My parents came into the kitchen. I got up off the chair, and gave my mom a big hug. After a minute, we let go, I looked at my dad, and he was holding out his arms. I stepped into them without hesitation. His strong arms wrapped around me. My dad's familiar cologne let me breathe a big sigh of relief. He raised his eyebrows, in confusion, as we parted, and nodded his chin towards Montgomery.  I held up one of my hands. "We can talk after I've had my coffee." I sat back down in my chair, and sipped my coffee. Mom let out her small, twinkling laugh. She patted my arm, then made her way to the coffee pot.
