A week went by, and I didn’t see Jax at all. I was only brave enough to ask Sheila about him, she told me he usually wasn’t around much, he liked to go do his own thing and I knew that meant he was out hunting people.
Without him around, I found the pack members slowly became more cruel towards me.
There was a certain group who particularly hated me the most, there were four females and three males not much older than me.
I already felt out of place here being the only black person, I had noticed all the females here looked like supermodels and were blonde with blue eyes, some had green, but it was almost like they only allowed the most beautiful females to stay here, and their favorites were blondes besides Sheila, but she, like me, probably didn’t count as she wasn’t dominant.
I was sorting out freshly washed clothes when the group came in to the kitchen together.
The females were all blonde and stunning to look at with their perfect tiny frames, I had worked out pretty quickly that Jessica was the leader of them all and the more dominant female in their group. Leo, her mate, was the more dominant male.
They were all talking among one another when Jessica spotted me and giggled to the rest, “I wonder if all omegas look that pathetic and gross.”
She came over and snatched my thick rimmed glasses off my face, I didn’t always wear them, I should have, but I was embarrassed by my already overly geeky appearance.
Leo snatched them from her hands and threw them to the floor, stomping on them.
“No wolf should be so weak that they need to wear glasses, especially not these ugly things.”
One of the other females came over and spilled her drink over me where I had been kneeling on the floor sorting through the wash basket.
Her cherry lemonade poured all over my hair and face, and she fake pouted when she said, “oh dear, how clumsy of me, go make me another drink, omega girl.”
She shoved the glass in my hand and I got up and made her another drink. Pfft, well, at least I smelt like nice cherries now, I thought silently.
I gave her the drink and Leo shoved my head hard, making them laugh before they walked away.
Honestly, it didn’t faze me too much, I was used to so much worse with my parents growing up.
Romulus walked in when I was just finishing sorting the last bits of washing and for a split second I thought it was Jax, their faces were almost identical except Jax had a slightly more almond shape to his eyes and was blonde.
A tiny petite blonde female came in behind him, she had white blonde hair except it had an ombré effect with brown on top that blended into the white blonde, it looked gorgeous with it styled into thick bouncy curls.
He towered over her five three frame, and she really did look so tiny, even her skeleton must have been tiny. How did all that muscle of his not crush her underneath him? I knew she was his girlfriend because he grabbed her and kissed her passionately, leaving her breathless when he released her.
“What do you want to eat beautiful?” He asked her.
“You choose babe, I don’t mind,” she smiled.
He came over to me and in a colder tone said, “make us a picnic up.”
I nodded and got to work while she cooed at how cute it was he wanted to take her on a picnic and then run in their wolf forms afterward.
While I was packing the snacks and drinks, he said, “Jax not here?” I shook my head no.
“Not surprised, he does that just so you know, gets all excited over a new wolf and then grows bored and forgets about them, Sheila was his favourite before you.” Great. Lucky me.
I should have kept my mouth shut, but I said quietly, “he said we were friends.”
Romulus laughed and replied, “he says a lot of things, but he’s not exactly a stable minded wolf, in all honesty he’s more wolf than human with his way of thinking. Don’t be surprised if he starts treating you like a stranger.” He grabbed the basket from me, and they left.
I didn’t want what he said to be true, Jax had promised not to hurt me again, but sadly, it wouldn’t surprise me if his brother was right, I’d seen how Jax could be warm one minute and ice-cold the next.
The alpha wasn’t too bad, he was bossy and strict, but he wasn’t cruel or mean to me, and neither was his Luna, the triplets’ mom. She was beautiful, and I could see the boys equally took after her and their dad in the looks department.
She had light blonde hair that she usually kept tied back into a ponytail, she had piercing green eyes with flecks of gold running through, must be where the guys got their strange flecks of gold, like the wolf’s eye colour had mixed in with their normal.
She was slender and petite, but also toned with muscle, she certainly wasn’t someone I’d want to mess with.
I don’t know why, perhaps maternal instincts? But she seemed to like me, and we’d often have little chats together whenever we bumped into one another.
I really liked their mom. Annie lived separate from the pack, as she didn’t want to bring her young daughter up in such a violent atmosphere.
Wolves would challenge one another daily, but thankfully I hadn’t seen anyone die, the loser always chose to show submission.
I hadn’t seen Fenris since the time I’d arrived here with Jax, he truly did seem to keep himself to himself.
I full on crapped myself when someone told me the alpha wanted to speak to Fenris and I needed to go get him from his room.
I was sure the wolf who told me this was the one who was meant to get him, and he was using me to hide behind because he was scared.
I slowly made my way up the stairs like some horror movie, he was on the first floor and I found myself even tip toeing, I have no idea why I thought that would help me.
I reached his door and held my breath, again, I didn’t know why I thought this would help, and I almost bolted when I remembered what Jax had said happened to the last wolf who had just walked into his room.
I forced myself to knock, but it was so gentle I may as well had been softly pawing at the door. No answer, so I knocked louder.
There was still no answer, so I went back downstairs, but the alpha appeared this time and when I told him Fenris wasn’t answering he said firmly, “just go in and get him, he likes to pretend he can’t hear sometimes, but it’s important I speak with him.”
When I stood frozen, he lost patience and snapped, “go!”
I stomped up the stairs, this time grumbling in my head why he couldn’t damn well get his own son. Did he want his new shiny omega toy to get crushed and destroyed?
I was so busy having a tantrum, I banged on the door a little hard and quickly dropped my hand.
He still wouldn’t answer me, so I slowly opened the door and peeked my head inside. It. Was. Awkward.
He was sitting on the edge of his bed and looked up at me with anger, between his legs was the pretty blonde who had thrown her drink over me earlier, and she was, uh, giving him oral s**x.
He pushed her away and quickly pulled his trousers up, and snapped, “f.ucking knock before you come in.”
I bowed my head like I’d seen Sheila do and quickly said, “I’m so sorry.”
I was waiting for him to come beat the c.rap out of me like he had that wolf, but he didn’t. There was still a hint of a growl in his voice when he asked, “what do you want?”
I didn’t get to answer because the she-wolf got up and s.lapped me across the face so hard my face smacked into his door, making my nose bleed. “How dare you interrupt us!” She squealed like a banshee.
Fenris rolled his eyes and said, “get out.” She was still glaring at me, so he got up and roughly pushed her out of his room and slammed the door on her.
I held my nose, trying to make sure my blood didn’t ruin his perfect white carpet.
He frowned at me for a second and then grabbing some tissues from his bedside table, he shoved them in my hand.
“Thankyou,” I mumbled.
“What did you want?” He asked again.
“Sorry, your dad said he needs to talk to you, that it’s really important and I wouldn’t have bothered you if he hadn’t insisted and—” he cut me off by saying, “stop rambling, it’s fine, I’ll be there in a sec.”
“He was pretty insistent,” I said quietly.
He looked at me, trying to drive the point home when he said, “tell him I need ten minutes.”
I still wasn’t understanding his look until I looked down at his trousers and saw he was still rock hard, definitely scary big like Jax and there was a small damp patch that I knew from what Jax had taught me was pre-c*m leaking through.
I stared at his e.rection, then up at his face, and then back again, and stuttered, “uh, oh, damn, uh, ok.” I rushed out the door before it could get any more awkward.
I cleaned up my nose in the bathroom that was at the end of the hallway and went back to the alpha. “Where is he?” he asked.
“Uh, he said he needed ten minutes.”
“Go tell him he better get down here now.”
“I can’t, he needs to, um, well, relieve himself first.” I stumbled over my words and the alpha, who was his dad, grew uncomfortable and muttered, “oh right, ok.”
He quickly left me alone after that, and I got back to cleaning the place and changing everyone’s bedsheets.
I was mopping the floor later that day when Jax was handcuffed in chains and being led inside by Fenris and his dad.
Jax was covered in blood and I knew it wasn’t his. As they passed me by, Jax grinned and said, “miss me?”
“Where are you being taken?” I asked, and then slammed a hand over my mouth. They didn’t like when I spoke without being spoken to first in this place.
Jax ignored the glares his father and brother gave me and said, “they don’t like what I do, and they know I’ll only escape from the asylum again, so dear old dad and bro here are going to lock me in the cage for my time-out.”
They pushed him forward, and I watched as they led him down into the basement.
I wanted to go speak to Jax, he was the only wolf here who spoke nicely to me, ironic the killer wolf would be the only one who liked me.
I had a small break and thought I would use it to explore outside in the big forest behind this mansion. I walked along, enjoying the peace and the birds singing.
Dread filled me when I saw Jessica and her little group up ahead, I went to turn back, but they’d already spotted me. “Hey omega, come join us!”
I didn’t want to, something felt off. Before I knew it, they had all circled me.
I looked at Jessica, and she punched me in the face. “Don’t look me in the eyes, you pathetic creature!”
“Sorry,” I whispered, and lowered my head, holding my jaw. Leo pushed me onto my knees and said, “kiss her shoe to show how sorry you are.”
I felt so humiliated, and I froze, not knowing what to do in this kind of situation. My parents had always punished me in a cold and strict way, this was different, it was cruel and nasty.
Leo grabbed me by my hair and forced my face down next to her shoe. I think she had stepped in dog s.hit or something because I could smell it, I wisely didn’t try to c.rack any jokes. They didn’t let me up until I had kissed that manky shoe. Someone threw a punch, and before I knew it, I was on the floor being kicked and punched and beaten by all five of them.
I cried and begged, and I even whimpered, but they didn’t care, if anything it seemed to excite their wolf side.
When I lay limp and bleeding, they finally left me alone.
I cried for a long time, but eventually, I slowly and painfully got onto my feet and started making my way back.
No one batted an eyelid at my condition, and I dragged myself to the bathroom to try and clean myself up.
The blood was gone, but bruises began to blossom across my body and my face. The alpha allowed me to rest in my room, but he didn’t show any compassion, just said he would handle it when he was free.
I lay down for a while, and then I decided I wanted to see Jax, no one had said I couldn’t, and I was already hurt, so what was a few more hits?
I crept quietly down the stairs and made my way to the basement. The floor was concrete down there and there were three thick massive black steeled cages. Jax was in one and was sitting on the floor with a knee propped up with his forearm resting on it.
“Jax?” I whispered.
He looked up at me and rose his eyebrows. “What are you doing here?” He asked.
“I wanted to see you.”
Grinning, he got to his feet and came over and held the bars. “Ah, so you did miss me?”
I narrowed my eyes at him, but smiled.
“How long are you in here for?”
He shrugged, “usually for a few days before my parents start feeling guilty.” He looked at my face and my arms, and asked, “what the f***k happened to you?”
I shook my head and went to step back, but he grabbed a fistful of my top and pulled me roughly up against the cage. “F.ucking tell me.”
I told him and he lost it. Big time. He turned and smashed his fist into the concrete wall so hard it cracked and dented. I worried if this cage could actually hold him, or if he’d only pretended it could for his parents’ sake.
He punched the wall a few more times until his knuckles were bleeding heavily. He took a slow breath before facing me and said, “as soon as I’m out of this, I will f.ucking kill them all.”
“No Jax! I don’t want you to kill anyone, especially not on my behalf.”
“No one f.ucking touches my friend and gets away with it. I won’t kill them, but I will f.ucking beat them to within an inch of their lives.”
He started growling inhumanly, and I said softly, “it’s ok Jax, why are you so upset, isn’t this how weak wolves are treated?”
He gripped the bars of the cage, so tightly, I swear I heard them creak.
Looking me in the eyes, he said, “no, they don’t attack or abuse submissive wolves like that, they’ve done this because you’re an omega, and they know I’m not there to protect you.”
I touched his hand lightly, but he pulled away angrily, and said, “go get my brother Fenris, I need to speak with him.”
“About what?”
“Just get him, Rose!” He snapped.
“Sheesh, fine.” I stood up and regretted saying anything as he stared at me. “Did you just show sarcasm?” He asked surprised.
“Yes, sorry, the omega in me slips out every so often. My parents beat me into behaving mature and sensible, but every so often my silly, playful side comes out.”
“I like your silly playful side, I’d like to see more of it,” he answered.
Grinning, I ran up the stairs and then hobbled up because running was painful right now.
I knocked on Fenris’ door and this time, thankfully, he answered it. He looked down at me and said, “you again. What now?”
