Sofia's POV
After Mrs. Lee and Dr. Summer's visit, everything goes pretty fast. I am discharged and allowed to accompany Jacob and Lucas out through the hospital's large glass entrance with their approval. We stroll along the main street towards the square. They walk on either side of me, like massive guards. "What day is it today?" I wonder absently. The street seems quiet, and I have not kept track of the days I counted down for our escape.
"It's Saturday, the 25th!" Jacob answers. The 25th? Has it already been a week, oh? I have missed the midsummer celebration, they have missed midsummer. Of course, it's quiet today, it's Sunday. Most stores are closed, and people are home recovering from the festivities. Wait, do werewolves celebrate midsummer?
"Sorry" I mumble and look down at the sidewalk instead of at the picturesque little shops, restaurants, and cafes along the street. None of them answer, but Jacob takes my hand, and Lucas puts his hand on my lower back.
"Where are we going?" I wonder when they guide me past the square and further out of the center. All this activity is making me tired. Strangely enough, it feels like we're going uphill. I pant slightly. My attempts to hide it are useless. Jacob stops and forces me to a stop too.
"Angel, why don't you just say that you are tired?" He wonders anxiously. Looking me up and down.
"Oh, I don't want to be a nuisance!" I say breathlessly, and wave off his worries. He just shakes his head and lifts me without a word. He carries me bridal style up a hill that leads abruptly out of the village's dense settlements. I accept his whim and relax in his arms. Soon we see a single large well-kept lawn, with the forest as a surrounding wall in the distance. Upon a hill is a beautiful mansion-like house. It has three floors and a porch at the front. The stairs are wide and the house has double doors in solid wood. Everything looks extremely expensive. The house is painted white and has this large windows. It is beautiful! The driveway is paved and in front of the house it turns like a roundabout, you are, at least with a car forced to turn completely and drive down the same direction as you came. It's quiet, and I can not see anyone else outside but us.
"Um, maybe we should come back another time? We seem to be disturbing..." I'm trying to say, but Jacob just continues up the stairs. Lucas is already there, holding the door open. When we enter, my chin falls, all I can do is stare with big eyes. The open hall with double stairs is reminiscent of a hotel. All that is missing is the reception desk. Everything is bright, the walls are painted in a soft gray color with white moldings and white ceiling and darker oak floors. There are doors on the left and an open corridor directly under the stairs. To the right are two large white double doors that are open, the clinking testifies that it may be a dining room. A low murmur is heard over the sound of metal against porcelain. Jacob takes off towards the left stairs and continues to carry me up it. I just look around at all the beauty without seeing where he is going. Upon the ledge, I think he goes to the left again and up a new staircase to the top floor. The bright theme continues but changes to a soft blue tone instead of gray. When Jacob finally stops in front of a door and knocks, the nervousness returns. An intense pressure at my temple next to my eyes makes it difficult to concentrate. Jacob takes my hand and opens the door. The dark office is a huge contrast to the light corridor. The room is painted with black walls, the ceiling and floor have the same dark wooden boards. The windows have heavy curtains moved to the side allowing the summer light to flow into the room. The walls are covered with bookshelves, except one where there is a door and a black leather sofa. The room is dark but cozy for an office. In the middle are a large mahogany desk with a laptop and a few small piles of paper. A familiar man is sitting on the chair behind the desk, engulfed in the screen in front of him. he looks like Jacob but older and impossible enough, bigger. He looks up at me with kind eyes as Jacob pulls me into the room. His aura exudes power and dominance despite the kindly looking eyes. I gaze doubtfully at Jacob who continues to move forward. Lucas is behind us, he puts his hands on my hips forcing me forward. Alpha, he says shortly with a polite bow. Brother! says Jacob with a playful smile before he reaches the desk and slumps down into an armchair. The man I now understand is Johnny, the Alpha, and Jacob's brother gives him an eye roll before he gets up and walks around the desk towards me. All I do is keep staring at him unable to say anything. The pressure on my temples rises and I fiddle with a button on my dress.
Jacob leans back in the armchairs studying his brother, Lucas stands up behind the other. They're just waiting. When Johnny comes to me, he takes my trembling hands in his and breaks eye contact with me by bowing. Shocked, I manage to whisper a small, hi!
"Hi!" He says in a low voice and looks up at me with warmth. He rises and stands there again in his full length with my hands in his.
"I understand you have accepted Jacob and Lucas as yours? That you want to stay with us, the New moon" I nod with a faint smile.
"I'm so incredibly sorry for what you've had to endure, I want you to know that. But above all, I want you to know how incredibly grateful I am for your sacrifice." Jacob gives off a warning growl that makes me look at him. His eyes flicker alarmingly, when I turn to Lucas he is standing with clenched fists around the backrest.
"I don't understand?" I mumble.
"Mia ... he whispers, is for me, what you are for my brother and Luc here. My other half, the one that makes me whole. My mate, that was chosen for me by the moon goddess herself. She is my equal, the one who is meant to lead by my side, a mother to the whole pack, our Luna. And without your sacrifice, she would not have existed." Involuntary tears run down my cheeks. The thought of my sisters makes my chest ache and leads to thoughts of my family.
"You are family now, and we will always cherish you!" He finally says as a promise. I smile through my tears. A family, I have a family.
"Thank you" I manage to get out with a hoarse voice. The pressure on my temples explodes, and I feel my eyes roll back then everything turns black.

Jacobs POV
When my brother insists on mentioning what she's been exposed to, I get moderately annoyed. He doesn't have to remind her of the most terrible thing in her life. Her insecurity in front of him rolls off her in waves, and I would have preferred to have her in my lap. But she's safe with him, so we're in the background for now. When Johnny describes Mia to her, she relaxes, and soft tears roll down her cheeks. I can only hope she understands that she is that person to me. Equally important, equally irreplaceable, equally respected. But suddenly everything changes and she collapses. Johnny catches her before she reaches the ground and gently lays her down. Luc and I surround her trembling body, it's as if she's had some kind of seizure. When she suddenly takes a deep breath like after being underwater and opens her eyes she looks straight at Johnny. He growls a warning, after which I give him the same treatment. He can't growl at my angel. When she turns her face towards me, I see a change that makes the hairs on my neck stand up. Her eyes are no longer deep blue but violet. When she turns to Johanny again, she speaks in a brighter voice: "Alpha, I'm sorry we meet like this. But it is necessary. I know you're looking for the Auroras, and I do not have much time to explain. I'm trying to explain to Sofia here at the same time, she will get more information than you I'm afraid. Speaking through her like this is more energy-consuming than talking to her. The Aurores have what they need. At the winter solstice, they will begin the attempt to awaken the black dawn. You have to stop them! Your Luna is here, she's safe at the moment. They need her, but they do not know her importance to you. I'll keep it a secret, and try to protect her. Tina wants to let Tobias know she is alive. could you please tell him she misses him?" she pauses and waits for Johnny to respond. Sofia's face is beaded with sweat.
"I'll tell him!" Lucas says with a pained expression on his face. The person using Sofias nods appreciatively.
"Who are you?" Johnny asks giving her a stern look.
"I'm Stella, a friend, and a witch within the order. I'll see you soon, Alpha!"
Suddenly Sofia falls back again, and her body relaxes. We all look at each other, Luc with pain in his eyes, I only feel confusion, and Johnny shows a wave of huge anger. He gets up quickly and sits down behind the desk again. He links someone so we let him be. I gently lift my angel off the floor and carry her away to the couch. Luc follows and sits down. He takes her gently and holds her against him. I turn back to Johnny, only to be met by Atlas' black eyes. I bow deeply and don't utter a word.
"You should take her to her room, she needs to rest. She will be a part of the pack, with the bear at the next full moon if she wants. You will resume your place at the southern border, no more slacking with training. You bear; I expect you to train as part of us from now on." He says. Yes Alpha, both Luc and I answer in unison and get up at the same time as the pack's Beta and Gamma enter the office together with the head trainer for the central part of our territory. Atlas takes one last look at Sofia before continuing. "I've always wanted a little sister, take care of her!"
"Always", we respond before we leave the room with a new bow.
