4. My Angel

Melian POV:

Urgh, I couldn’t believe it.

I worked so hard to be the Queen, to make Werloth love me.

I’ve tried to seduce him, I’ve tried so many things.

Nothing seemed to work and I was frustrated now.

We were so close. How come he found his mate now?

We were about to mate. So close, too close.

I won’t leave him, I won’t give up on him, I’m going to make his mate’s life a pith of the Underworld throughout the Realm, so she will reject him.

I will do whatever I can and beyond my limits to make her disappear and I will make Werloth fall in love with me and be his Queen.

All my work wouldn’t be for nothing.

I threatened every servant in this castle to make me look like I was the best Queen my love Werloth could have.

They wouldn’t stand against their future Queen.

I asked a wizard to cast a spell on the competitors so I could have a chance to win the Sparring and Archery Competition. I have always loved Werloth, ever since I was a teenager, and it wouldn’t be now I was going to give up on him.

He’s mine and that slut won’t ever get to be with him, he’ll end up being with me.

We’ve been together for way too long, he will believe me more than her, I’m sure of it.

I’d kill anyone who stands between me and my King. Maybe I could poison her or cause a scene and blame her.

I had too many ideas, my lips grinned on their own accord.

The servants would always be by my side, they’re afraid of me, they would never go against my words.

But for now, I have to be patient and try to look nice, understandable and good so nobody will ever suspect me.

“Ma’am, I brought you the water you ordered for” I snapped out of my thoughts as a servant came in with my water.

I gulped it all at once. I was nervous.

“Now leave before I get mad and take out my frustration on you, useless.” I ordered the servant and she looked down, scared, and left. I chuckled.

It’s good to be powerful and fearful, poor little girl, you have no idea what nightmare you’ll be living in as long as you don’t give up on what’s mine.

I had to take a lot of things and deal with too much to someone just come in and think she can just mess it all up.

I will wait for him in bed. When he opens that door, he’ll have a huge surprise.

I would make him mate me no matter what today.

I took my nightgown off and I laid on his bed.

When he came in, I would wait for him with my legs wide open.

He couldn’t possibly hold himself back.

Angeline POV:

After Werloth left my room, I felt so relaxed but still there was a part of me that didn’t want to let him go.

My heart ached for Melian too. I wanted to talk to her and try to make her feel better. I will as soon as I have the chance to.

I fell asleep like a baby and in the morning, I quickly took a shower and flashed to our mansion in the human realm and wore a floral dress. I guess floral dresses are a family thing. I made my hair a messy bun with a few strands of hair falling on my face, put bright pinkish lipstick on and some mascara as Dea taught me to, I picked up some clothes and my accessories. I am more comfortable now.

I will talk to my sisters later. I flashed back to my room in the Elven Realm and I knocked on my parent’s room very anxiously.

“Come in”, I heard a sleepy voice and made my way in.

“Mom, dad, you can’t believe what happened yesterday”. I came in rushing, sitting on the edge of the bed, my dad was still laying in bed and mom was sitting with a sleepy face.

“Angeline, do you know what time it is?” my mom asked. Actually, I had no idea.

“Please, something happened and I need you to know.” I pleaded to them to hear me.

I’ve never kept secrets from them, apart from mine and my siblings’ plan to reclaim the dragon’s realm.

But I really want them to know, they’ve always been so into the mate bond.

They paid attention to me by looking intently at my face, waiting for what I was about to say, but the door opened and Luke came in.

“Luke” I said and got up and rushed to hug him.

“Hey Angel, where the heck were you yesterday?” he asked me, hugging me back.

“Good morning to you too, good that you’re here. I was about to say something very important that happened yesterday to me that might change all our lives”, I told them.

All our lives? Maybe I was a little more anxious than I thought.

“Sis, are you drunk? What could have possibly been so huge that it would change the destiny of the world?” Luke asked, mocking me. I just rolled my eyes at him.

“I found my mate.” I said, looking down. They got very happy and cheerful but when they saw my uneasiness they frowned.

“That’s a great thing, darling, why are you so upset?” my mom asked me.

“Because…well…” I was hesitant and this time they all looked at me intently “my mate, well, he is…”

I was so excited to say it to them, but having them all staring at me like that was making me uneased. My dad seemed happy, though.

“I can’t believe I was born a few seconds first and she’s the one who first found her mate” Luke said, smiling “All right, sis, who is he? You know you can tell us”, Luke continued.

“He’s King Werloth.”, I spat out and all their faces were startled and their lips were making an “o” form.

“That’s unexpected” Luke said.

“Goddess, what a situation you’re all in and I thought my life was hard being raised locked up inside the pack house”, my mom said.

“It isn’t a no-return path. Werloth is a reasonable and wise Elf. Besides, I only knew how long he’d been waiting for his mate and he would do anything to keep this bond, he would cancel the coronation and explain why, it wouldn’t be a big deal at all. Actually, the Elves will be very happy their King has found his fated one.” My dad said and I were relieved. I love talking to my family, but talking to my dad was always the best way, because he’s been living for so long that he might have faced a lot of hard situations.

So, he could always easily find a way out of any trouble. He wasn’t just a King, he was our hero.

“He said that’s what he was going to do, but I don’t know. I’m feeling so bad at myself to know that Melian is heart-broken, Werloth said he will talk to her and help her go through it and I also want to do the same for her”, I told them.

“You’re really an angel, sis. If it was me, I would get my mate and laugh at the face of the motherfucker who tried to take her from me before.” Luke joked and made all of us laugh out loud.

“At least, Angeline is lucky enough to have someone as a mate that also saved himself for her” my mom said and I gasped and frowned at the same time, what does she mean? He never…?

When I looked at her, she was staring ironically at my dad. I chuckled.

“Mom, what do you mean? He never did?” I asked her through mind-link. I wouldn’t talk about s*x that way with my dad or Luke around.

“No sweety, he was saving himself for you, lucky girl.” she replied.

“You know what, it makes a lot of sense now, that’s why Angel was drawn to Werloth ever since she was born.” My mom said.

“I’m really happy for you. Werloth is a very nice, wise and fair man, Angel.” My dad told me honestly.

“I’m happy for you too, Angel. You’ll be living next to your mate, at least”, Luke said, and I chuckled.

He’s right. I’ll be taking archery lessons, so I’m going to stick around here for a while.

I sat slowly at the edge of their bed thinking about what my mom told me.

So, that was why he wanted to explain himself to me and looked so uneased talking about it.

When he left my room, I felt at peace, but something inside me wanted him to stay, I was craving him, for his touch.

My mind itself was wondering if he felt the same way about me?

“Is anyone hungry?” Luke asked, snapping me out of my thoughts and we all stood up.

“Please, don’t tell him I told you, let him do it at his own pace. Don’t pressure him, he might already have been dealing with a lot.” I pleaded to them and they all nodded. I knew I could count on them.

Or at least, I hoped so.

Werloth POV:

I made my way to my room after I left Angel’s room.

I wish we could stay together, sleep together and I could lay her head down on my chest to sleep, but I didn’t want to pressure her into anything.

I was happy with all these overwhelming feelings.

I entered my bedroom and a very naked Melian with her legs opened wide was waiting for me. She scared me enough to make me almost jump.

“Melian, what are you doing? I thought you had already left. Go get some sleep.” I thought she was innocent, but now I really had my doubts.

I took a bedsheet and covered her, I helped her to stand up and she tried to kiss me.

“What are you doing? Please, I can’t. You'd better leave and go to your room now”. I told her. I tried not to sound too unkindly.

“Werloth, please. I need you; I love you. Don’t you leave me, mate me and mark me, my king” she said, and I couldn’t help but feel disgusted.

What’s happening to her?

I frowned but I tried to reason.

“Melian, sit here”, I tapped the edge of the bed and she smiled and did as I told her.

“Look, I’m sorry things turned out to be this way. I want you to know that you can live in the castle until you find a place to go and I’ll help you, so as Princess Angeline, my mate, to go through it all, I owe you so much and you deserve everything, but I found her, she’s my mate and I’ve been waiting for her for so long, I won’t give up on her and I won’t ever let her go, I want it to be very clear between us, OK?” I told her honestly.

“So, you’re going to leave me because I’m not a Royal and she is? I know you’re not like that, Werloth. I also don’t need her help to go through anything. I only need you beside me.” She said and it was like she wasn't even listening.

“No. I’m going to leave you because I found my mate, and it just happened that my mate was a princess. I didn’t choose it, the Moon Goddess did. I would always choose her, even if she was a mere servant. I don’t care about ranks.” I tried to reason again, looking intently at her eyes.

“OK. I understand it, you said you owe me so much, can’t you at least sleep with me tonight as a goodbye, then?” She asked me. She was really trying hard, like she didn’t listen to a word I said. I was getting frustrated but I held it back.

“I’m sorry, Melian. But the only woman that I’d ever crave for and take now is my mate.” I said, hoping she’d understand by now.

She nodded and made her way to her room. I closed and locked the door and I threw myself on my bed, breathing in relief.

I fell asleep thinking about how beautiful Angeline is…my Angel.

I woke up and it was already morning. I mind-linked Belin and asked him to cancel the coronation and to share all over the Realms that I had finally found my mate and to every single one we invited.

He did as I said and I took a quick shower and made my way to the kitchen.

I could smell her scent as I was getting closer. I rushed in and found my Angeline, Luke, Alice and Liam.

Her brother and her parents were seated on the chair at the dining table.

I froze in my spot. She looked so beautiful and so sweet.

I just wanted to run after her and kiss her pinkish lips.

Angeline was helping the two servants with the breakfast. They all seemed happy and she was laughing and making the servants laugh.

She was distracted. She didn’t even notice I was there.

I couldn’t help but smile. Luke, Alice and Liam were talking and laughing as well.

It looks like today is a good day. I have to talk to them about Angeline and me.

“Good morning, Luke, Alice, Liam, I hope you had a very good night in the castle.” I greeted them.

They looked at me and smiled.

“Good morning and thank you, King Werloth, I had an amazing night, slept like a baby.” Luke said, winking at me, not at all like yesterday. I chuckled.

“We did, too. We loved to spend some time in the Elven Realm”, Alice said.

“Agreed, you look like you also had a wonderful night.” Liam said with a knowing smile.

Was he talking about Melian?

I guess I'd better tell them now.

“Actually I did, I found my mate.” I told them and they all looked back at me.

I thought they would be surprised but they looked like they were just pretending to do it.

“That’s unexpected” Luke said, almost chuckling, and I got a little confused.

“So I guess we’re not having the coronation anymore?” Alice asked, looking a little bit anxious.

“No, I’m so sorry I made you guys come all the way here and ended up canceling it. Belin might be mind-linking and calling everyone by now, spreading the news”, I told them and they gave me an ear-to-ear smile.
