taking a trip down the lane of my life. This woman makes me feel something different everyday. I believe we’ve covered my whole family part and I also got to know about hers a little. She has a sister whom I know and her father left them and her mother died. So it basically her and her sister. We were laughing at the incident she did when she was little and she hit my hand and I pull her in for a hug and she was at my embrace as we stayed like that in silence for a while “And your business?” she broke the silence. I knew this question was going to be brought up. I shift her and made her face me “Okay I’ll tell you but I’m afraid you’ll hate me after this” Confusion clouded her face “No I won’t” she blankly said. I knew she would resent me after discovering what I do and how I make money. I don’t kill people for money but it’s close to that. “Promise me you won’t kill me or leave me” I knew even the promise was not enough to make a person live with someone like me. She took my hand “I promise I won’t leave you” she smiled. I sigh “Okay. I deal with human trafficking” and soon as those words escaped my lips her face turned pale and her hand left mine and she moved further from me. I scrubbed my head and continued, “I offer transportation for the dealers that buys humans. Most of these people are drug addicts and prostitutes, we…” “F**k Syamthanda !!” she jumped on top of me and punched me in my chest. Her fist was strong that I flinched at the little pain “You are a monster ! You sell people, f**k” she stood up and paced up and down as insults escaped her lips. I stood up and went towards her and she pointed at me “ Don’t you dare get close to me ! What if those girls were your sisters??” she said those words so cold I fell on the couch and buried my head to my hands. How could she say something like this? I felt tears threatening to leave my eyes. I was going to lose her and her words kept echoing inside me. Sh*t but this is... She sat down beside me and touched my back and I felt shivers down my spine and my throat became dry at the contact. “ I’m sorry about what I said, and I still want to know more because I believe I cut you off” I looked up as tears left my eyes and she wiped them. I wasn’t angry at her for what she said and truly speaking she was right, what if those were my sisters? I can’t believe she was still here and even speaking to me, okay I do believe she’s here because even if she wanted to leave she won’t be able to unalarmed the alarms but still talking to me? I was shocked and she was even willing to listen to me. She wanted to know more. “So my business associates take a group of homeless people, prostitutes and addicts and transport them overseas to help them find job and create a new life that side. I just offer transportation” I explained and she was looking straight in my eyes as if she wanted to see clearly when I’m lying. “How sure are you that they get a better life that side?” “Well I’m not 100% certain but I have been there to check on the progress of some and they were well-off but some don’t always get lucky” “Syamthanda I’m going to ask you this once, is your business legit?” “No, this one is not but others are” I’m being honest now. She nods. “You have others?” she asked. “Yes, I was handed the transportation one but my father and the others I got myself”. I was very grateful when my father handed me his most important business which also makes a lot of money but I also wanted to have something of my own so I invested in many businesses but only Siyanda knows about this. “I own 60% of Engen so all the petrol stations that are in this country under Engen are partly owned by me. I also invested in multiple constructions, black owned companies and I’ve recently partnered with BMW which is why I’m driving a new beast that most people don’t have. It was a gift. That’s all” Yeah I believe that was it all. She stare at dumbfounded and I pinch her and she ask the most ridiculous question ever “Are you rich? No no the really question is, how rich are you??” I laughed and she was still in shock. I stood up and picked her up bridal style. “I hope this will answer your question”
