[Kat's P.O.V]
Alpha Tanner had summoned me to his office, and I knew it would be about Lexi. Plans would need to be made for when she would become Luna. It was a celebration that would be held for multiple days, a time for our pack to rejoice and be a complete pack.
I knock lightly on the door, already hearing exciting chatter. I'm astonished as a familiar face opens the door, Beta Daniel. He had been away for weeks taking care of some business that Alpha Tanner needed to be done. He was a tall man with shoulder-length brown hair that he wore in a ponytail most of the time. His silver eyes lock on me, and he beams. "KitKat," he says, pulling me into a tight hug. I roll my eyes at the childish nickname he had given me as a kid.
"I didn't know you were back," I say, pushing his shoulder playfully. I had known Daniel for years and considered him one of my best friends.
"I just got back. Alpha just filled me in on the good news." He says, beaming at me.
Alpha Tanner looks up from his desk of papers and smiles at me. "We have a Luna Ceremony to plan." I had been right.
"We have a couple of days left of the Mating Ceremony. Once all the packs leave, I don't want to waste time. We need to start planning!" He says excitedly.
Daniel passes me a lopsided grin at the excitement our Alpha is showing. Then, Alpha Tanner takes a piece of paper from his desk and holds it out for me.
"Kat, of course, you're in charge of security. It's a special night, and I can't afford anything going wrong. You'll have the male wolves at your disposal," He says.
I nod before casting a glance down at the paper. It was a mess. Alpha Tanner may be a good Alpha, but when it came to celebrating, he wasn't the best. Well, neither was I. I would have to go pass this on to the Omega.
I excuse myself from the two males and head to the pack house. I don't have to look very long before I see the Omega.
Alda is small, which most Omegas are, but she has this enthusiasm about her that most people love. She bounces excitedly as she catches sight of me. "Kat," she says, waving her arms over her head to catch my attention.
"Hello, Alda," I say, smiling kindly at her.
"I heard you found your mate as well, Alpha Elias, if I'm correct," she says, suggestively wiggling her eyebrows.
"Yeah, yeah," I grumble. Alda stares at me, her eyebrows creasing in confusion.
"It's nothing. Alpha Tanner wanted me to give you the plans for the Luna Ceremony."
I hand her the piece of paper, which she takes carefully. "Omg, this is so exciting," she says, practically bursting with delight.
A shiver runs through my spine, and I immediately know Alpha Elias is near me. Sure enough, I catch sight of his tall form walking to the packed kitchen, a mug held tightly in his clasp.
"Alpha Elias," I call, waving a hand at Alda in apology. She watches me run toward Alpha Elias with laughing eyes.
Elias stops casting a glance over his shoulder. As soon as I get about 6 feet, he immediately tenses. "Kat," He says, turning his blazing eyes on me.
"Are you going to the Ceremony tonight?" I question and immediately feel stupid. Of course, he would. That's the whole point of why his pack was here.
"Yes," he answers. He makes no move to say anything else, and my heart sinks. I don't know what I had expected, but it wasn't this.
"Alright, well, you enjoy the ceremony," I say before I turn on my heel.
The words felt weird, leaving my tongue. But I knew it was only because I was supposed to be more than a professional acquaintance to him.
Kit rustles in the back of my mind, stirring thoughts in my head that had no business being there.
I groan loudly as I go through my closet, trying to find something more feminine than my typical rugged look. Without an ounce of hope that I would find anything suitable for the night, I toss legging after legging to the floor. I could never have enough black leggings.
With a satisfied humph, my fingers graze a thin black silky material buried in the depths of my closet. Then, with a tug, it comes free and unfolds in my hands.
It was my old homecoming dress. A tiny, thin black mini dress that probably now wouldn't go past my thighs. I was grateful for the sweetheart's neckline, as it flattered just the right amount of curve. I slip it on, praying to the goddess that I could somehow pull this off.
"Whelp," I mutter, the dress brushing softly on my bare thighs as I run my hands down it. "This is as good as it's gonna get on such short notice."
I leave my house with my red hair in brilliant rosy ringlets down my back. I shiver slightly as a cool breeze blows gently across my bare back. The thin material of the dress not putting much of a fight up against the subtle breeze.
As I crossed the lawn to the pack house, my black combat boots made no noise. They would do me well if a fight broke out tonight, as this room was about to be filled with alcohol and pure animal instinct. A combination that almost always ended with some commotion. It didn't help that most females were in heat tonight due to the full moon.
Once again, my eyes scope my surroundings of the party. This one is wilder than yesterday, great! Feeling like déjà vu, I catch sight of Elias and Beta Ky, talking closely in a dim corner of the room.
