Prologue
In a dark place, two souls remained in their youth. They danced and sang and accompanied each other throughout the moons. "S.O.S. she's in disguise," the anonymous sang. "Please, stop," pleaded the other. "S.O.S. she's in disguise," the anonymous continued. "We are going to get copyrighted," the other smacked his forehead. "There's a she-wolf in disguise," the anonymous began to dance. "Ahhh, here we go," the other gave up. "Coming out, coming out, coming out." Adam turned to Trey, "A domesticated girl, that's all you ask of me!" Trey chuckled as Adam continued to flirtatiously dance around him. "Darling, it is no joke, this is Lycanthropy." "The moon's awake now," Trey chimed in, "With eyes wide open." Adam trailed his hands along his chest, "My body's craving, so feed the hungry." They sang in unison, "There's a she-wolf in the closet, open up and set it free." Adam howled, "Awoooo." Trey continued, "There's a she-wolf in your closet." Adam finished, "Let it out so it can breathe." Adam huffed and exaggerated his breaths. Trey lifted an eyebrow and pulled Adam closer to him, "It never gets old with you." "Dead or alive, I am the life of the party!" Adam sassed. The two enjoyed their slumber, but it was not eternal. Something stopped them from going further into the afterlife. Adam was rightfully pissed. Trey seemed indifferent. A wisp formed and floated around them in a spiral. Adam found this sensation highly recognizable. Trey crossed his arms and did not seem to understand the hype. But he knew this was a wolfie thing. He took a step back and allowed Adam's ritual to begin. Adam bowed in obedience as the moon goddess made her appearance. "Hello, my darling," she greeted. "Oh, moon goddess," Adam cooed, "Why have we not moved on?" She let out a sorrowful sigh, "This is a unique occurrence, indeed. For in your physical bodies, you are indeed in eternal slumber. Yet, your spirits still weigh on the borderline of the afterlife." Adam sat up and tilted his head in confusion, "Trey and I do not mind spending purgatory together, but I feel like there is more to us not being able to move forward." "That is true indeed," she bowed in agreement. Trey continued to allow them to speak. The moon goddess's wolf was soft white fur with glimpses of pink auras. Her purity and love spread to all of her pups throughout all the generations. Every rise and fall of the moon itself. Her presence everlasting. "I have tried to contact you for some time, but I don't know if I'm able to keep jumping through dimensional planes as easily," she then looked away, "Something is keeping you here." "I kinda figured," Adam answered. "There is, however, one thing I can clarify..." Adam's ears perked up, "And what would that be?" She slowly lifted her head and her soft smile was replaced with a sad expression, "Your best friend is in trouble." "Sarah?" Adam's voice slightly intensified, "What do you mean by that?" Trey felt the adrenaline of Adam begin to pulse into an aura, and he too began to understand that it was not his place to speak. "Your lover has something to do with it," she hesitantly looked over at Trey. Trey's attention was grasped as he gestured to himself, "Me?" The gentle wolf nodded yes. "What did I do?" he asked. "I do not want to disturb your slumbers, but that artifact you chained to one another caused a forbidden spell. This spell has caused the beginning of Sarah's demise." "I-I'm not following," Adam interjected, "The kinky handcuff thing?" With a dull expression, the moon goddess nodded, "From what I have learned, that artifact was meant to put vampires into eternal slumber voluntarily." "And that's what he did," Adam nodded and shot a glance at Trey. Trey's facial expression was worrisome. Adam lifted an eyebrow and observed this odd expression. The moon goddess allowed a few seconds to go by, "He has broken a spell..." "What spell did you break?" Adam furiously asked Trey. Trey threw his hands in the air, "Don't look at me!" "So what now?" Adam's voice was no longer playful. "Hey," Trey interrupted, "I wasn't the one who used it on us to begin with." "Oh? So now you're gas lighting me?" Adam had his hands on his hips. "Not at all babe," he sighed, "I believe what she was trying to say is that it was solely meant for vampire-vampire to use. Not vampire-werewolf." The moon goddess nodded with approval, "There are no instances for how that came to be in full succession. However, the binding is not what is important. It is what was unbinded in exchange." Adam huffed but held his tongue. He signaled the moon goddess to continue. She purred, "Like I said, when you both had taken your oaths for eternal slumber the balance of nature was out of place. We do not know anything further, only that the original of Trey's kind has been unleashed." Trey's body froze into stone. His mouth and eyes matched in wideness. A vein popped at the side of his temple. He shook his head in terror, "That's impossible!" he scoffed in disbelief. Adam looked at him with concern, "Wh-what do you mean? Like Count Dracula or something?" Trey's voice shook as he tried to pronounce it out loud, "A-Absalom..." "What kind of corny name is that?" Adam busted out laughing. "It's not funny!" Trey gulped and turned to the moon goddess, "You mean to tell me that he has awoken?" "We are not for certain," she apologized, "But, Jen has been wary and praying to me every night that something was wrong." "Jen?" Adam's wolf, Eric whimpered. Oh, how he has missed his best friend. "Sarah is oblivious to the fact, but we fear that something horrible is drawing near," the moon goddess then whispered, "We believe the discovery of her lycanthropy has attracted Absalom's attention." "So what are we going to do exactly? We can't help being dead and all," Adam plotted. "You seem to forget that you are of royal blood yourself," she cooed, "You can see her in the hunting trance." "I can see Sarah again?!" Adam's voice grew with excitement, with a squeaking hint of sadness. Suddenly, the aura around the moon goddess was beginning to fade. This alerted Eric into overdrive, but she shook her head. "I will be watching over you, for now I have to go. I only have enough understanding for that and one more piece of information..." They waited for her last words. The moon goddess turned to Trey, "She is waiting for you." Trey's eyes jolted open, and he tried to run towards her, "Wait?! What do you mean by that? Gina? My sister? She's alive?" The moon goddess could not say anything further, but offered a soft smile of farewell. Her soft fur glistened ever so beautifully under the moonlight. She receded into a wisp and disappeared into the total darkness. Adam and Trey were now left alone. "You have a sister?" Adam asked. "Don't get all ruffled up, nothing she said was for certain, remember," Trey dismissed it. Adam then slid in front of him, "The way you sounded, you were hoping it was!" "My sister is dead," he pondered, "The General wrote me a letter." "And I never knew that Sarah was a lycan! Maybe that general was full of s**t!" Adam then turned around, "But, even if everything she mentioned was a possibility. How are we supposed to help? I mean, Sarah hasn't hunted since she got her happy ending." Trey shook his head, and embraced him from behind, "I wouldn't call that a happy ending." "Yeah, yeah," Adam's voice whimpered, remembering everything they had gone through. He held onto Trey's arms, "So now there's more to it. When will it truly end?" Trey's mouth twitched with concern, "Absalom, Gina, the General..." "Oh? Are you up to something?" Adam asked. "Just as you are able to communicate through your hunting method, I faintly recall that I can read, and control weak minds," Trey clasped his hands together. "Can you control me?" Adam rebelled off subject. Trey's smirk followed with a lifted eyebrow, "Is that a challenge?" "I don't know batty, can you speak b***h?" he sassed. "I've lived for over 600 years, trust me," he grabbed Adam closer, "I know more than you can even fathom to find out." Adam felt a tingle run through his skin and he giggled and pushed Trey away. Trey tilted his head and that was enough to woo poor Adam. "Stop!" Adam blushed. They both looked at each other with endearing eyes and then sighed simultaneously. Adam started off, "So, we just stop Count what's-his-face from killing my best friend, find your sister, and b***h slap a general." "It's not that easy," Trey shrugged, "We don't know if it is indeed him. We have no clue about the whereabouts of my sister. And I'm not sure which general we are looking for. There are too many missing substitutes for this equation, we have to find out more." "Oh goddess I hate math, that was algebra, right?" Adam rolled his eyes. Trey clicked his teeth, "This is going to be difficult, but at least with you..." he winked at Adam, "It will be fun." The two continued to look at each other with content. A few seconds went by and Adam grew rapidly impatient. "So how do we even start?!" Trey was defeated, "I- I am not sure, your moon goddess wolf thing didn't give us instructions." "I know she said that I can communicate through hunting, but that means she has to be asleep." Trey added, "I know I can control a physical vessel, but I have never done it while being dead!" Frustrated, Adam popped a vein in his temple, "So we are just stuck here until someone comes to talk to us again?" They sat down with their backs against each other. They stared into the darkness of the void. Adam pursed his lips, "You know? I really miss her. I knew that Drake would take care of her." Trey chimed in, "But she had to rescue him first!" Adam began to somber, "She has given so much and lost the exact amount, if not, more." Trey nodded, "Yeah, she was something else." Adam began to tear up, "I envied her strength and resilience. She didn't deserve all that pain." Trey nodded, "Her memories were filled with sadness, it made mine feel worth waiting for, even if it was hundreds of years." "Sarah..." Adam leaned back and closed his eyes, "I want to see you again, bestie." "Gina..." Trey mimicked, "Have you been alive this whole time?" The two began to feel drowsy and fell asleep. Their bodies stayed up right and a red glow appeared around their wrists. The cuffs that linked them together appeared and began to engulf them. A magic sphere shielded them in a bubble. The void of purgatory soon had colors beginning to blotch. Adam and Trey remained asleep, wishing to their heart's content of their desires. Their lungs rose and fell with each breath. The magic of vampire and werewolf surged through their bloodstream. What seemed like a few months in purgatory was actually a few years in the real world. Werewolf, vampire, human... The triangle of dominance and perseverance. And beyond that... spiritual, what they all have in common... protected and worshiped. Adam continued to snooze, still holding hands with Trey. I wonder what lost chapters are going to unfold. For all the lost time, for our lost souls... will we ever be able to move on? Will we be able to fulfill our unfinished duties? There has been too much sadness and chaos. Why must we continue this everlasting torture knowing that in the end... in the end... we... we will not be there anymore... "But for Sarah..."
