Chapter 18

[Ryder]

The doctor tried to take her from my arms and I growled. “Ryder we need you to leave” the doctor said calmly.

“I’m not f*****g leaving my mate” I growled loudly. Alpha came rushing in “what happened?” he asked while my precious mate was taken from my arms and placed onto the bed. Every single time someone touched her I couldn’t help but growl. I ignored Alpha, unable to focus on anything but my mate. When they started putting IV needles in her was when I couldn’t take it any longer and I snapped. “Stop hurting my mate” I roared as I ripped them off of her.

“Ryder you have to leave the room, otherwise you won’t let us help her” the doctors told me. My anger bubbled again. How dare they think that I don’t care for my mate.

“Leave,Ryder” Alpha said in his dominating tone, leaving me no choice but to comply. I took one last look at my injured mate and my heart ached. “ I did this to her” I thought as I left the room and shifted into my wolf.

It’s been over a day and she still hasn’t woken up. I haven’t slept a wink and haven’t even left her side in case something bad happens. I decided I was better in my wolf form as I could easily detect and fight any threats to my mate.

My head hurts like hell. I move my hands and all I can feel is something soft. Slowly I managed to peel open my eyes in confusion and smiled at the sight in front of me. Ryder was sprawled out on my legs in a deep slumber. “Excuse me” I call out to the nurses and Ryder fidgets before settling again. At once a nurse bursts into the room and I put my finger to my lips and signal to Ryder. “How are you feeling? You’ve been out for 2 days” the nurse said. Two days?

“I mean my throat is a bit dry and I have a headache but apart from that I’m ok” I mumble back.

“I’ll just get you some water, anything else you need?”

“Umm maybe some clothes for him to change into when he wakes up” I croak and she nods.

“He may sleep for a while, I don’t think he slept once in the past two days. He didn’t leave here once. He just paced around the bed” the nurse informs me and leaves. My hands bury themselves in his comforting fur and he purrs in his sleep. Soon enough the nurse walks back in with all of the requested items and tells me she’ll be back to check on me and discharge me later on.
