::Adam's POV::
Everything felt warm. Eric was rejoicing and urged me to wake up.
I slowly opened my eyes. I blinked a few times and let out a loud yawn.
"You awake sleepy head?" I heard Trey's voice.
"Y-yeah," I yawned again. And then almost choked on my own spit!
...
Uhm?
"Don't freak out," Trey cautioned, "It's okay."
My voice! What's wrong with my voice?!
I squeaked, "What the hell?!"
I sounded so feminine! Not like my usual gay voice, but I sounded like an actual girl!
"At least you're pretty," he scratched the back of his head.
"What do you mean?" I hiccuped and ran to the nearest puddle.
My facial features were not mine! I had a sleek face with pouty lips. My eyes blazed in a colorful hue of purple! My nose was small and defined, and my jet black hair cascaded to my lower back.
"I'M A GIRL!"
"Just like Pinocchio said," Trey added.
"Wh- How?" I exclaimed in a high-pitched voice.
"I am not sure," he answered.
I looked over at him. My face was shown with total disgust.
"Why do YOU get to remain as yourself?"
Trey's body was still the same! That beautiful chocolate man had nothing altered about him. Not. A. Single. Thing!
"Don't hate the player, hate the game," he flexed.
"Uhhh..." I glared at the full moon, "Moon Goddess! Uhm what? What is this?"
"You look like yourself, but just in female form," Trey tried to assure me, "Quite pretty."
"I never said I was ugly," I sassed and rolled my eyes.
But that's not what is important right now. I needed some kind of explanation, but the moon goddess was not adhering to my calls. My wolf Eric wasn't making it any easier either. Laughing at me like I'm some kind of well... laughingstock.
I can't believe my wolf is still the same too!
Ugh!
A breeze cut me off from my manic panic and I could smell the scent of the world again. The pollen of flowers, the scent of pine, all the scents of the wind...
I was alive!
"It is midnight, I think?" Trey looked up at the blue moon.
My wolf was swooned by its beauty. He pointed his nose towards it. Oh, how he missed it so.
"Where are we?" I asked, still not used to my voice.
"I can check real quick," he flexed his shoulders and his huge black bat wings sprung from his back. He squatted and looked up. I did the same.
He then charged at me, grabbed me by my abdomen and sprung up into the sky!
I shrieked the girliest fearful outcry ever! I shut my mouth with my palms out of embarrassment.
"You should have seen the look on your face, babe," Trey teased.
"I'm starting to think you like this gender version more than the original," I sulked.
"Not a chance," he lifted my chin towards him. He stared at me endearingly, "I fell in love with your soul, not your appearance."
It was like a magical fairytale. Up high in the sky, the bright moon and the beauty of the twilight stars. The wind whirled the scents and emotions of nature around us.
Damn, I loved this man.
Anywho!
I looked a bit further and saw a familiar shape of a mansion.
"That has to be Drake's territory!" I exclaimed.
"So we know the direction we need to go to," Trey flapped his wings.
But we fell in altitude!
"Trey!" I gripped onto him, "This is not funny!"
"I'm not trying to," he struggled to flap.
We thudded and crash-landed onto the grass fields.
"What was that?!" I felt my heartbeat pulsing through my stiffened hair!
"I don't know, I was flying just fine a second ago," he was dumbfounded, "I guess we have to test our limitations."
"Trey," I pointed out, "Our wrists!"
Our wrists glowed in a dark aura of red and black. There were no handcuffs, but it seemed to be activated somehow.
"I think it has to do with that damn spell," I analyzed.
"It's okay," he got up and dusted himself off. He offered his hand to me, "Things are more interesting when it's hard."
"That's what I would say," I joked.
Okay, maybe I shouldn't say that as a girl.
I grabbed his hand and he sprung me back onto my feet. I dusted myself and sniffed the air. Eric whimpered in excitement, he could sense Jen was near. I tried to transform into my wolf, but fell onto my face. I pounded my hands against the cruel cold earth.
"It's not fair!" I complained.
"It'll be okay," Trey comforted.
"Easy for you to say! You get to at least have some of your powers."
He helped me back up, "Well, you can still smell like a wolf..."
"I want agility, not the ability to smell ass a mile away," I paused in frustration. I should be more mindful about what I say to Trey. This wasn't technically his fault.
I sighed, "We will keep testing our limitations. But, in the meantime, we need to head on over to Drake's mansion."
"We have to tread lightly, we can't just waltz in there unannounced!" Trey cautioned.
"You're right," I contemplated, "But she will know it's me."
"You're not exactly the Adam you once were," he pointed out.
"I'm pretty sure our wolves will be able to communicate," I hoped.
"How confident are you about that?" he lifted his eyebrow.
Not really to be honest. I couldn't even transform into my wolf to begin with.
I felt like I technically was wolfless, and it was killing me!
Shmack!
I slapped my arm. Smack again.
"What the?" I began slapping myself like Spongebob did in his battle with Patrick, "So many mosquitoes!"
"Well, technically, women have a higher body temperature than men. So, mosquitoes detect you more," he educated me.
"Ughh! I hate being a woman!"
"It's not all that bad!" Trey walked over to me.
"What do you mean? I'm getting sucked in a way that's not enjoyable," I paused and looked at him, "Or by you..." I smacked another mosquito, "But this is very annoying!"
He swiftly scooped me up and began carrying me towards our destination. I huffed as I was not used to being dependent on anyone.
"I'm sure she will be glad to see you again," he reassured me.
I looked up at him. I could feel a hidden static surge through bits and parts of my body. Every clenched muscle was swooning me at greater heights!
Wait a minute...
There was something else!
What the hell?
What is that feeling?
My heartbeat was felt in my lower area! I ordered myself to calm down immediately.
"Careful now," Trey smirked, "Your blood temperature is rising to delicious levels."
"That reminds me!" I realized, "You said that my blood was poison to you. But you've drank Sarah's blood before."
"Not like I wanted to," he scoffed, "If I had kept at it, I would've been on that 'My 400lb Life' show."
"No, but..." I hesitated, "Why were you able to without consequences?"
"When I met Sarah, she was in a wolfless state. I'm not sure if that made her a vulnerable human for the time being or something. But, she wasn't technically wolfless at the same time."
He walked and walked and then suddenly yielded, "I think it's because she is a Lycan!"
I gasped, "That makes sense! But, I don't know much about Lycans, just that they were a myth."
"Vampires aren't really in your history books either," he added, "Nor was the unbinded spell."
I could feel his rage seething through his pores. His clenched jaw indicated that he was still on edge about what the moon goddess had said. Was it the fact that the Absalom dude could exist? Or that his sister was somewhere out there? And I began to think to myself... How much do I really know about this man?
"You'll find out soon enough," he winked at me.
What?!
"You can read my mind?!" I was envious.
"I'm guessing my limitations are coming back to me a lot faster than I thought," he smiled with glee.
I folded my arms and rolled my eyes, "Great, now you'll just invade the privacy of my mind anytime."
"Do you have anything to hide from me?" he asked.
"Well... not exactly," I shrimped deeper into his embrace, "It's my wolf that I am worried about."
"Oh, right," he walked on, "Your second personality."
"What do you mean by that?" I glared at him.
He continued his joke, "I'm guessing Sarah had multiple, since she is a Lycan and all!"
I wasn't laughing.
"Were you able to read her mind?" I had to ask.
He contemplated for a minute and then looked at me in realization, "I don't think I was able to!"
He continued, "I mean, I learned about her memories off feeding, and I did make her slap herself..."
"You made her slap herself?" I exclaimed.
"Well, yeah..." he smirked, "I told you I was able to control weak bodies."
"Because she was technically wolfless," I puzzled it together.
"Who knows? All we know is that the balance of nature is in a frenzy right now, we have just got to find a way to tilt it in our favor."
Smack! Mosquito down!
"Ughhh! Before I get bone dry from these damn pests!" I slapped myself repeatedly.
"I'm not mind controlling you to do anything just to let you know," he was still joking.
His tone then sounded serious, "No matter what lies ahead, we have to work together. If Sarah is in danger, we have to get to her soon. I don't know what Absalom is capable of or how long he's been out."
We could see the gates up ahead to the nearby Crimson Red pack territory.
But, there were no guards?
Trey carefully put me down. I surveyed around and realized that there was not one guard on duty!
"Must've been a peaceful time after your king fell," Trey grasped the iron bars.
After the battle for the crown, I was expecting a better future for my kind, but I didn't think it would be this safe! I slowly walked behind Trey and remained looking at the ground.
Were we better off dead?
"No," Trey interrupted.
"Hey!" I pouted, "Stop mind reading. I want to have some thoughts to myself."
"I know," he turned to me, "But, I just didn't want you to blame yourself. None of what happened then was your fault. And nothing of what happens now will either."
"How can you be so sure?" I spoke with uncertainty.
"Well, put it this way..." he guided me through the gate, "We wouldn't know what peace is without war. And seeing how blissful it is now, that means that the fight you fought has led through succession."
"You always know the right things to say," I pursed my lips.
"That's the knowledge of being over 100 centuries old," he chuckled.
Trey then lifted my chin and repositioned my gaze to his, "But, despite all that time, I couldn't comprehend why I felt so much for you."
There it is again! The pulse! I can feel the blood rushing to my face, but I felt it on other locations too.
"I don't think I'm in favor of being a girl," I looked away sheepishly, "I feel so fragile."
"There's nothing wrong about being a girl," he grabbed my wrist, "I know you'll what's the word? Slay?"
I giggled at that remark. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise? I'll get to learn what it is like to be a girl. The ins and outs. Hopefully not the ins...
"Question..." I tugged at him. Trey looked over his shoulder at me.
I pressed on, "If we did it, does that make us straight?"
Trey rolled his eyes, "Here we go."
