It was the following morning alarm went off at 7am. She showered and dressed, ready to see her girls. She drove to the cafe. Suzie was first they always early. Suzie, she met at university. She was studying law. She's how she met Luke. They were in the same class. She is a lovely, shy person. She decided to learn to be a lawyer, so it would build her confidence and be more forward. Which it has in the courtroom but not in her personal life she's still very shy and reserved.
Kemmi was next she walked in a full world wind. Honestly, that girl can move about a hundred miles an hour as her mouth.Who ever ended up with her. She hoped they could keep up with her. She's only 4ft 10 aswel. She's from China came over here to learn to be a nurse. He family wanted her to be a technology specialist like them, but she didn't want to sit behind a desk all day.
Jessica, she grew up with her. Her brother is now the CFO of the business in the hometown where she grew up. Second in command, so to speak. She's very smart. She also went to Cumbria study literature and illustration. She actually has 3 children books out she wrote and illustrated the books. She is super smart. Caring, loyal. You piss her off she's bites. She laughed to herself.
Hello ladies, thank you for meeting her so early but she can't be late for the airport. She needs to go check she's packed everything.
"That's alright, we dont mind. I'm in court at 9 am. anyway, " Suzie said
"I'm off for the next 2 days, I can have a lay in tomorrow all good. You weren't leaving without seeing us. " Kemmi said.
"I would have just hunted her down if she did. I wish you'd let me come with you. I can work from anywhere. " Jess stated, annoyed.
Jess, thank you, but she wants to do this alone. You have taken care of her her whole life. She needs to do something on her own without her grandma or Luke and you always supporting her. She is tougher than she looks, flexing her biceps. Everyone laughed.
"I know you've had a tough few years. I worry about you." Jess said.
She knows, and she appreciates the love she really does. You are all going to come visit her for her birthday in July. She knows the plan she will let you know closer to the time when she is staying.
"You better as I will find you, and you must video call every Friday," Jess said.
Yes, she knows. We finished our breakfast. So girls, she has to go.She is sorry. All the girls hugged her and wished her luck. To enjoy herself. Suzie told her to send her every photo of her journey, as she wanted to see it. Kemmi, being kemmi, told her to have s*x with every hot man she sees. She couldn't help laugh. She wouldn't even know where to start.
"Just flirt up a storm. Touch, tease them, your hot girl. Have boobs and an a** to die for. Spread your legs, go for it, " Kemmi said.
Spread her legs? Kemmi, no, not a chance. She's happy being single. For you, she'll try and flirt, but that's as far as she's going. She laughed and hugged her. Honestly, she'd love to spend a day in your head. Kemmi laughed.
"You'll find a horny woman trying to get out." Kemmi said
We all laughed again. She'll miss her a lot. Jess, look after these two. Will you.
"Always and look after yourself. Remember any trouble call her she'll be on the next flight out, " Jess said.
She knows thank you. She cried a little on the drive back. It's silly, but those girls are like her sisters. They've been they for her through everything. It will be weird not seeing them every other day.
She walked into her cottage to find grandma sitting at the breakfast bar eating her food.
"Oh dear, don't be upset it's not forever, plus they are visiting you in july. Only two months away. " Grandma said.
She knows just weird right she going to go get changed and check her backpack for the trip. She went to her room. Changed into her sweats. It would be a long flight. She wanted to be comfortable. She packed two pairs of jeans and two simple dresses. In case she does end up somewhere nice. It's the only luxury clothing she was taking.
Rest was shorts, T-shirts, vests and leggings, mac and hoddie. All thin items that can be rolled up small to make room for other things and dry quickly when washed. She packed her hiking boots. Small makeup bag, which was like 3 things. She laughed. A folded up pair of sandals.
Her camera bag. It has 10 memory discs inside. She can buy more if she fills them up. Her laptop, phone, charger. All fit in her camera bag. Tickets, passport. So she's all set. She picked it up. The backpack wasn't too heavy. It would spend most of the time in the jeep. She hired for the trip.
A few professors at university gave her a few packing at travelling tips. From their days of travelling around the world. How to hide her bag. Keep all valuable in a bag with her at all times. If someone steals your clothes or shoes or toiletries can easily be replaced. Is a lot harder to get more money, replace your passport and phone. Shes going stay in the campsite or the cheapest hotel. If it doesn't look like it's been driving on often, it's probably not safe. She walked outside to her grandma, waiting for her by the car.
"Ready dear?" she asked.
Yes, she put her large backpack in the boot. She just stared at the cottage for a moment before getting in. Stated see you soon house. She got in the car, and her grandma was just staring at her.
"You'll see it again soon, dear. Will still be here when you get back, " she said.
She knows it's just been her home again for the last 18 months. She always felt safe here. Will miss it, Grandma, let's get to the airport. They drove to Manchester Airports in took just over an hour and 15mins. It was just 20 minutes' wait, and her check-in desk was opening.
She was flying to New York and staying for a few days. Check out the sights. Then, on to exploring the country. Her grandma handed her an envelope.
"I upgraded your hotel. No argument. An early birthday gift." she said.
She opened the envelope, and it was a 4-night stay in Hilton New York Times Square Hotel. Oh grandma, she can't accept this. It must have cost a fortune.
"You are and will stay here. You deserve a trip of a lifetime, and this is my gift to my favourite person in the world. You are strong. You've overcome your parents' death. Worked you're a** off at work and deserved everything you have. You got rid of that dumba** he wasn't worth your beauty and love. Claire, this past year, I've seen your light return. So go shine bright kick some a**" she said.
She laughed and was crying. Grandma, you've always been her biggest supporter. She'll miss you. She'll call you every few days but will text every day.
"You better. I love you," She said.
Love you more. She checked in her large backpack. It won't fit on the plane. Walked through security. Her plane wasn't setting off for a while. So she sat and got some snacks and planned her trip. She knew cities she wanted to visit.
Starting with New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, North Carolina, down into the South oh definitely Nashville, Altanta, Mississipi, Louisiana and down to Texas, New Mexico, Las Vegas, Los Angeles. It's a lot, but she's making the most of it. It's going to be a lot of driving, but she will never get the chance to do this again, and it's going to be amazing.
Her flight started boarding. She was taken to first class. Her bloody grandma. She knew the woman was well off but hated people spending money on her. The man handed her a pilllow and a blanket and a glass of procecco.
"Welcome to first class, let me know if you need anything. I'm Toby," he said.
Thank you, Toby. She's fine for now. She got comfortable and fastened her seat belt. She was next to a woman. She was absolutely stunning women. She didn't find women attractive, but she couldn't help saying it. Sorry if this is inappropriate, but you are absolutely beautiful.
"Oh, why thank you, dear. You are very beautiful yourself. Where are you off, too? Holiday? " Woman asked.
She's going to be travelling through North America for a year or so. She is starting off in New york for 4 days, then moving on. Her name is Claire she's from the Lake District in the UK. It's nice to meet you.
"Sounds wonderful, dear. She loves to travel. My son owns a banking/financial business and art galleries. We are opening a new gallery in Manchester and New York. He couldn't make the meeting, so he sent me to oversee the work. My husband is meeting me in New york, but he wasn't available for the Manchester meeting. It's nice to meet you, Claire. I'm Zola." Zola said.
Wait, Zola, as in Zola Hall, the sculpture artist?.
"Yes, dear, you know art?" Zola said.
Yes, very much. It's her whole world. She is an art and design professor at Cumbria University. She likes to paint, clay mould, and photography. She's taking a break it has been a hard few years. Unable to get pregnant and divorced because of it. She was shocked by how honest she was being with a total stranger. She is so embarrassed she is so sorry for too much information.
Zola touched her hand. She instantly felt warmth and relaxed. She was just staring at the women. Felt her cheeks burning, felt bright red.
"It's okay, dear. I have that effect on people. People kind of tell me their problems. I don't mind, please discuss with me," Zola said.
Thank you. She talked to her about the failed IVF and how it made her feel. How it was the ending of her marriage. Her ex-husband was desperate for children pressure from his family. She actually cried. She was holding in more than she realised.
"That is awful. I'm very sorry for your loss.My son lost his wife a few years ago, with a lot of pain and loss. It's the worst thing. I'm a very big believer that everything happens for a reason. I believe you will find your soul mate and have that family you deserve," Zola said.
Thank you. You're wonderful. Your son is lucky to have you. We sat and talked about art. It was wonderful. 7 hours made it go very fast. We hugged at the terminal we exchanged numbers.
"If you ever want to talk art or anything, call me. " Zola said.
She will definitely.
