Chapter 1: We Go Under
I began walking towards the giant wall; all I was a massive blurred chunk of white, blacks and green. I couldn't make out any details. It was hard to describe, but I could feel its presence. I could feel the entire area around me.
I fell on my knees and held my body up with my breathing heavy. I clutched my chest. A being made of darkness appeared in front of me.
"Do not stop," it said.
"This is real," I said.
"Of course, it is."
"I'm not Human anymore!" I cried, "how can I know I'm even myself anymore. I know I'm distant from you, but how can I know if the other one and I connected?"
"These are pointless questions," the entity replied, "you are strong. That is the only thing that matters."
"I wouldn't expect you to understand, but I am Human, damn it, I want to go home and play video games. That's Human. The only non-Human things about me are my magic, my appearance and that that I can't swear." I put my hand behind my back and flipped them over, my hair following, "good, I still have my hair," parts of my hair were touching the ground. "What the hell did you do to my hair!" I yelled.
"It got in the way," it said, "why does this matter if it does not make you stronger?"
"I care because that's what people do, right mirror," I said, looking around for a reflective surface.
"You are not focused on your surroundings," it said.
"I need a shiny surface," with a thought and a raise of my hand, a bone wall rose from the ground, "polish," I said out loud, and the surface smoothed. I turned around, saw my body and sighed, "they're so big," I said, moving my wings and tail, "no, they're not important."
I looked at my claws, them taking up the second part of my finger, "time to show you have some use," I said, gripping my hair, I tried to cut it, but it was too tough. "What," I cried, trying to cut my hair.
"Do you feel the elemental energy within yourself?" It asked.
"Yes," I answered, "how can't I? Why won't this damn hair cut," I grunted, moving the claw in a cutting motion, "come on, damn it," I snarled.
The entity floated in front of me, "elemental flesh resists elemental attacks, your hair and claw are at the same level of elemental concentration. For the claw to cut the hair, you must raise its elemental level."
"Of course you would know," I replied, lowering my hands, "fine tell me, but I'm just using it to cut my hair, nothing else."
"This will do that. Now let your energy flow to the claw."This is to cut my hair, I thought, I felt the power flow into a single claw, and it shone black. I only want one, I thought, and all except for one turned to fingers. I looked at my torn hair. If only it were all one length, I thought my hair grew.
"Removal all Dragon features," I said with nothing happening, "worth a shot," I sighed.
"Your head fur could grow as you were regenerating it, closing wounds and regenerating limbs are the only changes you can make to your body."
"Yeah, shut up, ok," I said as I began cutting my hair.
"See the abyss!" A voice roared behind me, and turning around, I saw a giant Dragon charging towards me.
"I'm cutting my hair," I snarled and raising a hand. The Creature froze in place, "woah," I said, and a push sent it tumbling backwards. I went back to cutting my hair, I heard crashes all around me, but I focused on my hair. I found I could increase its volume. I kept it long at the back and let it cover most of the neck and fringe sides to cover up my ears and horns as best I could. When I finished, I began walking and found prone Dragons of various forms around me. It must be because I didn't want to be disturbed, so my bone magic threw them away. I want to go back home, I thought.
I saw a red Centaur-Dragon leap towards me. For a moment, it was held up before being flung backwards. From my side, I saw a giant many-legged Dragon walk towards me, a leg raised, ready to crush me, "no," I said with a raised hand. The leg was pushed back and took the rest of the body, causing the titanic Dragon to topple over. Another push set it tumbling over itself. I stared at my hands, "wow, I'm really strong."
"Indeed," the thing replied.
"I could rule this place easily."
"None would be powerful enough to stop you."
I laid my hands down, "but what's the point of that? What do I honestly get out of it?""What?"
"I'm glad for this power though. I can get home with no trouble now. Uhh, how long have I been gone? Do I need a new console, no before I left, we switched to an updating system. The studios will have released so many new anime and games, manga too. Uhh, what about my dad? No, he'll be fine, he still has about a hundred, and twenty-five left, but I need to get back to stop him worrying. Hope I get back when he's home.
More came at me, and all met the same fate. I guess my bone magic is more powerful. If one got up, I threw it further away. Yeah, I'm gripping the bones of their bodies and throwing them away, which throws the body away. I felt miasma fly towards me, uhh this, I thought, and soul-fire in the form of Dragon heads burned away the attack. I guess since magic contains a Dragon's energy soul-fire can burn it away. No, I don't want to think about this.
"You are even stronger now; nothing can stop you. You should thank me for the experience I have granted you.
"Nope shut it, I'm doing home and playing video games," I said as another hurled overhead.the black maw with tentacles behind it formed in front of me."
"Look..." I walked through it, the thing flew in front of me and floated by my side, "you have the elements of a Dragon born specifically to fight Dragons."
"Don't care," I said as two smashed together, and I walked over them, "you know what, how about I name you? Sounds better than not naming you."
"I do not require one," it answered.
"O well I have to name you now," I said, unleashing a burst of soul-fire on another Dragon. "Let's see now, Dragons are core beings. You were made from part of a core, and you're made of shadows." I stopped and sidestepped another attack and hurled the attacker back, "I've got it, Shard, it got a bit of shadow in there, and you're a shard of a Dragon."
"Just use a stream of soul-fire on one."
"O shut up, Shard, there that's better, and bursts are fine to incapacitate."
"But it is the only way to make them cry out in pain."
"Yeah, and that's why I want to avoid using it and use it on bone-less."
I kept walking until Shard spoke again, "so where are we going?" He asked.
"Somewhere safer than this place," I said, "somewhere I can do what I care about and not hurt others.
"But if you stay, you can use your power to make this kingdom a better place."
"Why should I care about somewhere that I wasn't born, a Dragon did this to me, and sure another saved me, but that just dropped me deeper down. Drydra is far stronger than me; she'll be fine." I kept walking, "god, how big is this place? Let's see how fast I can run with this body," I lowered myself into a running position and felt the energy flow to my legs. I sprung off at beyond Aeroian speeds, feeling the air rush past me, and I kept my arms straight behind, just like how Aeroians ran.
I sidestepped Dragon attacks and manoeuvred around the skeletons that had bonded with the area. I ran up ones that blocked my path and slid under those I could; I even went underground for a time before my way rose upwards.
Above I felt the same signature that let Shard take control closing in. Time for some payback, I thought as the Dragon swooped down. Rot energy burst from its mouth, with a roar of soul-fire, the beam faded. I saw her try to stop herself, but I gripped her bones. I charged an arm, leapt and punched so hard her head exploded. I landed and kept running; I didn't see the point in killing her and knew that injury would only hinder a Dragon.
The wall was fast approaching; I tried to stop even spreading my wings. I smashed into the wall yet felt no pain. I pulled myself off and patted my body down to check if I had broken anything. Nothing was.
Shard appeared, "we shouldn't leave."
"You don't get a say," I said as I searched for a hole, he flew in front of me.
"I do not know what is out there; I do not want you to die."
"Thanks for caring," I replied as I tried sensing the area, "there we go," as I walked to an open mouth skeleton, "this seems to go down."
"You die I die," Shard said, "stay here where I know we are safe."
I glared at him, "you just a parasite, only caring about me when your life is at stake." I said, climbing into the tunnel and sliding down into a chamber. This must be how those other Draan got to the Human world. The entrance was so out of the way that no Dragon would find it without actively searching for it.
I stepped forwards into the darkness, and blue light lit up the area. Looking around, I saw it coming from tiny bug-like Monsters.
"Of course," I said, trying to touch one it scuttling away, "they wouldn't be able to see in darkness, wait why don't I have freaking night-vision."
"Strong senses are for Monsters."
I sighed heavily.
"We should go back," Shard said.
I ignored him and kept walking through the bone tunnel; what Shadagon had done to me had significantly reduced my fear. "What're those things? I can't sense them."
"They are physical entities and obviously give off no elemental energy so can not be sensed. Be careful high-level ones can kill you due to their physical nature overpowering your elemental."
"Yeah, yeah," I said, "I guess their light is biological. That's pretty cool."
I kept walking. I felt the tunnel go down and sensed that it opened into a chamber where I felt another energy signature. "That should be how I get back; I bet there's a portal that connects the two. It's possible, considering what the hell has happened to me. Feels safe as well."
"Or there is a Monster down there; you can not know."
"Only one way to find out," I said as I kept walking and saw the exit.
Something crashed down just in front of me.
"Thought I'd hit you," I heard a mighty voice say, "come out now."
Slowly I left the tunnel and saw the Monster that nearly crushed me. It had six large legs and four limbs with large shovel-like scoops at its front. It had a long tail blade-tipped tail and an eye-less face.
Without looking at me, it spoke, "I was told no more were coming, well there's that one Shadagon Draan who went on a s*******r spree. You can't be him. Or you're a new one, ok, what's the password."
"Umm," as I stepped back.
"Don't know, guess you have to die then, can't let anyone through," the Monster said as it turned around and slammed its shovels down, myself just able to avoid the attack. Suddenly the ground below erupted, sending me falling back.
I stood and searched for the strange signature, my eyes just making out a pale-brown barrier covering it. Light-bugs only slightly lighted the area.
"Can't let you go, look. If you go and kill everyone at the base, I'll be to blame," the Monster said again; it sounded kinda like a Human.
"I just want to go home and try to forget about this!" I cried back.
"I know you're telling the truth, but it doesn't hurt to be safe. If you're not with Enordial, then you're against him"
I ran to the energy.
"That wouldn't work. I coated it in a guard barrier."
"Screw you," as I thrust my charged claws forwards, then immediately flung back. Its head loomed over me, "told you."
I got up and kept my distance, raising my hands, "I'll break every single bone in your body if you don't me pass," I said.
"I do not like this," Shard said, myself ignoring him.
The Monster tilted its head, the spikes on its head also moving, "is that magic I feel?" It stomped its feet down, "haha, physical zone, *****."
I couldn't sense the area around it, and I saw pale flesh form between the ground bones."Stay out of there."
"You don't need to tell me," I said, flapping back, "what is that? Screw it have some bone lances," I said as I formed bone lances from the air and propelled them forwards. When they passed the threshold, they lost all momentum and fell. I tried grabbing them with magic, but nothing happened.
"You can't use magic with might overpowering it."
I looked up; the zone stayed at the Monster's height, so it didn't reach the roof. I smiled."Yes, lift it with shadow tentacles and let it fall," Shard said.
"Nope," I replied as I pulled the bone-ceiling down with multiple gainst chunks of bone falling. The Monster looked up and grunted a pale-brown barrier forming over itself. I pulled down harder on the chunks, and the Eye-less fell with the impact, myself feeling the elmergy (elemental energy) of the area normalise with the impact.
"I'll bury you just to be safe," I said as more fragments rained down, I saw them raise just slightly then fall. I ran over to the signature, the barrier around it gone. It was like the ground had fractured, the surface shimmering like glass.
Looking back, I saw the pile shake violently, "jump or die," I said as I fell through the ground. An instant later, I was standing on the grounds of an underground city. The sky was ceiling, yellow light coming from various lamps scattered around the place. I saw tall open structures and could make out Human-like shapes in them, and around me, I saw people, some with Monster features.
Walking past, I saw a giant bug-like eye-less with long skinny legs, clawed feet, a Scorpion tail, wings, back spikes and walking on various bladed limbs. Among others walked past me. Just standing here, I felt weaker. I could feel something behind me, and so I turned to face it.The presence was a bone true-Dragon, "I was going to give you my blood to make your bone magic stronger."
I couldn't see a way out, so I would have to act my way out of this. "Yes, I tracked down the Lord and forced her to give me her blood. I want those damn Humans to cry in pain. How do I get to them? I can't wait any longer," I snarled.
"There is an entry point on the ceiling if you must know."
"Right, thanks for telling me," I said, arching down.
