Chapter 9: Betrayal.

Few weeks passed since the attack of the Cult. Things started to get normal. The only thing changed is the Security of the whole City is increased. Nova government take The Protector Advice and increase the Security to the whole Nova. The Underground now have a guard.

They don't want bomb exploded in there and distracted them.

And Now, Dream is fighting with Julius again.

"Dream, I'm Going!"

"Try it!"

Julius, Instead of staying on the defense, He charged to attack instead. And Dream, Is the opposite. He is on defense.

Like a raging bull, Julius Charged with his full strength. He pull his fist back and swing his fist toward Dream.

Dream evaded the punch. He then push Julius hand Gently to change the direction of the attack.

"That's my technique!"

Julius said in surprised. Dream said.

"Exactly. Your technique looks really useful. So I decided to change it a little bit."

"How do you change it?"

Julius said while pulling his fist back. He swing it toward Dream once again.

"Like this!"

Dream let Julius hit his palm. The power of Julius punch flow through Julius fist to his palm. Then flow toward Dream whole body. Finally, Dream added his own power in addition of Julius power. Dream swing his fist toward Julius chest.

'Ah, I'm going to lose'

Julius Thought. But, Dream stopped his punch before it hit Julius Body. The impact from his punch can be felt.

"Want me to teach you?"

Dream said. Julius looked at him and said.

"Please teach me!"

Dream smiled.

"Then Let me tell you how. Block this."

Dream quickly punch Julius. Julius panic and block it with his fore arm.

Julius eyes widened. The punch that he felt from Dream felt tingly.

"Felt that? If you keep that feeling flow through your bodies, You can add your power to it and make it even stronger. Now, Try it."

Dream punch Julius again. Julius block Dream punch with his palm. The Tingly feeling comes flowing through his arm. Then flowing through his chest, legs, flowing back to his arm. But then, He let that power go.

"Wha?"

Julius let out a stupid sound.

"You get the feeling now. Let's try it again!"

Dream punch Julius once again. But now that he grasp how it feels, He might be able to do it to certain extent.

He block Dream punch with his palm. Added more power toward that power. Then Punch Dream with that amount of power. Dream block it with his arm. After blocking that attack, Dream arm bone is cracked.

"Great job Julius..."

Dream arms go limp.

"Thank you Dream. Also Sorry."

"Don't worry about my arm. I have a potion"

Dream drank the potion and the injured arm healed.

Dream went out the gym and go to the forest around the Academy. On a certain tree, He kick it as hard as he could. The Tree shakes violently, But not falling.

Dream spotted a robed man. The face is a familiar janitor that used to clean the Academy. It's Newton.

"Long time no see Young man. Glad to see you well"

Said Newton nicely. Dream stared at him menacingly. Dream finally found the culprit that let out all of the information of this Academy.

"Newton, You bastard... I can't believe you have the courage to go back to this academy..."

"Don't underestimate me young man. I can do whatever I-"

In the middle of his sentence, He was cut off. His neck falls down. Bloods spewed out from the cut. It was a clean cut by Lily.

"Great job. I can't believe you cut him like that immediately."

Dream said. Lily falls down from the tree and faced Dream.

"Can't be helped right? He's the man who let Sam and his underling here. He's also the one who almost let Miss Elaine died."

Lily said while looking at Newton headless body with cold eyes.

"Well, I understand. Let's go report this to Miss Elaine."

"Let's go!"

In these past couple of weeks, Their hate grew even bigger toward the Cult and the 10 Bringer. They promised that they will eradicate everything related to that.

They went to Elaine office while they were supposed to train on the Gym. Elaine too, She should be teaching right now. But Instead, She is sitting in her office and let the students train on their own. Because they were training with each other, They can do whatever they want. Some student take it seriously while the other just not training at all.

"Miss Elaine, We're here!"

"Dream, Lily. Come in!"

Dream and Lily goes in the office. He saw Eis is there too.

"So, We have eliminated Newton. What do you want to talk about now miss?"

Said Dream. Apparently, Elaine doesn't want to talk about Newton. She want to talk about another interesting topic.

"I want the three of you to join the tournament."

Dream and Lily seems to be interested.

"Give us the Detail!"

"Haha! So, In the tournament, There's a lot of fighting involved. There's a battle royal, 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3. So I want the 3 of you to join the competition!."

"So which competition you want us to join?"

"Alright Hear me out! The Battle royal, I want someone else to join. Because that's not the fun part. So 1 vs 1 will be Eis. 2 vs 2 will be Dream and Lily. And 3 vs 3 will be all of you. How's that sound?"

"Sure... I'm not sure what you mean by Battle royal is not fun though..."

Dream said. He remembered that Battle Royal is quite fun.

"Well, There's not too much strong person in there. I'm pretty sure if any of you join that, You're going to win. But, on the other one though, Only the strongest fight there. And the 3 of you is the strongest students this Academy have. How is that?"

"Yeah. I will take it. Fighting with both of my junior seems fun!"

Eis said. Dream and Lily looked at each other with a troubled look.

"Okay miss. We're going to join!"

"Then, After school, We're going to train immediately."

"YES!"

They both went back to the gym to resume their training. People ask them where they go. They said the teacher called for their help.

"You guys ready?"

Elaine said. She's decided that she's going to fight the three of them.

"Yes miss!"

Dream, Lily and Eis prepared their weapon. Elaine too, Equipped her gloves.

She started the training off by charging at them.

"Phantom Step"

She left behind a bunch of after image. It's hard to determine where's the real Elaine. Then all of the After image take a stance.

"Phantom Strike"

They simultaneously swing their hand. Dream, Lily and Eis can't evade that strike. So they get hit by a barrage of invisible punches.

"Domain of Ice!"

Eis stab the ground with her Ice Sword. Giant Ice started to emerged from the Ground. Freezing the entire field.

"Ice Needle!"

From the frozen ground, Needles started to emerged and Stab all of the after image. The Real Elaine is in the air. She realize what Eis will do and take the move. She swing her hand at Eis.

Lily quickly block her punch with her Katana. Dream is behind her swinging his Halberd.

"Not bad! But you still need to work more!"

"Phantom Strike!"

Two punches coming for Dream, Hitting him on the side and making him lose his balance mid air.

"s**t!"

Dream said as he falls down.

Elaine let out a barrage of punches to Lily.

"Lily Original: Blade Dance!"

She block every single blow with her dancing sword. Elaine gradually getting faster. Lily keep blocking it until it became too fast to block.

"Don't forget about me!"

Eis stuck her sword on the Ice.

"Ice Needle!"

Once again, Needles made from Ice emerged from the ground. Elaine evaded it by using her Phantom Step.

But, Dream is already behind her.

"Dream Style: Cloud Nine!"

Dream destroy the ground she's on and kick it to the air. He knows that He can't make her fall by using his normal leg sweeping so, He take advantage of the Ice Ground and use his Cloud Nine that way.

Lily and Eis jumped toward Elaine.

"Lily Original: Half Moon s***h"

"Frozen Thrust!"

Lily s***h Elaine while Eis thrust her. But, It's an after image.

Elaine is on the ground with Dream near her leg. She took advantage of Lily and Eis Jumping and Knocked Dream out first.

"Phantom Strike!"

Lily and Eis knocked out after getting hit multiple times by her Phantom Strikes.

She's confidence that all of them is passed out. But suddenly, She stumbled. Something swoop her legs.

"What?!"

She doesn't know what happened. Something pushed her back. Making her going even farther toward the sky. She realized...

"Dream?!"

She shouted. She finally looked down toward Dream direction. She couldn't hold her surprised seeing Dream is standing. She actually hit Dream with the intend of hurting him. To see him still okay is quite a surprise.

"Yoga. Chains of Acedia"

'Aye Master!'

Dream told Yoga to change into the newest form. Slowly, A black mist appeared. It slowly moving toward Dream Forearms. It envelopes the whole arms. Then It dispersed. Revealing a Pitch Black Chain on both arm.

"Tie her!"

The Chain move according to Dream will. The chain started to move toward Elaine and Tie her body. Then Dream drag her body down.

"Miss, I believed this is our win..."

"Yeah... Can I ask how do you still standing up after I hit you with that?"

Elaine ask. She's really curious about the trick about Dream. Dream smiled and answer.

"I use you Phantom Step to make my own after image..."

"Wha?!"

Elaine shocked hearing that answer. Her Phantom Step is a hard technique to master. But Dream master it in less than 1 hour.

"How do you do that?"

"Not much... I just kinda know how to do it after seeing you do it Miss. And I like to copy other people technique. So Yeah..."

"You doesn't make sense..."

Elaine Grumble. She's seems disappointed because she lost to her own Student. If she noticed that Dream true power is to copy other people technique. She might be able to win. But, It's too late to get mad now.

Finally, The tournament start.

"Well, Certainly I missed this kind of atmosphere"

Said Eis. Dream and Lily look at her weirdly.

"Wait President... Are you like being looked at?"

"Are you an exhibitionism?"

Eis cheeks started to reddened.

"What do you guys mean?! I'm not like that! I just like the atmosphere of fighting arena!"

"Oh, I know what you mean then."

"Yup yup. Totally relatable."

Eis looked at Dream and Lily weirdly.

"How about you two?! Please tell me you also feel like that too."

"Yup yup..."

Eis thought that Dream and Lily is misunderstood her.

"Um... Both of you.. I'm not like that okay?"

"Yeah we know. It just funny seeing the usual calm and collected President get flustered like this you know? So we thought that teasing you a bit seems okay."

Lily said. Dream agree with her and nodded.

"Oh alright then. I don't mind something like that."

Then Dream and Lily looked at her weirdly again.

"What now?!"

Eis said while looking kinda worried.

"President, You like being teased?"

"As I thought. You're..."

Dream and Lily said to make her mood worse. It's almost time for the tournament to open.

"Ufufu..."

Eis laugh maniacally. Dream and Lily panic 'oh crap, we've taken it too far'.

An Ice sword appear at her hand. Seeing that, Dream and Lily.

"RUN!"

Both of them scatter.

"You can't run from me..."

Eis said with a terrifying voice. She chase Dream and Lily down until the announcement was made.

"Welcome To the Tournament! I'm Sera will be your announcer for today. Thank you for everyone who is coming and watching the tournament."

Finally, They stopped running around.

"For all the participant, Please look at the schedule of your fight. For Those who join the battle royal, It's going to be held in fifteen minutes. Please come to the waiting room. For the viewer, Please go to the arena now. Thank you!"

"Should we go in now?"

"... Yeah"

Dream and Lily sighed in relieved seeing Eis. They went to Inside the stadium.

"Hmm... For the battle royal, Miss Elaine sent Julius and Jasmine from the first year. And Sylvie and July from the second year. I think we have won the Battle Royal if this is our lineup."

"Yeah. Especially Julius. Since he was training with you, He's become more stronger. And that technique you told him will be the key to winning this competition."

"Doesn't Jasmine also training with you sometimes? And Sylvie and July is there too. I think we are good."

Dream and Lily talking to each other about the line up of their school. Both of them familiar with all four of them.

"What do you think President?"

Dream ask Eis.

"Yeah. I think so too. There's 25 team that participate on the battle royal. Our Academy sent only 1 team. That shows how strong our team are."

Eis smiled. Hearing that made them become confidence.

"Let's go watch them."

Eis suggested. Dream and Lily Follow Elaine to their academy room. In there, they watch the battle royal while waiting for their own match.

"Oh, It's started!"

They watch the battle royal from the screen that showed up on their room. It was shown that Julius, Jasmine, Sylvie and July in their screen. Because they were on the Million Years Academy they only can watch the team from their Academy. It's to prevent any outside person to communicate about the other team whereabouts.

"Oh, Julius moved first."

"They moved different direction? Do they planned to end this quickly?"

"Probably..."

Each of them run toward different direction. Julius to the east, Jasmine to the north, Sylvie to the west and July to the south.

The arena is pretty big. Even bigger than the one in Artine. It looked like a natural forest.

"Hoo? Julius might stumble upon enemies first."

Dream said. He looked at the Screen where Julius is shown. He's alone fighting against four people. They take their time picking up their weapon. While Julius is already stand in the middle of them.

He punched one of the man on his chest. Then his teammates swing their weapon at him. Julius block all three of the weapon attack with his gauntlet.

He take a stance that make him go lower. Focusing all of his power into his legs. He pour everything there and charged through.

"Julius Style: Raging Tiger!"

He bust through the three of the remaining people by tackling them with his shoulder.

"Well, That's one team down. Let's see Jasmine."

They change their screen from Julius to Jasmine. What they see is a m******e.

On the ground is twelve people. And with Jasmine there's a floating fire circling around her.

With three more teams down, They changed to Sylvie.

Sylvie is fighting one team. They really does stick together. Dream, Lily and Eis was wondering is they still sane to split up to take down all of the team all alone.

With her bow and arrow, She shot down all four member no problem.

"Is it just me or, Does Everyone in our team is really strong? Or the other team is really weak?"

Dream asked. Lily face said the same. Eis answer them.

"Both. Our team is the strongest because Miss Elaine is the teacher. Because the Protector is our principal, It's a given that our academy is the strongest. And the other team is just filled with a trouble maker."

'Makes sense' Dream and Lily said.

They're now watching July fighting another team.

With her dagger, She quickly moved to the other side. When they realize that they were already cut by her.

Then, The bell rang.

"Ha? They won already? It kinda boring..."

Dream said.

"Well, It won't be boring after this. After me, it's you two. Then it's all of us."

Eis said. Dream and Lily get what she meant by that.

"Yeah. We will root for you President!"

"Do your best!"

Lily and Dream hype Eis up.

"Thank you. I will bring forth Victory!"

She walked out the room. A few minutes later, Julius and the other come inside the room.

"Good Work!"

Dream and Lily said simultaneously toward the Battle Royal team. They all said 'Thank you' while drinking their water.

They talked about the experience a bit. Then The Match of Eis vs A man called Lan. He is fighting using his Sword.

'I'm sure it's going to be a m******e'

Dream thought. But he's wrong.

The battle went fiercely. Eis and Lan fighting blow for blow. They exchanged attack at each other for fifteen minutes total. Until Eis finally hit him to a corner and froze everything around him. Making him unable to move.

Seeing how fierce the battle is, Dream started to get his hope back. He started Smiling excitedly.

'Ah, There it is. The Battle Smile' Everyone faced is looking like they were thinking that.

Eis move on to the next fight. She went back to the waiting room to wait for her turn. It will be a long time before she got to fight again.

"Good Work President. That's a great battle!"

Lily said with great excitement.

"Thank you. It's really close."

"Now I want to go immediately!"

Dream said while grinning.

"You can't! Your match is tomorrow and the day after!"

Lily said. She smack Dream on the back to calm him down.

"Yeah... I can't wait for tomorrow!"

Dream finally stop grinning.

Couple of hours has passed. Eis Finally found her next opponent.

"Hmmm, Anta huh.."

Eis muttered. It's unusual to see her like that. So Everyone in the room started to get worried.

"What's the matter President?"

Sylvie ask.

"Nothing... It just, The Next match I have a chance to actually lose..."

Everyone shocked hearing that.

"Wait, What do you mean by that?"

"As I said. I have a chance to lose. Anta is last year finalist with me. So, It essentially a final in the Second match."

"Oh that's what you mean. I know you're going to win President. After all, You have been training with us!"

Said Lily with confidence.

"Ahaha... Thank you. I will bring victory to our academy!"

She said while walking out.

Dream noticed something in Eis eyes. Something unpleasant.

"Sorry, I got a stomachache!"

Dream went out. He sneakily tailed Eis.

Dream see Eis is talking with a man. So he goes closer to eavesdrop their conversation.

"Sorry for making you wait... Anta..."

Dream shocked hearing that name.

Why is she meeting with him? What is going on here? Is something about to happen to her? Why is she meeting with her enemy?

Then Anta started talking.

"How about our Deal? You accept it?"

Dream get more wary about the situation. Then Dream saw Eis smiling.

"Sure... 1 Million Rue right? Transfer the money to me after the match ended."

"Haha! Nice doing business with you!"

Dream started to get disgusted.

President, no. Eis. You traitorous bastard. I can't believe this! You betrayed us. What should I do? Report it to Miss Elaine? No... It going to be troublesome for me. Let's keep this until the tournament is over. I won't ever talk to That Eis again. Ice Princess? Don't make me laugh. In the end, She bow before money.

Dream impression about Eis goes bad. The Eis that he respect before is gone. In the end, She's all about money. Dream can't believe that she would throw away the pride of Million Years Academy, The strongest academy for some money.

Dream went outside in disgust to try and make his mood better.

I can't believe that just happen. In 3 vs 3 battle, There's a high chance that I meet Anta again. And Eis is going to sell us out for some money. I'm 100 percent sure that is going to happen. If that how it is, I will fight against everyone on that battle alone. I don't need her. I will destroy everything. I will destroy the bastard who sell us and buy us. Eis and Anta. Both of you is on my list. Just you wait!

Dream thought filled with hatred. The Thought of him. The strongest ally he could have. Getting betrayed, Made him really mad. The anger from getting betrayed is so big. It's even bigger than the time he was bullied combined.

He doesn't even want to watch the match anymore. So he decided to go back to the Academy. Everyone should be watching in the arena now. But, Dream just went back home because of the disappointment.

I don't care about the tournament anymore. I don't care about who are we going to fight. I'm just going to destroy them all by myself. I can't trust any of the people there.

"Dream where are you going?"

Elaine suddenly came up behind Dream. She see Dream face and ask.

"What happened?"

She said with a worried tone.

"Nothing. I'm just disappointed in this Academy."

He said with an angry tone. He walked toward the Dorm as he said that. Elaine is confused hearing that.

"Seriously, What happened?"

Elaine kept asking herself that. What made Dream so mad about the Tournament? He even said he's disappointed with the Academy he is in.

"I need to talk to him later. I want to watch Eis dominate the competition!"

Elaine said with a confidence.

'You're going to get disappointed.'

Dream thought as he heard Elaine from the distance.

Dream went back to the dorm and straight to his room. In there, He went to his bathroom and fill his bathtub up. Then he fully submerged inside the water.

He filled his thought with every single great memories that he have. It's like he went inside his own world. A world where he was alone in a quiet and calm space. No one is there beside Dream. He get rid of all the negative thought and replace it with positive thought.

He kept his head in the water. Never once he went back up to get air. It's like he was breathing underwater. But, he just hold his breath so long.

Then after an hour passed, he finally done. He clean the bathtub and dry his body.

Then, With a great mood, He go outside the Academy and went to the outside of Nova by running. Then he went inside the dense forest.

"Finally, I could have my alone time in the forest. Let go explore. I won't get lost because I can just jump to the top and see the Nova. No matter how far it is, I won't get lost."

Then Dream started going forward. He doesn't care about his whereabouts anymore. He is free from everything. He's free from the public eyes. Even though he had a battle tomorrow, He just doesn't give a crap.

He keep bouncing from tree to tree. The Sun still on the top. Which mean it's still have a lot of light before it's going to get dark.

When Dream is bouncing from tree to tree, Dream hear a roar.

"Well, What's that roar? It's not an animal roar."

Dream decided to check the roar out. As soon as he get closer, He saw an ant, eating a tiger.

"Hoo? It's been a long time since I seen the Ant. Which mean, Anne is somewhere in Nova. Let's take care of this ant real quick"

Dream jumped and kick the ant. The ant Screech and let out an intense bloodlust.

"Ooh! How I missed the feeling of bloodlust! Let's rock!"

Dream take out the Halberd of Ira and charged toward the ant. The ant swing its arm toward Dream. Dream swing his halberd up and s***h the ant arm.

*SCREEEEECH!*

"Oh! Even more bloodlust! You make me feel the feeling I've missed! Thank you!"

Dream swing his Halberd town and split the Ant into half.

"You made me happy. You know what, I think monster is really cool. They are a monster that doesn't care about anything other than winning. They are similar like me."

Dream decided to went back to the academy. After he jump really high up, He know where the Nova is. So he ran really fast toward the academy.

After he went back, There's nobody there. So he thought that they are still on the Arena. So he decided to went back to his room and get some sleep. Tomorrow is his match. His mood get better after fighting the ant monster.
