Werloth POV:
I panicked.
How could I leave her for a moment and the next she’s gone?
No, it couldn’t be.
I was running all over the palace and I couldn’t find her.
I didn’t flash around the Palace looking for Angeline because I wanted to make sure my eyes were looking at every inch of the place.
The smoke was making my eyes burn and I was coughing a lot.
“Werloth, please, get out of there! You need to be alive for our realm, we need you.” Belin mind-linked me.
“There will be no realm and no king without her by my side.” I mind-linked him back.
I was rushing all over the place and slamming every door I could.
Until I couldn’t take it anymore. I saw someone flashing at where I was and I went unconscious.
When I opened my eyes, I was in my room, laid on my bed.
I sat on the bed and Balin was there with Melian.
“What happened? We were worried, but don’t worry King Werloth. I saved you.” Melian told me.
I stood up in a jolt.
“Where’s Angeline? I need to see her.” She was the first thing that came into my mind.
Belin was looking down.
“King Werloth, you’ve been resting for a couple of days now. The healer is taking care of you in the castle. You inhaled a lot of smoke. You weren’t supposed to be there.” Melian said firmly.
“All I care now is about Angeline. Where is she?” I said and made my way to the door.
“Please, Sir. We couldn’t find her. Some Elves are helping to remove the debris, but still we couldn’t find her.” Balin said.
“She’s alive. I know she is or else I'd have felt something. I have to go there and find her myself.” I was almost sobbing.
“I’m sorry King Werloth. But there is no way anyone could survive the fire. It took all over the palace and there’s nothing left.” Melian said like it was no big deal at all, almost expressionless.
I leaned my back on the door and slid down until I could feel the floor under me.
I sat, placed my elbows on my knees and my hands on my head and tears started to slide down on my face.
No, I won’t give up on her. I needed to see her or her body.
I stood up and flashed to where the Healing Palace was.
I saw some elves removing the debris and others already planning to rebuild it again.
“Does anybody know what happened when the Palace went on fire?” I asked with my commanding loud voice.
If somebody had any possible idea, he would tell me.
Everybody froze and stared at me.
I saw an Elf approaching and I used one of my psychic powers, which was that I’d enter into his mind to make sure he’d tell me only the truth. He couldn’t lie.
I focused on him and I could feel my mind burning entering his mind.
I decided I would avoid using it on people before, but now having my beloved missing and in danger, my morals and manners didn’t even matter a bit.
“Your Highness, I’m sorry, Sir. I’m the responsible for supervising the Palace’s security and the fire alarm system and I checked the whole system just before it happened. The palace had the fire alarm system and its license up to date and everyone was strictly following all the security protocol. Besides, the only place they ever had to use fire was in the kitchen and, according to another one of our fire inspectors, the fire didn’t start there.” He said.
He got some papers in his hand that he was flipping through until he stopped.
“There. The fire started in the hall on the third floor, where our Queen was resting. Sir, I’m afraid someone did it on purpose.” He said, and I heard someone shouting, calling for help above the debris.
“I found a body among the debris. Someone help me.”
I froze and made my way there until I could see her.
She was naked. I quickly took my shirt off and covered her.
I wanted to check on her but everybody was babbling and screaming with all the chaos.
“Quiet.” I commanded, shouting.
Everybody froze and kept in silence.
It was like they weren’t even there.
I placed her body closer to me and I could hear her heart was still beating.
She was covered with fire stains, almost glowing.
Her body and face were dirty from the dust and fire ashes and she was still hot, but not a single scratch. Her clothes were burnt, though.
I glared at her and she could still look as stunning as ever.
I lifted her up bridal style and flashed over the castle and demanded the presence of a Healer.
She came right away and when she saw Angeline, her eyes opened wide.
“Goddess, you found her, let me check on her” she said, and placed her fingers on Angel’s temple for a brief moment.
“She’s fine. How is this possible? We should get her cleaned and dressed up. She’ll wake up in no time. Could you ask for some servants to help me?” She asked and I mind-linked them.
The servants came right away. I stood beside her the whole time, I wouldn’t let her go anymore.
After they cleaned and dressed her up, I took my Angel to my bedroom and laid her on my bed, where she belongs.
The Healer came by again to check on her.
“That’s unbelievable. Almost a miracle. She hadn't even a single scratch. How come? She’s really an Angel.” The healer said in surprise before leaving the room.
I'm sure it's a dragon thing. It's not easy to get a dragon harmed, especially having royal blood and not just by that. She's also a Hybrid.
Someone knocked on the door and I said to come in.
Balin and Melian came in. Balin had a happy expression and Melian a surprising face.
“Wait, but how? Wasn’t she supposed to be dead? How come?” Melian asked and the way she asked it enraged me to the point that I almost threw her outside my room. I was frustrated.
Angeline has been in danger two times in a roll already.
I was always very calm and patient, but things were different when it was about my angel’s safety.
No one would ever dare to hurt her or they would meet my hidden rage locked up for so long, but I felt like it was starting to knock on the door inside me ready to come out.
“ Thank Goddess she’s fine. Let’s hope she doesn’t put herself in danger again.” Melian said ironically.
“She didn’t put herself in danger, someone is trying to kill her and I won’t allow it.” I told her firmly.
“We have to do something. Maybe we could go to the dungeon to interrogate the waitress hostage”, Balin said. It was a great idea.
“Maybe you should stay with her. She needs you, King Werloth and Balin should be staying here too, guarding her. I mean, if someone tried to get her killed, maybe they could try it again.” Melian said, surprising me.
“I hate to go to rest. I was worried about you, King Werloth, I couldn’t even sleep in the last couple of days.” Melian said, and I thanked her for the consideration and she left.
“I will stay in the hall if you need something,” Balin said, and I nodded.
I leaned my head to see my Angel and I was so glad she was with me now and she was fine.
She was wearing a white elf dress. Her collarbones were bare to my hungry eyes and it was inviting my lips. I couldn’t even say she was looking like an angel right now, because it would be foolish to confirm something that it was needless to say.
I ran my fingers softly on her silk face.
“Come back to me soon, my Queen.” I whispered in her ear and I saw she slightly moved.
.
Angeline POV:
“Do you really think you can be with him, b***h?” I heard someone saying.
I couldn’t open my eyes but my dragon’s senses were overflowing.
“I will teach you a lesson. It looks like you’re hard to kill, but not impossible.” A woman's voice said, but it sounded so mischievous and enraged.
“Now, we’re in the bathroom. You’ll stay inside this cabin and I've got some surprise for you.” She said happily and I felt something liquid on my arm and my neck.
“That way your scent will be almost gone completely.”
I had to open my eyes, I had to do something, but I was paralyzed.
“Bye, b***h! Hope you enjoy your stay in the Underworld. Surely, King Phoenix will be pleasant to deal with someone as nasty as you. I’ll burn you alive to help you get there.” She said, and I heard the door slam loudly.
Then I panicked. What was happening?
I sniffed fire.
“Really? Will she try to burn me?” I asked inwardly, and Delphyne laughed out loud.
“She clearly didn’t do her homework that well. She's clearly underestimating us”, Delphyne stated.
“I hope Werloth is fine. I don’t want him to get hurt, I miss him already.” I told her and she nodded. I fell into a deep slumber to rest and recover my energy.
“Come back to me soon, my Queen.” I heard Werloth’s voice whispering in my ear all of a sudden and I knew I had to wake up.
I tried so hard to move but I couldn’t.
I tried my best and I could feel myself again. I was getting control back over my body.
I tried to open my eyes, but nothing.
I could feel the tingles and electric jolts on my face, on my arms and every place he was touching right now.
Come on, I got to try harder for him.
I forced my eyes open with all that I had and I could feel my eyelid opening its way slowly, it was bright and blurry. I put my hands over my face to cover the brightness from my eyes.
“Angeline.” I heard that manly voice calling me.
I turned my face and a very blond, gorgeous and lovely elf king was there.
I smiled at him and he wrapped his arms around me so tightly that I felt truly loved.
“Goddess. I missed you. I thought I'd lost you.” He told me, still holding me like his life depended on it.
“Werloth, no. You will never lose me. Can you tell me what happened?” I asked him and we were both sitting on the bed and he told me everything, holding my hand.
“Whoever did this, thought that I would die, but my body was only paralyzed. I was there, I could hear my parents, my grandpa, you and someone else.” I frowned and he furrowed his eyebrows.
“Can you tell me about it?” He asked me.
“Better, I can show you.” I placed my fingers on his temple and all I could see was black but I could make him hear it.
His face frowned and he was concerned, but he slightly chuckled at Delphyne and mine’s little statement.
“We’re beautiful and funny” Delphyne said proudly, and I chuckled.
“You have a nice psychic power.” He told me, smiling, and I smiled back.
“You haven’t seen Bella’s power yet” I said back at him, still smiling.
“How many days passed by?” I asked him.
“About two days.” He replied, standing up.
"How are you feeling? I promise you I'll never leave your side again", he reassured me and I smiled.
Actually, I was feeling fine and renewed, like nothing bad happened to me at all.
"I'm great, 100%". I reassured him.
“Then come, you must be hungry,” he said, offering his hand to me.
“Actually, I’m not hungry. I’m starving.” I told him. He gave me a beautiful smile as an answer.
I stood up but I wrapped my arm around his arm instead and he kissed my forehead in approval.
Even Delphyne smiled in approval with those sharp fangs she had.
He flashed us to the dinner room and we heard someone arguing over the kitchen.
“You can’t bring kids over to the castle while you work, Mary and Carmen. How are you supposed to work if you have to look after them?”
I left Werloth's arms without even noticing it and rushed to the kitchen.
“What’s happening?” I asked them and a very angry Melian looked at me startled like she had just seen a ghost.
“Hello, missed us?” Delphyne teased her inwardly.
I’m glad nobody could hear it.
Mary and Carmen smiled at me and I smiled back and I noticed two kids hiding behind each of them.
“That’s my son Dain. That’s Alais, Carmen’s son”. Mary introduced them to me and I knelt down.
“Dain and Alais, I like them, especially Dain, who is almost just like us,” my golden dragon said.
Dain was a cute elf boy with bright blond hair and blue eyes, his skin was pale milky, but in a healthy way. Besides, he's an elf boy.
Alais was cute as well, he had dark brown hair and green eyes.
“Hello again both of you. It’s so nice to know they’re your kids. I met them at the training ground. How are you enjoying the castle?” I asked them.
They came out of their mom’s back and came my way. I spread my arms wide open for them and they approached me and gave me the best hug ever.
The kind of hug that only kids can give you.
“I’m sorry Queen Angeline, we…” Mary was going to say something but when the word “Queen” came out of her mouth, Melian lost it, cutting her off.
“Take them back and go back to your work”, Melian ordered them.
I wish I could punch her, but I didn’t want to meddle.
I didn’t know what Werloth and Melian decided to do about the castle and the duties she was responsible for, so I was left with no other choice but to respect her as much as I disagreed on some things.
