The First Days Pt. 2

Mina POV

I wake to my alarm going off. It's 5:30. I smile as I think about last night. Jace is amazing and I figured out to get him and Xavier riles up. Definitely doing that again. I look at Jace. His arms are still wrapped around me. "Jace, it's ti to get up," I say shaking his shoulder. He groans, "five more minutes sweetheart." I smile. He's so cute. "No my love. We have to get up for training," I say shaking him again. He grabs me and rolls on top of me. "Or, we could just stay here and I could make love to you all day," He whispers as he kisses my neck. I groan, "as tempting as that is, I need to go to training. I have to put that she wolf in her place. I will not allow disrespect." He looks at me and smiles. "You are amazing. I concede, but I will have you in bed all day one of these days.

We get out of bed and dressed for training. We head down stairs to the kitchen. I grab an apple to eat really quick and head out to the training grounds. It’s now 6:00. Our group files out behind us as well as the Bloodstone brothers. We all head over to the training grounds. I look around and survey the area. Kyle and Chase come up and ask Jace, “This is nice, but would you mind if we change it a little so we can train? We will put it back after we are done.” Jace looks at them like they are crazy but agrees. I watch the Bloodstone brothers walk out onto the field and separate. “You are going to love what they can do,” I tell Jace. “What do you mean?” Dylan asks. I smile and say, “Just watch.”

Trevor, Justin, and Micha shift to their dark brown dragons. I hear gasps and look around. There are more pack members out here now. I think most of them are warriors. I turn back to the field just as they fly up and then dive down to the ground and burrow into it. At the same time Kyle, Justin, and Stefan are using their powers to cause boulders to erupt from the ground. I can feel the tremors from the dragons below and feel that the are about to emerge. All three dragons explode up from the ground causing gasps and screams to come from the gathered crowd. Each dragon pushed an enormous hill up from the ground. I see Chase shifts and start making a trench. The other dragons join him and soon an elaborate trench system is built. Kyle and Stefan shift and start spewing out molten rock to fill the trenches. Once the others are done making the trenches they join and soon the trenches are filled. They all shift back and come over to us. “It’s not the best, but it should do for now. If we are going to be staying in this area we will need to make several training fields,” Trevor says.

Jace and Dylan are staring with their mouths open. I laugh and tap Jace on his chin. He shakes his head and tries to talk, but words are just not forming.

Jace POV

I cannot believe what I am witnessing. The guys just shifted to dragons, that do not look like Mina and MJ, and dove under the ground. The others that have not shifted are moving the ground around. Dragons shoot out of the ground and form giant, rocky hills. Now they are making trenches and filling them with, ‘Is that f***ing lava,’ Devon links me. ‘I think it is,’ I respond. ‘I’m glad we are their allies. I think just these guys alone could wipe out a pack,’ he says. Hmmm, he’s not wrong. If the dragons were this strong, why did they need to go into hiding. I am going to have to talk to Maximus and ask some questions about their history.

Once they all shift back and come over, I cannot help at stare at the amazing sight before me. There are small mountains and hills, with lava flowing around rocks causing them to look like islands. I don’t know how anyone trains on this. ‘Did Trevor just say it’s not the best but it would do?’ Devon asks me. “So, you guys train on something different at home,” I ask Trevor. “Something similar. Each training field is different. All dragons train on all fields so we can train against our weaknesses and different terrain. This field is ideal for Fire and Earth Dragons,” Trevor says. “I have so many questions, but those can wait until after we see your training,’ I say. He nods at me.

“OK, Let’s do some training guys,” MJ says. All of the dragons except Maximus, Callan, Toby, and Ralph go to the field. “Are you guys not going to train,” I ask Maximus. “No, someone will need to keep you from jumping into the fire to save your mate,” Maximus laughs. “That was impressive just watching the field be made,” Devon says. Ralph laughs out, “Yes, well my boys may have been showing off a bit, but it did get made fast. It only took 30 minutes.” I watch Mina intently, waiting to see what is going to happen. I see them all jump out over the lava. Xavier is already pacing in my head growling about how Mina is to close to something that could hurt her badly. ‘Stop it Xavier. She is a warrior and a Dragon. I don’t think lava affects her the way it would us,’ I scold him. He growls at me but stops so he can watch. Suddenly, they are all fighting each other. I see Mina and MJ run up the small mountain at some of the Bloodstone brothers hurl flaming rocks at them. Mina and MJ shift and dive towards them breathing fire. Everyone steps back. I can feel the heat from their sparing. Mina pulls up and then dives down quickly under the lava. Xavier lets out and snarl. I feel a hand on my shoulder and see that Maximus has his hand there holding me back. “She’s fine son, Sapphire actually likes a good lava bath. Women like their baths hot, she just takes it to another level,” Maximus laughs. I relax a bit. If her father is not worried then I will try not to worry. This is just new to me.

I watch the lava, waiting for my mate to emerge. Everyone training has shifted to their Dragons. I can sense Devon and Dylan’s nervousness. I look over to them quickly and notice that Callan and Toby are doing what Maximus is for me. I look back to the field just as Mina burst up from the lava bringing a wave of lava up and over all of the dragons near her. Roars are sounding and I see Mina get tackled by one of the brothers. I tense but relax as she uses her legs to launch him off of her.

Maximus steps forward and roars out, “Everyone stills and looks to him. Training is done for now. Good job everyone. Shift back and boys, put the field back to normal. We don’t want any whelps falling in because they are curious about it.” A warrior that is standing nearby asks what a whelp is. I tell him that’s what they call their children, like we call ours pups.

Mina POV

Training was fun. I haven’t trained with the Bloodstone brothers in about a month. They work really well together and are very skilled and strong. Sapphire decides to show off and plummet into the lava. ‘You are scaring our mate,’ I scold. ‘But, the lava feels so good. He will be fine. I will explain to Xavier that it doesn’t hurt us,’ she responds. We fly up and spread lava over anyone nearby. I get tackled by Chase and throw him off of me. Right after that, Dad calls training over. ‘Do you guys need help putting this back,’ I link the brothers. They all shake their heads. Everyone but the brothers shift back and go to join the spectators. The brothers get to work on removing the lava. I watch as the wolves’ eyes are huge watching six dragons eat lava. Well, it can’t stay there, so it has to go somewhere.

I walk up to Jace, stand on my toes and give him a quick kiss. “What did you think,” I ask. “You were amazing. I have never seen anything like that. I won’t lie. Xavier and I were a bit of a mess when you dove into the lava. Your dad had to hold be back,” he responds. I laugh, “Sorry, Sapphire loves lava baths. She said she would talk to Xavier so he won’t worry about it.” He wraps me in a hug and I hear a throat clear from behind Jace. Jace whirls around and I see it is Kelly. “Don’t think that your little bit of showing off deters me. I still say that you are not that strong and that you have Jace under a spell,” Kelly says. Jace growls at her, “It is Alpha Jace to you Kelly. You were never given permission to call me without my title.” Kelly pales a little but doesn’t shrink back. “I challenge you for the position of Luna,” Kelly spits out. I walk up to her, look her straight in the eyes and say, “I accept. When would you like to do this?” “As soon as the dragons the ruined the training field put it back together. Honestly, I can’t believe they did that. So disrespectful. When I am Luna, there will be none of that and I will ban dragons from the territory,” She says. I snarl at her and hear multiple roars. “Even if you win this challenge, which I do not expect you to, you have no authority to over ride an alliance that I, as the Alpha have made,” Jace growls out and continues, “I will warn you Kelly, if you win, I may kill you just so you cannot be Luna. I will talk with the council first. But I can tell you this. I will never mate with you. That was a one-time thing and I do not know why you think you are owed the Luna position because I f***ed you one time. That is all it was, a f**k, and not a good one either.” I laugh at what he says. “Princess,” I turn to see Chase. “The field is back to normal and ready for the challenge,” he says. “Thank you, Chase,” I say. I look at him and he looks sad for some reason. I walk onto the training field with Kelly behind me. We get to the center and Devon steps forward to referee the challenge. “The rules are, no outside assistance of any kind, no shifting, and no kill shots This will be until one of you submit to the other,” Devon says. I nod but Kelly says, “And no using any over your freaky powers.” “That’s fine, I won’t need them to beat you,” I say. I see Chase out of the corner of my eye wince with her words. ‘Check on Chase. Something is going on with him,’ I link MJ. I see MJ walk over to him and talk to him. I keep looking at Kelly while watching MJ and Chase out of the corner of my eye. ‘That b***h. She is Chase’s mate but is not acknowledging it. He is hurt and it hurt him when she said freaky powers. Kick her ass. Chase says he is going to reject her after the match,’ MJ links. I see red.

Devon steps out of the field but remains close enough to separate us if needed. He yells begin and she lunges towards me. I side step her and use her momentum to flip her over my arm. She lands on her back and growls at me, “You bitch.” “Yeah, I think that is you,” I respond. She gets up and tries to lunge for me again. I side step her again, but she stops her movement and tries to aim a kick at me. I catch her leg and twist it making her fall again. “How can you do this? How can you know that your mate is here and challenge me for a position that was never yours, for someone that doesn’t care for you in that way,” I yell and kick her side causing her to roll away. “How can you possibly know that,” she says sounding surprised but still runs at me again. I run towards her and jump, twisting my body and landing my foot across her face. She flies to the side and I jump on top of her and punch her in the face. “Because, I asked my brother to check on him and he told him everything. You are disgraceful,” I say as I stand up pulling her with me by her hair. She screams in pain. Once she is standing, I kick her in the stomach causing her to double over. I round house kick her in the head again and she crumples to the ground. I lean over her and roar, “SUBMIT.” She is whimpering but submits to me by baring her neck to me. I turn and run back to Jace, whom is already on the field making his way to me. He holds me taking in my scent while I do the same.

I see Chase and MJ walking onto the field towards Kelly. Kelly stumbles to her feet and is crying. ‘Jace, what it her surname,’ I link. ‘It’s Anderson,’ he links back. I link that information to Chase as he walks up to Kelly. Kelly looks at him and says, “I’m sorry.” Chase shakes his head sadly, “I don’t know why you continued this even after you knew I was your mate. You walked away from me without saying anything when I claimed you as mine.” She cries, “I thought I loved Jace, but I realize that it was wrong.” Chase just keeps shaking his head, “I can’t forgive that. I, Chase Bloodstone of the former Bloodstone Horde, reject you Kelly Anderson of the Black Diamond Pack as my mate.” Kelly crumples to the ground clutching her chest crying. MJ has a hand on Chase steadying him. They both turn and walk away. Chases brothers and father are waiting for him. They all go inside to talk. Jace steps forward and says, “Kelly, I am transferring you to another pack in another state. I do not want you here. You challenged my marked and mated Luna, and you hurt your mate and her friend. You have one hour to pack your things. Devon will have papers for you when you are done. I do not want to see you again. Jace takes my hand and leads me off of the field and into the house to find the Bloodstone family.

We find them in a small room. We knock and they give us permission to enter. We do so and close the door behind us. Jace walks up to Chase. I am shocked. I have never seen Chase shed a single tear, but he is crying. ‘That was his mate and she hurt him,” Sapphire says in a low whine. She feels bad for her friend. Jace pulls Chase into a bro hug. “I am sorry that this happened. She had no reason to think I had any feelings for her. I promise, it was only one time,” Jace says. Chase laughs, “It’s not you having s*x with her that I am upset about. She didn’t even acknowledge me. She just walked away when I called her my mate. Rocky is crushed.” “Your Dragon is an Earth Dragon named Rocky,” Jace asks. I can tell he is trying to lighten the mood. They all burst out laughing. Chase clutches his stomach he is laughing so hard, “Yes, but you should hear the names of their Dragons.” Chase gets control of himself. “Thank you Alpha Jace. You are a good man. I am proud that you are Princess Mina’s mate and soon to be Dragon Prince.” Jace shakes his head, “Please call me Jace, you are a friend and I can tell that you would protect Mina from anything. That goes for your family. You do not need to use formalities with me unless we are in a formal setting.” They all nod at him and thank him. I step forward and stomp my foot at Chase, “And how many times have I told you to call me Mina,” Chase throws his hands up in surrender, “I will from now on. Thank you for kicking her a**.” “Anytime. You will find your second chance mate. I just feel it,” I say. Jace and I leave the room to give the family some time and to update MJ and my father on how Chase is doing. I’m sure they are fuming mad.
