Chapter Twelve

Twelve: “It’s unfortunate, because I’m hooked”

I did not even know how to feel. There was a surge of emotions just flowing through my entire body. Every single nerve of mine was right at the surface of my skin and with every single part of me that he touched it felt like all my senses were extra strong.

Everything was heightened and my skin was extra sensitive more than it usually was. It felt good. I would be lying to myself if I said I wanted to stop even when I did pull away.

I had no idea why I had done so so quickly but as he tried to pull me back we were quickly interrupted as Jack came running towards us.

“What is going on here?” He yelled out loud and finally made it to the top where we were. Everyone watching was looking very astonished right now.

I mean I would definitely be astonished if I was in that position. It was me. The one rumored to be half witch.

The one that the entire city wanted dead right now and here I was being declared as the loon. I definitely understood their shock and their murmurs of complaint. Jack quickly grabbed my hand and immediately Alpha Kane stood in front of me and directed his gaze at Jack.

“Let her go.” He immediately said to her and Jack quickly let go of me before raising his hands up in mock surrender. “What are you doing Alpha Kane? This is not right!” he said to him and I really could not help but stare in absolute shock.

I had definitely never seen Jack being this worked up about me. It had never happened. He had never cared to ever show interest or even fight over me.

“As your right hand, Alpha Kane I have to be of good advice to you. She is half witch. The entire city wants her dead.

This is bad for your reign. You must not get with her. It is not too late to change what you just said right now.

It could have all been a joke. Just tell them you found her and you sentence her to-“

“Watch your mouth!”

Alpha Kane stopped Jack from continuing what he was saying.

“You have not even been appointed as my right hand, it’s too early to be so forward, Jack!” Alpha Kane surely reminded him. I could see his frown deepening.

I did not understand him right now. Was he really grabbing me because he hated me again? His touch felt cold.

Colder than it usually was. There was always something strange about when he touched me. I always felt like something was missing but this time around there was absolutely nothing for me to feel.

It just felt absolutely cold which is not how mates were supposed to feel around each other.

“She's not yours, Alpha Kane. I don't know where you got the idea that she's your mate but she's not your mate.

I need to remind you that you have not found your own mate.” Jack insisted and Alpha Kane smirked at him before he reached for my hand again intertwining our fingers. I could see Jack's jaw clenching and his hands balling into fists at his sides as he watched the two of us getting closer.

Yes, I nestled myself into his side and he wrapped his arm around me. It felt safer in his arms and it was really pleasing to see Jack's anger grow. Was it really happening? Was all that had to happen for me to be with somebody else and suddenly he would show a side of him that cares? Charlotte made it behind him and she crossed her arms over her chest in front of me.

“What is going on here Jack? Why are you here?” He definitely did not even turn to look at her. Jack's eyes were fixed on me and I could not even describe that look that he held.

“ Alpha Kane, do you know that it is punishable by a curse if you lie about who your mate is? The moon goddess would be very displeased by such behavior.

It is beneath you,” Jack said to Alpha Kane and I could not help but laugh internally. What a hypocrite he was being.

“That's really rich coming from you, don’t you think?”

Alpha Kane responded, arching his brows at him.

“If I have been indeed cursed, it has to be by her.” He turned to face me before looking at Jack again.

“If the reason I like her is because she's half witch and she has put me under some kind of spell then it is very unfortunate because I am hooked and I don't think I will ever stop being hooked.” Alpha Kane insisted and I really could not take the tension.

Hearing those words coming from him, I just felt like blushing, even if they were not real things, what he was saying.

Unfortunately, I had to suppress everything because Charlotte was right in front of me too and I had not mastered the art of being able to stand up to her.

Everything was all too much. There was Charlotte's face angry looking and she definitely looked like she wanted to grab me by the hair right now and toss me across the entire stage. Then there was the crowd beneath us.

Everyone was looking at me with so much hatred. They could not voice it. They could not say it out loud or show it too much but I could see right through their pretentious looks.

They must have believed in one thing that I had put some kind of spell over their alpha and that is the only reason I was standing right here before them but at the same time his word was final no matter what so they could not hurt me. Otherwise I was pretty sure that everyone would have ran towards me grabbed me and performed brutal mob justice with me.

“ Let's go talk inside.

This is too much. We can't make a scene here”. I said to everyone and they all just ignored me.

The conversation was definitely too heated right now and I really could not take it without listening to what everyone else had to say. I quickly turned around pulled my hand away from Alpha Kane's grip and walked away from him. Every single step that I took I realized just how everyone felt about me.

The pathway opened very widely. The closer I got to everyone the further they got away from me. It was like I was in a scenic movie and I just so happened to be such a feared guard that they had to keep opening the way for me that way.

It felt strange and I really did not like it but I just wanted to get away from all the tension. Yes it was really more exhausting than I thought it would be to have to be determined enough to get this revenge. At least this was a good beginning.

I walked into the house and I was less than pleased to see the person I did not want to see the most. I just had to run into Jack's father who is no longer in Alpha as of today. He was only a stand-in Alpha and he surely acted like he had greater rights than a stand-in Alpha should ever have.

“What are you doing here? What did you do to the Alpha? Where did you even find him, you little witch? And you placed some kind of spell on him didn't you? I finally have to kill you this time around!” He said to me before he grabbed me by my wrist, squeezing hard.

“ Let me go.” I said to him struggling and soon the doors flew open.

“Let her go!” both of them said. My eyes stuttered behind me and there they were. It was indeed Alpha Kane and Jack standing right next to each other.

Charlotte stood behind them with her arms crossed over her chest. I could see her eyes rolling and her frown deepening.
