Chapter 8 After Wedding Lila, being a good and considerate daughter-in-law, heeds to her soon-to-be mother-in-law's plight and strategizes a way to balance family life and work. In her traditionally white and long train wedding dress, the most handsome man stood in front of her, rallying his hands over her waist. He locked his tongue into hers, giving her a passionate kiss. “Thank you for officially accepting the call into the Shun's family. My love for you knows no bounds.” Grey confessed, and their tongues were locked into each other again. Gently landing her on the new sofa, specially bought and dressed with new bed sheets for their wedding night, he unhooked the wedding dress and all her inners, revealing the captivating figure eight that has been getting all men's attention in skirts. That was the sweetest and the only best day Lila can talk of when it comes to her marriage with Grey. As the good wife that she is, Lila woke up as early as five o’clock and made her first breakfast for Shun's family before she left for work. Even though it was not ideal that she resumes back to work a day after her wedding, she decided to keep some things in order before she leaves for her honeymoon a week after, coupled with the promotion Grey was pursuing. Less than four hours after she left, she received a call from her husband, "Lila, love, please, I need you to be at the hospital. My mother has been admitted.” “How? But she was fine before we both left the house.” Before she finished talking, Grey had already hung up the call and texted her the address of the hospital. Lila obtained permission from work and rushed to the hospital. “Good morning, please. I'm here to see one Mrs. Shun that was brought in this afternoon. I'm her daughter-in-law.” Lila explained to the receptionist with her heart panting like one who just won a 400-metre race. “She's in room three of the first ward by your left as you move straight.” The receptionist responded. Lila hurried off to the said room, where she made Ann seated at the door. “Ann, what happened to her, please? I had to rush down here when Grey informed me of her admission.” "Mtcheeew,” Ann hissed at her without giving any response. Ann's action stunned Lila as she thought for a while. “Why would she hiss when I only asked her about her mother's health?” Lila ignored the annoying attitude Ann was displaying and stepped forward to see her mother-in-law. “Stop right there!” Ann shouted. “You witch! Where do you think you're going? By the way, who even invited you here?” In bewilderment, Lila asked, “Ann, are you okay at all? Where is all this coming from? Do you even realise the person you're talking to?” “Oh, you thought I'm not okay, right? Just pray that nothing happens to my mother; if not, I'll show you the real display that I'm not okay.” “And if I were you, I would start saying my last prayers because this grave you're digging, you'll surely mark yourself present there.” Ann added. Lila’s heart was burning with anger already. She searched through her memory to recall any incident that might have gotten her sister-in-law angry, but didn't find any. They were all fine in the morning before she left for work. The pain of those horrible words from her sister in-law just a day after her wedding drained her happiness, making her drive back home in tears. Lila regretted responding to her husband's call to go to the hospital. A mission she wasn't able to accomplish, but ended up being insulted and accused of what she couldn't tell. But the irony that stunned her the most was the fact that the same people that begged her to fast forward her marriage were the same people now calling her a witch in less than twenty four hours that she has spent with them. “Why is your face looking so pale, like someone who was swimming in tears?” Grey asked his wife, who was seated on the sofa in their master bedroom with a wet handkerchief on her folded arms. Her eyes were red and puffy because of crying. Before she could say a word of reply to her husband, the door flung open without a knock. “Oh, why are you silent? Do you need help answering your husband now? Well, since you can't talk, I'll help you out! Besides, I know that no matter how shameless you could be, you can never relate this issue to him.” Ann said. “Enough!” Grey shouted. “Ann, I know you are my elder sister, but that doesn't guarantee you to come into my bedroom without knocking, and let this be the first and last time you'll ever talk to my wife in such a manner. He drew closer to his wife, who was mute like a newborn baby, and sat by her side. He rested her head upon his shoulders and, rallying one of his hands around her waist, gently wiped the dripping tears off her cheeks and gave her a ducet kiss on the forehead. “Oh, what a pity! If only you knew that the woman you're shamelessly portraying as your wife is the reason behind your mother's admission to the hospital.” Ann exclaimed and hissed as she left the room and slammed the door on the couple. “Ann! Come back here and finish your explanation.” Grey shouted, running after her down the stairs. “Oh, I almost thought that the little witch has brainwashed you already, but thank God, you still have some little sense left.” Ann answered. “Ann, I know you're my elder sister but can you please attach some respect to me and my wife? Even if you won't respect my wife, you have to respect the fact that I'm the man of this house.” Grey shouted back at her. “Now, tell me, What is the meaning of those horrible words you said up there?” He added. “She hasn't said enough! In fact, Ann, my dear, this is the perfect time to complete those statements and say it exactly the way you want.” A feminine voice echoed from the passage that connects to the living room.
