Chapter 13: Overstepping Boundaries
[ Derek ]
Derek didn't mean to snoop, this time when he went to Trinity's house in the middle of the night, he had her best interests on his mind. He had figured that if he came by late in the night, they wouldn't have to worry about her father interrupting and cutting their conversation short. But when Derek came to a halt at the front of the two story house, he stood there perplexed.
On the second story, a bedroom with forest green curtains had a bright glow to it. With his enhanced sight, Derek could see the outline and vague features of a woman.
Instead of rushing to see who the figure was, he took the cautious route, waiting to make sure that it wasn't Trinity. But it couldn't have been, Trinity wasn't that tall, and her eyes were much more blue. "What the hell?" Derek muttered, and as if on cue, the woman turned to face him.
Her eyes widened and she turned back to the bed, staring at the girl laying in it with longing eyes before disappearing after a light swoosh of feathers.
A moment passed, and Derek took that time to try to recuperate and figure out what he had just witnessed. Beacon Hills was infested with supernatural of all different types, ones that even Derek didn't know existed, and maybe Trinity was one of those types that he hadn't encountered yet. But in all honesty, he wasn't sure if he wanted to take the risk to find out what she was.

Trinity wasn't the kanima, she knew for a fact she wasn't a giant green lizard with scales, a tail, and claws that injected a paralytic toxin. But above all, Trinity knew she wasn't a killer.
Allison and her friends, however, begged to differ and that showed as the brunette chased Trinity down the hall the second the blonde entered the school building. Noticing the girl, Trinity's eyes widened and she changed her direction, deciding that she didn't have to go to her locker until first period was over, but as she looked up from the ground, she realized she was now blocked by Stiles and Scott. "I am not this kanima thing you keep talking about."
The trio shifted their weight from foot to foot, all checking behind themselves to make sure no one else heard what the blonde had said. "We know, we know who it is."
Trinity let out a deep breath, her shoulders relaxing as she took their words as good news. Now that they knew who the creature was, she was no longer needed for their secret supernatural rendezvous. "Good, so now you can leave me alone?"
"Actually, no," Stiles bluntly informed. "—quite the opposite actually."
"What do you mean? Now that we've all established that I am not the one killing people, you need to leave me alone." Trinity's blue eyes darted over to the nearest clock rested high above on the walls, a reminder that class would start in a matter of minutes. "I need to go."
The moment Trinity stepped forward to leave, a hand shot out to grab her wrist, pulling her back to her original spot with such strength that it had her body hardening at familiarity of the harsh touch. She identified the hand as Scott's, who let her go when he smelled the putrid odor of fear radiating off of her body. "How do you know Gerard?"
The question took Trinity by surprise. "Argent? He's talking to my dad. They made up, I guess. He's been coming to my house a lot after my dad gets off work."
"Do you know what they talk about?" Allison pressed, her curly brown hair resting perfectly on her shoulders as if they weren't bouncing all over the place moments earlier when she chanced Trinity down the hallway.
"No." Trinity disagreed, clutching her backpack straps with her small hand, the free hand idly picking at the fuzz that stuck to her skirt. "—I don't eavesdrop. But Gerard's been asking me a lot of questions about my mom."
Stiles stepped forward, one hand reaching up to run over the buzzed brown hair that rested on his head. "Where's she?"
Trinity deflated, tears stinging in the back of her eyes begging to be shed as the scab was picked and blood was threatening to pour out at the mention of her mother. "She's dead." She coughed, and averted her gaze, refusing to let these people see her cry. "I need to get to class, so excuse me."
"Trinity we were just—"
"—overstepping your bounds. I moved here to get a fresh start. Make new friends and start a new life without being reminded of my losses, but clearly that's not going to happen."
