Sophie perched on the side of the bed, her knuckles whitened from holding her phone so hard. The enigmatic note still plagued every idea she had. You believed it was finished?
She took a deep breath. It wasn't. There was still someone waiting, watching them.
Adrian rolled up his sleeves and entered the room. His eyes found her right away. "You haven't said anything."
Sophie's throat was dry as she looked up. "What would happen if Victoria was only a pawn?"
Adrian's mouth folded. Arms crossed, he leaned against the dresser. "After that, we have to deal with something much larger."
