Chapter Two

Two: "The moon goddess has never made a bigger mistake"

I stood in front of the bedroom door like a statue, tears pooling in my eyes the more I watched. I was speechless. None of this made any sense to me.

"Jack?" I mouthed, barely audible. There was no way that he would have been able to hear me with that witch moaning into his ear and with the sound of their skin slapping together.

They did not even bother to cover themselves. I could see... EVERYTHING.

"Gosh! I am so close, Jack!" Charlotte screamed before her head tilted to the side and our eyes met. She was shocked, but that only lasted a second before she smirked.

How I hated seeing that smirk. I was immediately reminded of the last time that she smirked at me like that. It was during the last week of high school, after she found my journal and stuck pages of it all over the school. Everyone read my deepest, darkest thoughts, together with many that she had crafted on her own. I got disciplinary hearing and would have been expelled had it not been the very last day of high school. She had written about one of our teachers and how I would like to have s*x with him. On top of that, she lied about me being glad Alpha Nile had died. That was the most hurtful, because my life sucked the day he left me.

"Don't f**k me like you're f*****g your little w***e you call a mate! f**k me like you want to!" She moaned out, her eyes still fixed on mine.

"What the f**k are you talking about? Don't mention her unless you want this erection to die!" He remarked and the tears I was holding back finally fell, staining my cheeks. I ran a hand over my cheeks, wiping away the makeup I had put so much effort into wearing tonight.

"Why would it die? She still disgusts you that much?" She asked out loud, obviously wanting me to hear everything. There was no need for her to shout though, everything was loud and clear and the noises would definitely haunt me for a lifetime.

"I can't stand her! She thinks I'm going to have s*x with her tonight, but I will never touch her. The moon goddess has never made a bigger mistake!" Jack's words hurt more than what he was currently doing.

I could not take it anymore. My voice cracked and a sob came out.

"Why are you doing this tobme, Jack? Why?" I sniffled, wiping my tears from my face before I walked into the room.

"For fucksake!" He cussed, turning around and getting off Charlotte.

"Oh no! Paige?" Charlotte feigned surprise by parting her lips and closing her thighs. It was too late. I had seen it all. I had seen Jack fully naked now and I was not even slightly aroused like I thought I would be. It was revolting.

"Cover yourself, Char!" He was only concerned about throwing a sheet over Charlotte's naked body before he claimed off the bed and picked his underwear up from the floor and put it on.

I was watching with hurt and disgust as he crossed his arms over his chest and looked at me with a grimaced face.

"How could you? I was ready to give myself to you tonight. I was going to give you my virginity!" I sobbed and my eyes darted to Charlotte when she began clapping her hands.

"Round of applause for you Jack! I mean, come on. You kept it going for two years, it's time to tell her the truth." Charlotte's words had me staring at Jack with astonishment.

"what is she talking about?" I asked him with a cracking voice. I wanted to slap him, I wanted to hit him hard but I could not even imagine getting close to him right now.

"You were going to give me your virginity? Like it's some prize to be won? Look at you and your basic body! Even if I was interested in staining my perfect werewolf DNA with your cursed witch blood, you don't even look good enough to tempt me."

I would have assumed he was lying had he not been looking at me straight in the eyes.

"You're lying! You love me. We love each other. Our mate bond-"

"Doesn't exist anymore." He quickly interjected.

"I reject you, Paige Willey as my mate. Get out!" His words stung, hard. It felt like my heart was going to jump straight out of my chest.

"No!" I cried out. The burning sensation in my chest had spread to my entire body as I watched the man I called the love of my life reject me like I mean nothing at all to him.

"I didn't go to college for you! I was waiting for us to go together once you got less busy. I took the training classes you told me to take so I could be the best wife for you! What was that for?" I demanded, the sobs in between nearly making it impossible for me to speak.

" To distract you. To spend less time with you. I don't like you, Paige, never have, never will." He responded without an ounce of remorse in his eyes.

"Babe, come back inside me already, I didn't finish." Charlotte said with puckered lips and a thin, babylike voice. I wanted to grab her hair and yank it off her head, but the real me would never. It could only ever be a fantasy to stand up to her like that.

"You know what? I am done, Jack! You can forget about me!" I said to him with a stern voice.

He immediately laughed in my face, turning to Charlotte and inviting her to laugh with him.

"I highly doubt it! You will be back. You are like a love sick puppy that I just can't get rid of." They laughed in my face again.

Was it really true? My mind immediately drifted off to the first and only time that I ever doubted Jack's love for me.

It was the first time that I made breakfast for him. He spilled his food into the bin and told me he hated them. That was a day after my eighteenth birthday and I promised to learn how to give him everything he wants. He had never done that again.

Had the signs been in my face all along and I was just too desperate for him to love me to even notice it?

"No, I won't be back this time. You will never see me again! Then we will see how many votes you can get to be our beta!" I wiped the rest of my tears and picked up the flowers I had brought with me, throwing them at him.

"Never threaten me again, Paige! It's not like you have anyone else to turn to. You'll be back here, right where I need you." He said before laughing With Charlotte again.

"You are smarter than I thought though. How did you figure out that I am only with you because I need a mate to be elected as the beta when Kane comes back?" He questioned and I swallowed the hard lump in my chest. I had been used. Two years of my life that revolved around him, all a waste!

"Now, you can stay and watch or get the f**k out. I didn't get to finish!" He kept it brief before he pulled Charlotte to the edge of the bed and got down on his knees to kiss her thighs.

I made a promise to myself right then and there. I would leave, go far away and start a new life without him. He will never see me again.
