An Alpha

My name is Delia. It means something just never got around to figuring out what. I'm a werewolf. A natural fire engine red headed werewolf to be exact. which is weird to say the least. I mean not only do I have bright red hair in human form but my fur is bright red too. I have blue eyes though. They remind me of sapphires. Both my parents have brown eyes and my brother has yellow. I'm built. Muscle everywhere, abs and strength for days but it all fits into my 5'8 frame. No I'm not terribly tall but I still tower over many females. Everyone thought I'd be chosen as a luna but the day of my 16th birthday and first shift I was given the mark of an alpha. Since that day I have done nothing but prepare for my roll. My father did my training till I turned 18. I then had to go North to be trained and taught how everything in our werewolf world works at the university for another 2 years. that's where I learned I had powers. Powers like no other. I found out when I was so angry at this boy who kept telling me my wolf looked funny. She stood large and built like a male wolf. Trust me there was nothing funny about her. I got so angry as I was hurtling insults at him, in my defensive rage I hadn't noticed I now had fire in my hands and up to my elbows. That was the first element I had to learn to control. I'm a bit of a hot head. They ushered the boy out of the room that day and I prayed to goddess I'd never have to see him again. She must have heard my prayer because I haven't seen him since. Maybe they killed him as I was sworn to secrecy by the king himself to never show my powers to anyone unless it was life or death. Serves that asshole right if he did get offed. I returned home when I was 20 hopeful to meet my mate on my 21st birthday as every werewolf does. I'd always hoped they'd be in my pack. A love story for the ages. We'd have grown up together, gone to school together, trained together, been destined to continue a story together. As the day started though I could sense they weren't here. that following full moon I took over the position of alpha and haven't given finding my mate a second thought.
