Chapter 15: I Had A Dream [ Trinity ] It was dark where she was, the same place every time she closed her eyes. The dark forest with its dew covered leaves, the cold air freezing her body so numb she couldn't feel the sticks digging into her feet. It was all familiar to her, and as she ran through the dense trees, she could see the bright light shining brightly and allowing a blissful warmth on her skin. It was like a calling, and each time she made it to the center of the woods, the light disappeared and she awoke. She shook her head, using one hand to rub her forehead, trying to decipher what the reoccurring dream meant as she walked down the stairs. "Trinity, I thought you were going to the rave with your friends." "I don't remember saying anything about a rave, Sam." Trinity responded, her eyes darting to the table that was covered in thick silver chains with hand and ankle locks. "What's going on?" "Why are you home?" "It's almost nine o'clock." Sam rubbed his forehead, keeping his cool as he stood up straight. He was sweating profusely and his hands were shaking at his sides. "Do you have a ticket to the rave, Trinity?" "No, I wasn't going to go." A hand came up to rub his jaw and his eyes flashed a frightening yellow, one that was void of all brilliance. It wasn't friendly and didn't hold the kind of power that sounded familiar from reading the bestiary. It was supposed to be a golden yellow, not a pale one with black overtaking the whites. "Trinity, you need to leave." She stepped back, not being able to look away as his fingernails grew longer than she deemed possible, sharpening to a threatening point. His mouth stretched out wide, long pointed teeth filling it. "Sam, what's happening?" He hunched over, a sickening crack sounding in the room. His skin was red and on his back, along his spine sprouted out long bones that pointed and had smaller spikes rimming the entire length. Sam grew in size, standing at a tall eight feet. His muscles grew and Trinity looked at the silver chains behind him wondering how he would've managed to stay chained to them. "Sam's not here." Trinity screamed and turned to run up the stairs, but five of her steps were one of his. The monster caught up to her in no time, picking up her small body and throwing it to the floor so harshly that her vision went clouded with stars. "Stupid girl, you think that you can run from me?" "What are you?" "Come on Trinity, we do this every time. Can't there be one lifetime where you ask a different question." Her brows furrowed and she started crawling backwards, trying to get away from the beast that took shape over her fathers form. "What are you talking about?" The thing shook it's large head, the horns that came from it scraping gently against the ceiling of the house, making indents as it moved. It's nose was permanently scrunched up, with a mouth that was turned into a scowl. Blood dripped from it as the sharp set of teeth scraped against its own skin, but it didn't seem bothered by it. "This is your punishment, you're a fallen. You disobeyed orders and I've been sent to punish you until the ends of time." "I don't know what your talking about." The ugly creature smiled devilishly, the blood dripping down its chin and sending raindrops to the floor. "You will." «» Trinity woke the following morning with bruises all over her body and a painful ache on her shoulder. As she woke fully and remembered what happened the night before she jumped up off the floor. Her clothes were shredded, handing limply off her fragile limbs. She was bleeding from tiny cuts to the very large bite on her shoulder, and one jagged tooth remained in her skin. She stopped, looking for the culprit of the situation but Sam was nowhere to be found and neither was the large beast that took him over. Tears ran freely down her face as she went into the bathroom, taking a shower and allowing the water to wash away all of the blood. She couldn't remember anything, how she got the marks or what all happened to her—a result of her passing out during the whole experience. A knock on her door made her body freeze and silence the sobs. "Trinity, you in there?" "Yes." She barely answered, scared for what could come if she didn't. Sam hesitated before speaking again. "You got out last night right? You didn't stay home?" For a moment she was going to tell the truth, say no she hadn't. She wanted to tell him that she saw what he'd become, and how he'd hurt her so severely. "Yeah, I went to that rave. I found a ticket last minute." "What's all that stuff on the floor downstairs?" My blood. "Paint, I spilled some this morning by accident. I was going to clean it up but I wanted to take a shower first so I didn't track prints all over the house." Sam nodded even bough she couldn't see it, and his hands ran over his stubbly jaw. "Make sure you clean it up before you leave Trinity. I'd hate to have to punish you for making such a mess." "Yes, sir." "I'm your father, Trinity. Start treating me like it." No further words were exchanged and Trinity waited until she head the door shut to the room own the hall before she started crying again, long, hard sobs that made her body shake. The water had gone cold and it made chill bumps spread across all of her skin, but she didn't care. He'd done God knows what to her last night, and she didn't even remember and neither did he.
