Detective Kit clicked down the polished black marble gleaming under the large white overhead LED lights. Her black heels kept clicking down the hall – heads bobbed to her, coffees froze mid-journey towards their lips, no hushed notes hung in the rapidly cooling room – but only those intimidating pitch black heels kept clicking down the crowded police lobby in the morning until they positioned themselves precisely behind the large black mahogany door.
‘Chief Lieutenant Gordon’ it read. Bold. Cold. Silver-bolted lettering hung upon the door.
The lurking individual placed one quick but confident manicured knock on the door and blinked once, her blank midnight orbs briefly hidden behind thick jet-black lashes.
‘Come in’ a gruff voice noted.
Her heels paused before clicking in, her lips returning to her grimace.
‘Mr Gordon’ Detective Kit loomed in like a ghost before locking the door shut, locking those prying minds out of orbit.
The detective donned an inky black pantsuit with a black blazer that hung like a glove to her body, a thin glittering diamond necklace graced her delicate neck, her plump lips drawn down into a light grimace. Her inky-black, curly, parted bangs lay on her mocha skin, gently brushing her delicate jaw and neck, her black hair pulled back in a low ponytail that brushed down her waist.
Perhaps you could say she was a criminal with how jaw-droppingly glamorous her dangerous looks made her, but don’t be duped – her blank cold look brought a deep chill to the bone that ordered you to keep respectfully quiet and only respond when given the honor. The lady was more like a prowling panther rather than a detective.
______
‘The problem this time?’ The lady quipped coldly.
Plus, the lady did not do introductions nor did she bother with light conversation. She did not care to ask how so-and-so’s was doing nor did she bother to hide it. She shrugged. Her icily dismissive demeanor had not brought her any problems regardless. Genuinely ridiculous to believe that she could care under other conditions.
’I’m glad you asked, 'Chief Lieutenant Gordon muttered just about peeved by his protégés’ repeated dismissals. ‘I’m having a good morning by the way.’
Detective Kit remained blank, pinning a long icy look on him, before drawing the chair back, plopping into it, looking, then perching her leg over the other powerfully.
They discussed the matter at hand. It was about the peculiar murder/multimillion-dollar theft embezzlement that had the local metropolitan police department beyond confuddled and questioning their capabilities.
‘You’ll be working with Lieutenant Officer Bora on this case,’ Gordon nodded.
Detective Kit nodded and reviewed the documents briefly before clicking away with them in her black bag.
Gordon shook his head grinning at his protégé’s usual cold nature before resuming his prior commitments. It was laughable considering he himself held a rather grim expression most times but it would reveal his caring presence, a gruff and hairy beast of a old man with white whiskers and beard like Father Christmas and kind knowing eyes.
