Chapter 25: We're All in This Together [ Trinity ] Christopher Argent wasn't the top on the list of likely allies but he worked. "Are you tracking by print?" "Trying to." "Then you're wasting your time." Chris pointed to a series of footprints made in the dirt. "These are yours and these—" "Are Cora's," Isaac finished, leaning against the tree, confident in his answer. The hunter shook his head, declining the boys response. "Actually, they're yours. You trampled Cora's." Trinity laughed a bit, earning a light smack on the shoulder. "Rough night for you, Lahey." "By now, the full moon has taken full control over Boyd and Cora. The only way you'll find them is by scent and when you use your sight, you'll be able to see their body heat and catch them." "Not catch," Trinity murmured, finally realizing what they were doing wrong. "We'll never catch them, it's unrealistic but we can contain them. Keep them locked in a spot long enough for the sun to come up." They looked over the highest point of Beacon Hills that overlooked the whole city. "The school is right at the edge of the woods. Would anyone still be there?" "Doubt it." Scott looked at his phone, checking the time that showed little past three in the morning. "Where would we keep them?" A silence was in the air before Isaac spoke. "The boiler room. It's just one big steel door, no windows or anything for them to break out of." The plan finally started coming together. "Okay, now how do we lead them there?" Chris unzipped his large back duffle bag, pulling out a tool that resembled a lawn light. He clicked the button at the top, a light flashing out from the middle. Three werewolves covered their ears and closed their eyes tightly trying to block out the high-pitched sound. "It's a ultrasonic emitter. It's set at a frequency that only werewolves can hear." "No kidding." Trinity looked hopefully at the item, taking it from Chris' hand. "Do you have a lot of these, because they could come in handy." "I have a whole closet full, I'll send some to your house." "I could get them from Allison, my dad doesn't like suspicious packages." Derek coughed, effectively stopping the conversation between the teenager and hunter. "We're using those to guide them to the school?" Each person received two and it was decided that Chris and Trinity ride together and leave the running to the werewolves with more stamina. Driving ahead was the easy part and after each wolf let off an emitter, Chris would receive a text to tell when it was time for them to plant theirs. "Is you're dad around much?" "Is that important?" "Not particularly, I'm just trying to make conversation." Throwing her emitter out the window and into the soft dirt after pressing the button she sighed and rolled up the window. "Not much anymore, but I haven't been home much this summer either." "Right, you're with Derek." "Excuse me?" Chris glanced over at her with knowing blue eyes. "Helping him find Erica and Boyd, Scott told me you guys have been at it all summer." "You have no idea." "I'm only asking because if your father found out you were dating a werewolf, you wouldn't be let off with a warning." Trinity tensed, her fists clenching around the handle on the door. "Who told you about Derek and I?" "He did. Well, how he watches you." Chris clarified, pulling up into the school parking lot, knowing the wolves were on the other side. He pulled a gun from the back, checking the magazine and sliding it back in. "If you guys were trying to hide it, try harder." Exiting the car, she moved towards the front where she could hear the growling. "What happened?" "They went around." "I'll open the doors." Without leaving room for question Trinity ran across the school making it to the back door in plenty time to open them. An arrow was shot, directing Boyd and Cora into the school. "Does your dad know you're out here?" Allison was dressed in all black, her hair secure in a bun atop her head as she lowered her bow. "Does yours?" "My lips are sealed." The plan went through, both rogue wolves were chased into the basement and locked into the boiler room. Trinity took a minute to get there, not finding any reason to rush but when she saw the looks on Scott and Isaacs face she froze. "Where's Derek?" "Trin—" She looked around, finding Chris but not the person she was looking for. "Where is Derek?" "He told us not to open the door." Loud growls and the ripping of clothes sounded in the boiler room and that alone was enough to make the blonde sink to the floor, her hand covered over her mouth. "They're going to kill him." "No they aren't, he's an alpha. He heals fast." "They're betas drugged up on a full moon, two against one isn't exactly a fair fight." Isaac took her, pulling her away from the fight she wanted to stop. "He's going to be okay." They waited and the longer they did the less believable it seemed. They weren't stopping and Trinity could only imagine the pain Derek was in. "The suns coming up." Scott opened the door, running inside the other two teens following behind. "Derek?" Resting on his knees, Derek had blood all over him, his shirt ripped and the wounds the betas had inflicted were starting to heal but he was weak. Both bodies, Boyd and Cora laid on his sides exhausted from the high the full moon had given them. "There's someone in the back, get her out." Trinity rushed to him, her small hands cupping both sides of his face. "You're so stupid, stop coming up with ideas that can get you killed." "I'm impulsive, you're going to have to get used to it." "Are you saying what I thing you're saying?" "I'm saying that you're my girlfriend and you're going to have to deal with me and my impulsive ways." The blonde smiled at him, helping him stand. "I couldn't ask for anything better."
