Prologue
“What on earth is he doing here?” Eren whispers to himself in confusion and distress, sneaking a peak at a certain nobleman who seemed to be looking for something. Or someone. “Why is he even here? Doesn’t he have servants to do the shopping for him?”
“What are you muttering there about? And who are you looking at?” Usami took a look and immediately pulled back in. No. He’s just seeing things. He did not see his supposed mate who rejected him years ago here. He cleared his throat. “I'm not certain who you’re referring to but I am certain people come and go here. This is a damn bookstore after all.”
“Eren, Usami, I’m done. I have what I wanted. Shall we go check out?” Rin walks up to the two with books in hand, and then he notices Eren looking a bit nervous. “Eren, are you alright?”
“Huh? What? Yes, of course, I am well, brother.” Eren answered right away. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
“...You look a little pale—”
“No, I am fine. No need to worry about me.” Eren insists, “Say, we still have some time. How about we look for more book in the next aisle—”
“Eren? Is that you?”
The person in question flinches when he hears his name. Eren took a deep breath before turning to face the person he dreaded having the coincidence of encountering. He wondered why, of all days, did the three of them have to go out of the house? The day started so well too.
Accidentally, Eren’s eyes met the Archduke’s, but he immediately turned to the side, which made the Archduke frown. “Eren, I….” He called out to his mate, reaching out to touch him.
Usami stood in front of the nervewrecked Eren, emitting a chilling aura of protectiveness. He kept his glare on the Archduke.
Rin didn’t know what to do. How did things escalate to this situation?
