Pups And Cubs

Jacobs POV    After carrying her to the room, she was provided with, and putting her on the bed Luc went to find Tobias as promised. And I took my place in the nearby armchair. She looks peaceful, like sleeping beauty, as in the story. After days of sleeping in hospital chairs, this feels so comfortable and as she is sleeping, I can close my eyes for a little while. She is safe. As I drift off a sudden outburst makes me jump up again. Her Angelic laughter fills the room making me and Blue settle down and growl playfully at her for startling us.  "Why are you sitting there?!" She wonders through the laughter. And it appears to me that she might not feel completely comfortable with us always watching her sleep. It's only been a couple of days, she doesn't know us yet. But I can't find in my heart to leave. "You were sleeping," I mumble like it's oblivious. "So, go and sleep too!" She reasoned, still laughing. "Not leaving you!" I state bluntly and slump back down to the soft armchair. She stops laughing and bit her lower lip contemplating what I just said. She is adorable when she does that, and I want to be the one nibbling at her lower lip. The thought of her lips is making me and Blue shiver in delight. She moves a little in the bed and patted the covers beside her. Is she serious?  What are you waiting for? Blue wonders annoyed. What if she isn't ready? Shut up, she wants us. Go to her! He orders and I can't disagree with him any longer. It will be fine. And I want to feel her soft skin, smell her. The thought makes me grin from ear to ear.  Slowly I walk up to her and take the offered place on the bed. She smiles and lays down on the pillows looking at me with a raised eyebrow so I lean back and lay down with her. The air between us is unbearable, but I don't want her to feel scared. So for a moment, we lay there looking at the ceiling, quiet. I want to touch her, no I need to touch her. Carefully I reach my fingers out for hers and brush her soft skin. She doesn't move away, the opposite, she grabs my hand and holds it. The sparks from her skin are amazing, this pleasant sensation makes my whole body relax. I want to see her, reluctantly I let go of her hand and roll over to lay on my side towards her instead. Her golden hair flows out over the pillows. Her nose is cute, round, and turns upwards just a little near the tip. Her soft plump lips are pink. Her complexion is still pale after her time in captivity and her yellowed bruises are reminiscent of how fragile she is, and of her humanity. When she also rolls over on the side and faces me, she is even more breathtaking than ever. I do not seem to be able to get used to the depths of her eyes. Her breathing changes, it becomes shallow and her eyes reflect doubt and uncertainty. "Angel, stop doubting yourself. I can see the wheels turning in your head. Believe me, you are beautiful!" "Thank you!" she whispers breathlessly and takes a deep breath before continuing. "Jacob, I'm not tired. And we have to talk about the Auroras ..." "So, tell me!" I urge and keep eye contact with her, happy to be near her.  ***  After learning everything Stella, the witch has told my wonderful angel, I feel speechless. No matter how interesting the information is, it is quite useless. We cannot use it for more than reflecting on what their purpose is. But we cannot find them based on what they intend to do. It is with a hopeless sigh that Sofia seems to give up just like me. We continue to lie there, and I cannot help but be completely engrossed in her. Blue is always present but he neither says anything nor tries to take over. It's more like he's just enjoying being with her. She lies there, relaxing with her eyes closed. When she sighs again, she is noticeably happy. When I ask if she wants something to eat and she wants to stay here a little longer, I cannot deny her. Carefully I take her hands in mine and bring them up to my nose. She's not afraid of us anymore, Blue purrs in my head. "You're not afraid of me," I murmured. It's a statement and not a question. And she hummed a simple no in response. Making me smile. "You smell good!" she suddenly started, making me chuckle and raise our hands to my face. Slowly I rub my nose against her soft fingers. "What has that got to do with anything?" I mumble with my lips so close to her fingers. "Nothing! But it's true!" "You smell heavenly," I sigh, "like Christmas!" "Do I smell like meatballs and ham?" She laughs. "Cloves and oranges!" I laughed and kissed her fingers lightly. An act that makes her freeze in the middle of a breath. For some reason she suddenly becomes nervous. "Calm down!" I comfort and resume rubbing my nose against her fingers, an act that didn't scare her. "Do you remember? You don't have to be afraid of us. Not everyone is like him." "I know, I know!" She breathes. "He is an exception ... but you don’t directly belong to the majority either. You're pretty unique!" “Well, maybe!” I chuckle smugly. "Jacob, can we go out?" "On a date?" "Outside!" "On a date?" "Are you asking me out?" she giggle. "It was you who asked!" I laughed, making her open her eyes to me. Her face is beautiful, her eyes, those blue eyes! "Jacob, do you want to go on a date with me?" She asks seriously, surprising me and shutting me up. My heart flutters as I realize this is for real, she is asking me out! "Yes!" I say just as seriously. I want her to understand how much I want this.  "Damn! Now I have to plan a date, I don't even know where I am!" she laughs a little nervously. "You are here, with me. With the new moon! And as you did the asking, I can handle the planning!" "Well, teamwork!" she giggles.   After booking our date, it's time to eat something. So we go down to the dining room and I make my way between the tables to my brother who is sitting and talking to his Gamma, Isaac, and his daughter Isabella. Sofia seems a little nervous and stays behind me. When Isaac greets her and Izzy throws herself after her with joy that is only found in children, she relaxes noticeably and focuses wholeheartedly on the little girl. When the food is served, I offer to pick some up for her as well. Isaac wonders if Sofia can take Izzy, which she happily agrees to. When she receives the little one as if she has never done anything else in her life and puts her on the table, I get goosebumps. I cannot tear my eyes from her where she sits completely engrossed in their conversation. Her smile radiates as she nods and confirms the little girl's babbling. Blue enjoys the sight; she’s perfect, he purrs at me. She really is, isn't she? We need to give her pups! He growls playfully and mentally waves his tail. When she's ready, beast. I scowl. She is ready, look at her! He says with excitement and turns our attention back to her. She sits and talks to Tobias completely relaxed with Izzy on her lap and letting her toothless chew on her fingers. It looks so natural. "Do you long for your own?!" Isaac suddenly asks and wakes me out of my bizarre staring. Somehow we have managed to get to the food queue and are now waiting for our turn. "You could say that!" I answer with a massive grin. "She's a natural with Izzy." he chuckles. "Yes!" I answer without being able to take my eyes off her. Lucas POV After the whole thing with the witch taking over my partner's body to communicate with the Alpha of the new Moon about a sect of witches trying to take over the world. I feel quite overwhelmed. This was not what I had expected, to find her in this way, to have to share her, and now also to know that she is a part of stopping the doom of the world. Well, sharing could have been worse. After Jacob took Sofia to her room and I asked around a bit, I now stand outside Tobias' room in this giant house. I close my eyes tightly and take a deep breath. The boy is innocent, he is a victim. He did what he could to help our angel. Still, I have to make an effort not to be angry with him. But I cannot deny that I am a part of making her suffer longer than necessary. I could have taken Hugo myself if I had trusted Tobias and followed him right away. She could have been free from him before the sun came up. But no, I doubted, and she suffered. With a heavy sigh, I knock on the door that is his. When he opens and backs away, I hold up my hands disarmingly. "I just want to talk, can I come in?" He shrugs and backs away, still looking at me suspiciously. The room is nice, gray, with dark furniture. "Do you like it here?!" I wonder in an attempt to start a conversation. He keeps looking at me suspiciously but does not seem to be quite as insecure. "Yes." He answers briefly and gestures towards an armchair, I nod and sit down in it. He sits on the edge of the bed and waits. The silence is uncomfortable. Well, here it goes! I sigh and recount the events at John's office. How Sofia became possessed and how a witch communicated with us using her body. And I tell him about the message from Tina. "She wants you to know that she's alive and that she misses you!" At my last words, he covered his face with both hands rubbing his face, and exhaled heavily. "She misses me?" he mumbles more to himself. "Yes," I confirm not knowing what else to say. I can't imagine losing one of my siblings for years, not knowing where they are and how they are. I've lost River, well he was taken from us. But we know who has him, now we need to find where he is kept. The alpha has the campsite under observation. The regular New moon members working there are informed to be on the lookout for the guy Sofia described in her interview. But still, the thought makes my blood boil. I close my eyes tight again and breathe slowly in an attempt to calm down. "I want to thank you, and ask you something." I say while opening my eyes, "Why did you turn to me for help? Why not the New moon employees?" He looks at me apprehensively and then sighs.  “No offense, it was your way of speaking to your father. He is a friend of Hugo and Arthur, but not a friend of yours. It made me trust you!” That reason made me chuckle.  “And, Hugo is a wolf. I don’t trust wolves that much…” That just made me laugh!  “That's understandable! You’re brave, and I appreciate everything you have done for her, thank you!” It sounds insufficient and just not enough. How do you thank someone when they have saved your life? I stayed with Tobias, talking for quite some time. He is a nice guy, and his life has been unfair, and everyone needs a friend.    When it’s time for lunch we go down to the dining hall only to see her sitting at a table with a baby. She is absolutely radiant and she is so happy, it’s like she is shining. All of a sudden Tobias is forgotten and all I can think of is her and I walk up to her table and stare at her. She sits and listens to this small treasure talking nonsense. She needs to know, so I lean down and brush my lips to her ear and feel the warmth spread through my body.  “You, are, incredibly beautiful right now!” She turns her head and rubs my cheek with her nose making me shiver with delight. Such a small gesture, with a great impact. When Tobias announces his presence and she shrieks with happiness I just lean back and observe her. Thoughts of her expecting my cub sneaks up on me and I find myself daydreaming about Sofia, her belly round from carrying my child inside her. Jacob taps my shoulder and wakes me up, I just glare at him but he doesn't notice. He is admiring Sofia the same way I did.  Tobias and I walk off to the food and when we come back the conversations are flowing freely. We eat and talk, and the entire time all I can look at is her, with the small child sleeping in her embrace. When Isaac starts to tell her about his mate Charlotte I vaguely hear the exchange:  "She will love you! You are absolutely incredible, you made her fall asleep, just like that!" "Oh she's an angel, and I'm used to it, my little sisters were unbearable when their teeth started coming! Give it two years and it will be time for them to start dropping them instead..." When she trails off the spell is broken and it’s like a bucket of cold water is thrown over me. Her eyes are brimming with tears as she hands the baby back to Isaac and hastily walks out. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to upset her,” Isaac said with his face in sincere horror.  “No worries man...” Jacob starts to ensure as I stand up to walk after her. I follow her scent outside and find her on the ground struggling to breathe. My heart breaks, I never want to see her cry.  I sit down beside her and lift her into my lap and hold her, I caress her back and try my best to comfort her. Slowly her crying becomes small sobs and her breathing becomes even, she leans into me and whispers: "Sorry ..."  "You have nothing to be sorry about angel, you can be just however sad you need!" I breathed. We sit quietly outside for a while, she lifted her head and put her cheek against my shoulder. When she finally looks up, I look down upon her and again I’m drowning in her deep eyes.   "Lucas, I want to go home now," she begs, and I can’t deny her even if I wanted to.  "As you wish, Honey," I murmur while brushing my lips against her forehead.
