Angeline POV:
“I’m sorry about her, I guess she’s kind of jealous still.” I told him, trying to apologize.
There was really something about her that didn’t feel right.
I can’t trust her. It was beyond jealousy. Of course, I was jealous.
I’m possessive by nature, being a dragon, but there is more to it.
“You should just let me advise him about her.” Delphyne pleaded to me.
“Delphyne, we just met him. We can’t act like that.”
“And why not?” she asked me, but I put her at the back of my mind.
Werloth didn’t seem to be bothered about it, to my utter relief.
“What about you? Are you jealous?” He asked me, smiling, but with some sparkling curiosity in his eyes.
Oh! I wasn’t ready for this question but I wouldn’t lie, right?
“I’m possessive by nature.” I told him, regretting my words as soon as they left my mouth.
Couldn’t I just have said ‘Yes or no’?
Delphyne chuckled in my mind.
He held me tight in his arms when I wasn’t expecting it. He tilted my chin up with his fingers and he was staring intently at me.
“I feel possessive over you too. Don’t worry, I’m all yours.” He said, and I melted into his embrace.
I just kept wondering why he hadn’t kissed me yet.
What was he waiting for?
Should I be the one to do it?
No, my shyness would never allow me and, besides, it had been only a day since we met and he was making me feel different in the past few hours. I was craving him, badly.
I knew we were getting to know each other and it was amazing.
We're having mesmerizing times, but sometimes I just wish I had the courage to jump on him and kiss him like there’s no tomorrow.
Am I getting crazy? How come my body and my thoughts react in their own way?
“He’s hot, he’s out mate and he’s being romantic and treating us like a Queen. That’s why”, Delphyne explained.
“You’re right, he’s so amazing.”
We left the arena and it was almost lunch time.
We headed to Osyntheas, the Elven city, and I swear I’ve never seen anything like it.
It was like I was dreaming.
It was beautiful, technological, but it still held a lot of nature frame in it.
“I swear I’ve never been to or seen such a stunning city.” I told him honestly.
We walked around holding hands. He took me to many stores so I could get to know how it was.
Elves are truly amazing, caring and kind beings.
Until we finally stopped by at a restaurant
“That’s my favorite restaurant. That’s where we’re going to eat if that’s OK with you”. Werloth said. It was really beautiful. I took the menu and I couldn’t understand it at all.
“What’s this?” I looked startled at him. He looked over the menu and smiled.
“Tengwar. You can tell me what you want to eat and I’ll order it for you.” He told me. I was thinking but it didn’t take long until I decided what I wanted, ever since I didn’t know what they served.
“I would like to try anything you order for me; I don’t know what’s the typical food of the realm, so surprise me, please.” I pleaded and chuckled. He also smiled and nodded.
He ordered and we ate.
Actually, it’s not bad at all.
I have no clue what I ate, but it was really delicious.
I loved it and then he ordered us some dessert.
“This dessert smells weird.” Delphyne let me know.
“Maybe it’s how the Elves make it here,” I told her.
It was way better. I finished it in no time.
My head started to spin around. I stood up trying to walk somewhere. Maybe it would help.
I could feel something warm at the back of my head and the last thing I heard was Werloth's voice until I went unconscious and sparkling tingles jolted all over my body.
“Angeline!” I heard Werloth screaming.
.
Werloth POV:
We finished eating and I was going to take her to my private part of the castle after that and we would share our first kiss. I had it all planned.
I wanted everything to be perfect and I couldn’t wait any longer.
Mates usually kiss and mate right after they meet but I wanted it all to be perfect for my Angel.
As a king, the pull was thousands times stronger and I was getting out of control.
It had been a day and I wanted to claim her as mine already.
I feel like I should just bury myself hard inside her and never let go, but I wouldn’t do it that way.
I wanted to get to know her, to get to know what she likes, get any information I could possibly get and make it into a perfect and pleasant first time for both of us.
I snapped it out of my thoughts when I noticed she was getting dizzy and I could hear her heart racing and she stood up in a jolt and her eyes closed even before she fainted.
I grabbed her body before she slammed into the ground.
“Angeline!” I shouted her name.
What, in the deepest pit of the Underworld, just happened?
Some waitresses came and they looked startled.
I flashed to the Elves Healing Palace and some Elf and Fae Healers made their way to us at the same time as they saw me.
I’ve never been so confused and desperate in my life.
They laid Angeline on a bed and a Fae healer placed her fingers on Angeline’s temple.
“She’s been poisoned.” She said, frowning, and I lost it.
“How? With what?” I asked, trying to hold back how enraged I was, and the healer was still with her eyes closed focusing on Angeline’s body.
“Atropa Belladonna, but I believe she will be OK. I can see she’s a dragon and dragons are usually immune to poisons. They feel the primary effects but the poison never reaches the dragon’s system. Sooner or later, the content gets expelled naturally, vanishing from its pores. Lucky her, whoever did this had no idea about what she was. A dragon isn’t easy to kill, King Werloth. The easiest way to kill a dragon is through its mate. However, she should rest and she’ll probably wake up in a day or two.” The doctor advised me. I felt relief.
I wouldn’t leave my angel here alone but I wanted to investigate it further.
“Liam, are you there? It’s an emergency. Could you teleport? I’ll send you the location through our mind-link.” I mind-linked Liam.
He teleported in no time and his gaze met Angeline.
“What happened?” He asked with a loud voice and the Fae healer approached him and explained everything that happened.
“I will investigate it further. Please Liam, stay with her.” I told him and he rose his hand for me to wait.
He was mind-linking someone and Alice flashed to Angeline’s side, she was already sobbing.
“Queen Alice, she will be OK. She’s just resting now, lucky she’s a dragon.” The healer told Alice and she relaxed a little.
“I want to go investigate it with you”, Alice told me, but I shook my head.
“You’re a Queen. It’s too dangerous. I’ll go by myself”, I told her.
“Wait! It’ll be better if I go. I’m a wolf and a great tracker. I can catch any odd scent in no time.” Alice insisted.
“It’s better not, my love. I don’t want you to put yourself in danger ever again. We have to be here for Angeline. Leave King Werloth be, he knows what he’s doing.” Liam reassured her but she looked determined.
“I’ll let him only on one condition,” Alice said and she mind-linked someone and flashed away and came back with her dad, Alpha Randall.
“I won’t go, but my dad will. A wolf is all we need in this situation.” Alice said, and I just nodded.
I knew better than to piss an Alpha, especially if this Alpha is related to my mate.
“Angeline, I will make whoever did this to you pay.” Randall said, enraged, kissing Angeline’s forehead.
I touched him and we flashed to the restaurant.
“All right, listen up! We just had a situation here. My mate, Your Queen, got poisoned and I want to ask a few questions to every single one of the workers here.” Everybody looked startled.
“What? Somebody poisoned our Queen?”
“Oh Goddess, who would do such a thing?”
“Oh no, we’re all in danger.”
“I hope she’ll be ok”
People were babbling around.
“Please, all the workers line up in front of me and Alpha Randall will look around the place trying to find something suspicious. Cooperate and we will leave in no time”, I commanded.
They did as I told, I started to ask random questions and the right question.
I had to keep them talking to me until I asked the same things to see if their story would change. It’s an interrogatory technique.
Its goal is to search for the truth.
The succession of acts tend to discover and reconstitute the factual reality.
The truth is only one, and whoever could skip it a little from it, I would know.
“Please, Your Highness, I was just starting my shift at work when it happened.” Some nervous lady said and my attention was fully on her now.
She said that she didn’t notice anything weird from anyone before and the day had been normal, but now she was telling me that when it happened a few minutes ago, she was just starting her shift?
I pretended I didn’t notice this failure and I kept asking her the same questions I did before and some little events she told me that she couldn’t possibly remember were changing every time.
She didn’t notice it but I sure did and I was used to it.
I always avoided as much as I could using my psychic powers on my own people, but it will start to change now.
“All of you can go, except for you.” I pointed at her and she looked nervous and tense, her heart was racing and she started to tremble.
I knew it.
Randall made his way back and he handed me a uniform.
“This lady’s uniform is clean and it was inside a garbage in the restaurant backward. You should smell it.” Randall said, and I sniffed it.
“Atropa Belladonna,” I whispered.
It was a woman. The situation was simulating in my mind.
The woman must have seen us coming into the restaurant, she wore the uniform and probably this waitress was giving her a back-up.
I was so enraged that I still have no clue how I could hold myself back from killing her right at that moment, maybe because I still needed some answers.
I mind-linked Balin and he flashed over the restaurant.
“Take her to the dungeon; She will be investigated by an accomplice in the Queen’s attempted murder.” Balin’s eyes opened wide.
“Is she OK?” Balin asked, concerned.
“She is, she’s strong and no poison could take her down, my friend.” I told him and he nodded and flashed with the waitress.
“Could you smell something else, Randall?” I asked him.
“I surely can, but I don’t know if it’s your realm or something mixed with the elven scent.” He replied to me.
I took the uniform again and closed my eyes, taking a slow lungful of air, trying to find something different than Atropa Belladonna.
I smelled something sweet like chocolate, vanilla, coffee and butter bread…
Weird, it was the same scent of today’s morning, the breakfast we had.
It was the mouthwatering scent of breakfast, the same my Angel helped to cook.
This uniform was hidden in the castle’s kitchen. It was someone from the castle.
“Let’s flash back to where Angeline is, the Healing Palace”.
I touched Randall and we flashed there.
My Angel was sleeping but her face was slightly frowned. I sat next to where she was laid, and held her hand on mine and she relaxed.
“Aw, both of you are so cute.” A beautiful blue-eyed brunette said and I frowned.
“Oh! I’m sorry King Werloth. I’m Andrea, Angeline’s sister. This is Bella, our younger sister, she’s 14.” I looked around and didn’t notice that Luke was also there now.
All I saw was my Angel when I flashed there.
“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Werloth Lithron.” I introduced myself.
“You better go rest now, it’s already late. She’s OK and she’s healing. Don’t you worry about a thing, we will surely take good care of her.” The fae healer told us, they nodded.
They flashed away after we bid them good-bye. I’ll mind-link Liam and Alice as soon as Angeline wakes up.
“I’ll stay here. I’ll just go to the castle to have a bath and I’ll come back right away.” I told the healer.
“You should also have some rest, Sir. But ever since you want to stay at your mate’s side, I’ll prepare a bed for you by her side.” She told me and I smiled at her.
I flashed to my room and took a bath. I could relax a little and when I was walking out of the bathroom, a very concerned Belin came over without even knocking.
“Werloth! The Healing Palace is on fire; Is Angeline with you?” He sneaked a peek at my bed.
“Shit.” He swore.
I flashed to the Healing Palace where my beloved was at the same time, but to my utter surprise, she wasn’t there, the fire was spreading fast.
Oh no, my Angel, where are you?
