Chapter 20

[Serena]

“Alex” I breathed and pulled him into me.

“Serena, I’m so sorry. What Ryder did was unforgivable” he said shaking his head.

“It’s ok. We can talk about it later” I said and then turned back to the warrior. “If you weren’t there when I collapsed. I probably wouldn’t have been found in time. So I should thank you. May I ask your name?”

“Of course. It’s Kieran and yours is ?” he replied.

“Serena. I should probably take it easy for a few days, but after that I would like to get to know you a little more, if you would like to of course” I said and he nodded and excused himself. By this point Alex had already fallen asleep on my shoulder so I picked up the remote control for the TV and started rewatching the vampire diaries.

When I reached the last episode I couldn’t help the tears. Alex was awake immediately and pulled me closer to him. “What happened?” he asked softly.

“Stefan” was all I could manage and his body tensed. “You are crying for another man” he growled and I giggled.

“It’s only a character. Don’t worry I’m not leaving you”

“Good because I won’t let you.”

“Listen, Alex about Ryder—“ I started.

“What Ryder did was unforgivable and he can’t be trusted around you again” Alex interjected harshly.

“No, it was a mistake. He didn’t even hit me full force because of the mate bond. He needs to know that I forgive him” I said.

{next day}

I woke up to find Serena gone. I stomped out of my bedroom, following her scent until I walked in on her and Kieran eating breakfast together. I growled at Kieran and he whimpered. Without thinking, I scooped Serena gently into my arms and placed her back on the bed in our room. “I thought you left me” I whimpered and she started planning with my hair.

“I wouldn’t leave without saying goodbye, but I do need to catch up on some school work at home” she said and reluctantly I nodded.

I had just dropped Serena off at home and I was already missing her. However, I decided that I would help my dad do the paperwork as he was slowly handing me the alpha title. After a few hours, I used my new phone that a pack member went out to buy for me to call Serena.

“Hello?” her confused voice called out.

“It’s me. I miss you” I replied and I heard her sigh in relief.

“Why don’t I recognise this number? “

“Oh, when you were away my emotions sort of got the best of me and” I trailed off embarrassed about my previous action.

“And?” she pressed.

“And I crushed it in my hand” I blurted out waiting for her to reprimand me, but instead she laughed.

“Your so cute when your embarrassed” she giggled.

“Can’t you come back now?” I whined.

“I can’t I have so much to catch up on” she explained.

“Is your dad there?” I asked, not wanting to leave my mate alone.

“No. I think he’s forgotten about me and abandoned this house. It looks like no one has been in here in a while and I can’t get a hold of him” she said, her voice wavering like she was on the verge of tears.

“Baby, it’s ok. I will come and see you soon I just have to finish up with this last bit of work” I sighed.

“It’s fine. Do your work” she said.

“I love you” I replied and ended the call. I hurried to finish the paperwork and rushed over to her house without seeing another soul.
