Thirteen

It was chaos already, not that I was really expecting anything else to happen when I agreed to this plan that AlphaKane made me agree to. It was really hard for me not to agree at the end of the day because I had an ultimate goal as well, which was to redeem myself and make sure that Jack realizes what he has lost power on. Right now it had only been a few minutes since I arrived, very close to it being an hour, but the whole place had been shaken up and everything had been turned upside down.

That's exactly how it felt like and at the moment I was in my old room looking through my things because I had to pack everything up and move to a different room. I was going to get the opportunity to choose a lady in waiting for myself as the Luna of our pack always got to have a personal assistant for herself and a part of me was really very curious about something. What if I chose Charlotte? She would absolutely have no way of saying no.

I could tell her to be my right-hand woman and she would have absolutely no choice. Well, it was more of a personal servant than a right-hand woman. All I know is that she truly did not have a choice but to agree, especially seeing as she was not the daughter of a high-ranking wolf.

She was only the daughter of a warrior that was very important in our pack. That was the only reason that she was this lucky. It was the only reason that she had not been kicked away from the dining room when she was dining with the high-ranking wolves.

Right as I picked up my diary, I immediately felt like laughing. I already knew what I was going to find in here was going to terribly embarrassing because lots of entries had everything to do with Jack. It was all about Jack and how much I loved him.

Thinking about it right now made me feel so pathetic because it was really nothing like how I felt right now. If anything, I was the one that was under some kind of spell and I had no idea who had put me under that spell. I always thought it was the and even before we established our mate bond, I always blamed it for that but clearly it had to be something else.

I had long had a fascination with Jack and right now I could not even think of one thing that I saw in him. I grabbed my diary and decided that I would come back for everything later. I was too eager to see the room that I would be sharing with Alpha Kane as he had already told us it would be the case.

I needed to see how it was going to work at night. Were we going to have enough space in between us on that bed since we were not really trying to have a real relationship anyway. I stepped out of the room only to be surprised by the last face I was expecting to see.

What was Charlotte doing outside my room? I thought to myself as soon as I laid my eyes on her, she definitely did not look happy at all. She looked at me with anger in her eyes which she quickly tried to disguise by flicking her hair back and crossing her arms over her chest.

“So how did you meet him again? Why is he doing this for you?” She asked me and I really could not believe that she had the audacity to do such a thing.

“Watch how you speak to your Luna, Charlotte.” I reminded her and she smiled at me softly before she bowed her head very slightly.

“ Right, I forget.

I'm just used to you being, I don't know, not of importance at all?” she said to me and I slowly smirked at her before I crossed my arms over my chest as well. We were just about the same height so even with my short heels I could stare at her straight in the eyes without tilting my head at all.

“Well, you're going to have to get used to a lot of things, Charlotte.

You are going to be the Luna's personal servant, my lady-in-waiting”, I said to her with a smirk on my face and her eyebrows immediately arched.

“What are you talking about? You can't do that to me. I am going to college next year with Jack”, she said to me and I quickly shrugged my shoulders.

“Well, I didn't know what you were supposed to do but the rules clearly state that whoever I appoint as long as they are not part of the high rank cannot say no to me”. I said to her and she quickly laughed to herself.

“You are very boastful and proud for someone that has not been placed as the Luna yet.

You don't even know if you will even get to that point,” she said to me and I shrugged my shoulders quickly at her. “Well, I am very confident and I can tell you that I will get to that point. Do you want to wait and see?” I asked her and I could definitely see her face turning into a quick frown.

She must have not expected this.

“And all the lies you were saying about me.You better retract every single thing that you said.” I said to her and she quickly shook her head.

“That is not happening because they are not lies!You will not get in between me and Jack. I am going to be the beta’s wife which means I'll be part of the high rank and you cannot tell me to become your personal maid!

That is the spot I have been born for. My father worked very hard to make sure that I would have a good life and you're not going to throw away his life's work just like that.” She said to me and I could definitely see it in her eyes that she was being very serious right now.

She really did believe that she deserved that position. Well, it was very unfortunate that every single time I looked at her in the eyes, all that I remembered was the suffering that she put me through in high school. It had not been long at all since those days and since we did graduate from high school she had continued to hound me and not only that she had continued to sleep with my boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend now, my mate.

That kind of betrayal did not deserve forgiveness at all. Not with the kind of heart that I felt I had right now.

“Why did you do it? Why did you have to torture me so much through those years? Didn't you have everything that you wanted already Charlotte?” I asked her.

I'm really curious right now but she did not appear to want to give me an honest answer. I could just see it in her eyes. I could just see it in the way that she was looking at me.

She did not want to be honest with me at all and I was really looking for an honest answer. Nothing else, nothing short of that at all.

“I mean, because just unlike you, I am a real wolf. Unlike everyone else that is showing you mercy.

I don't know what had gotten into Alpha Nile and whatever has gotten into Alpha Kane now. You have placed them under some kind of spell but I'm a real wolf and I'm averse to witches like you. So just by virtue of what you are, I had to do what I had to do.”

I could not believe what she was saying to me right now but I was glad it was over soon. Alpha Kane was behind her and a smile quickly formed on my face.
