She arrived in beautiful New York. She got a cab to her hotel. She would pick up her rental car in a few days before setting off on her travels. The room was massive. It's looked perfectly over times square. It's would be midnight at home uk time. Grandma did say call her.
She pulled out her phone and called her grandma. She answered on the second ring. Hi Grandma, she is here at the hotel. It's beautiful, by the way.
"Oh, so glad dear, how was the flight?" she asked
Good, she talked art with a woman all the way. It was wonderful. Passed the time.
"I'm glad we'll il speak to you in a couple of days. Bed time for me. Goodnight, my darling. I love you," she said.
Good night, grandma. Love you too. It's only 7 pm she'd get some dinner. She hung up. It was only four days, but she took all the stuff out of her backpack. If she used up any toiletries, she would know what to replace. She showered, changed into jeans and a T-shirt, and put her trainers back on, not the place for sandals. Busy city.
She looked at the welcome pack. It had all the sights listed. All the best restaurants and bars. The hotel had a cleaning service only a small charge. Great, the clothes she wore over the next few days she could get cleaned before she went. She messaged the girls in a group chat all were in.
"Hello ladies, im here. The hotel is beautiful, looking down at times square, absolutely amazing. love you all see you soon, " she wrote.
She took a photo of the room and the view to prove it. Guarantee that would be Jess's next request. She was so overprotective that anyone would think she was going to be attacked by wolves how she goes off. She went to look for somewhere to have dinner and wanted to go to bed at a realisable hour. She heard her phone ring didn't recognise the number. Hello, this is Claire.
"Claire, it's Zola. How are you?" Zola asked.
Oh, hello Zola, she is good. Shes just trying to decide what to eat and where to go. This city is massive.
"Well, I can help with that. Please meet me and my husband for dinner, " she asked
Oh, that sounds nice, but she doesn't want to impose.
"Nonsense. I was telling my husband about you and he wants to meet you too. " Zola said.
Oh, okay, where?
"Eleven Madison Park restaurant, it's lovely. I'll send a driver to your hotel to pick you up. " She said
Okay, thank you. See you soon. She went back to her hotel. Quickly went upstairs to her room. Put one of her dresses on. Thank goodness she brought them. Put some makeup on, neatened her hair. The bathroom had built in hair straightners. She put those sandals on. She looked presentable. Went back downstairs a man was waiting by a car for her.
"Miss Claire?" a man asked.
Yes, she is.
"Lovely, I'm Mack. I'm here to take you too, the restaurant," Mack said.
He opened the door, and she got in a large suv. Large men must get in the back. Mack must have noticed her looking round.
'My boss and his sons are very tall." Mack said.
Oh, she giggled. He drove her to the restaurant and opened the door for her. Thank you Mack very kind of you.He smiled.
"Thank you, miss. I love your accent, by the way." Mack said.
She smiled. British, we sound loud and high-pitched sometimes. She laughed. He smiled.
"Enjoy your evening," Mack said.
Thank you. You too. She walked in. She saw Zola stand up. Shout her name. She hurried over. Hugged her.
"Hello my dear, you look beautiful. This is my husband, Christopher. " Zola said.
He got up and shaked her hand. Nice to meet you, Christopher. We sat, and he spoke.
"My wife tells me you are a professor of art?" he asked.
Yes, she studied at university and has a job they. She's on leave. She loves it. She'll be making her way to galleries in each city she goes to. Check out the different artists.
"That's wonderful. I can send you a list if you like?. " she said
Yes, that would be helpful. So where are you both from?
"We live just outside of Dallas. Near Great Trinity forest." she said.
Oh, that's one of her stop off she wants to go to they. That forest is meant to be beautiful, full of life.
"Well, you have my number. Let me know when you're coming. You can stay with us, and I'll show you around." Zola said.
She will thank you. We ate chatted more about art and where she came from her family. Her parents came up in conversation. Zola hugged her like, really hugged her.
"Well, I'm a mother, and I can guarantee your mother is proud of you. You've achieved so much and overcome so much. They would be very proud, " she said
Thank you. How many children do you have?
"5 children," she said
She looked at her, shocked. 5 children, you must be very busy.
"Oh, all grown up now, my eldest three sons 33, 32 and 30, and my youngest is 18. A daughter 25 " she said.
That paused her. You have children in their 30s , well men in their 30s, you don't look old enough.
"Why, thank you dear, that's nice. See, I still look young, " she said, elbowing her husband.
He laughed at her. "You still look the same when I first met you, my love, just more stubborn," Christopher said.
She wacked him on his arm.He kissed her cheek. You, two, are very cute. Both smiled. Well, it was lovely to see you both. Thank you for dinner. She will come see you when she arrives in Dallas.
"Please do, it would be lovely. I would love to introduce you to one of my sons. " Zola said.
"ZOLA, stop it. The boys won't appreciate you trying to set them up. " Christopher said.
"What? it's what mothers do. She is beautiful, smart, a grown woman." Zola said.
She couldn't help but laughed. Thank you, but she is not ready to date. She's very happy on her own for now anyway.
"I understand, dear. You've not been lucky in love, but that can all change with this trip of yours. Well, I will leave you to it. We return home in the morning. Hopefully, we'll see you again soon, " Zola said.
Yes, she does, too. She hugged her and decided to walk back and took a while, but it was lovely to see the city. She would fully explore tomorrow. She started to feel tired. Made it way to her room. Changed and went to sleep.
Woke up it was 11:30am she slept 12 hours. Oh, she'll have to do her morning plan tomorrow instead. Her phone was ringing it was the girls. She answered hello you three
"How are you?" All said
She is good. Just woke up. She went for a meal with Zola, whom she met on the plane with her husband. Yes, she did say Zola frigging Hall.
"You met Zola Hall she's a fantastic, well renowned artist." Suzie said.
That she is. It was amazing to talk to her. She even invited her to her home in Dallas when she made it they .
"That's lovely go. Does she have any son?" Kemmi asked.
She knew you were going to ask that. She has 4 sons and 1 daughter
"Blimey, I bet they are hot. She's a hot woman, " Kemmi said.
She laughed. Never change Kemmi. She smiled. Right girls, she loves you all. You can see she's alive and well. She'll talk to you all Friday. She'll be in Philadelphia then, okay? Bye, girls.
She showered and got dressed. Walked downstairs to the hotel restaurant had an early lunch. Right, let's explore. Over the next three days. She went to the centre park every day.
Then the art museums all of the museums that new york at to offer. The Statue of Liberty is just gorgeous.Grand Central. It was an experience.Rockefeller Centre, she needs to come back here in December. She visited everything that New york had to offer, all the sights. She loved it. Her ex-husband hated museums or anything art, and he would always complain and just make it not fun.
The food was amazing. She was so happy the hotel had a gym. She had a workout every morning and a swim. To work off the food but was completely worth it. She did a little shopping and replaced her toiletries. Clothing that she could roll up and another dress it was so pretty she couldn't resist. She was getting a car tomorrow so she had room. She managed to get all her clothes washed.
Tomorrow morning she will go collect her car and drive to her next destination. She would spend 2 days in Philadelphia before moving onto baltimore and Washington. Let the fun begin.
