Chapter Ten

Ten: "Do you know the amount of danger you're in right now?"

I don't know if it was the temperature of the room that was the problem, but that seemed unlikely because wolves were naturally good with regulating their body temperature.

The lack of familiarity with the bedroom had also been crossed out because I had gotten the best sleep of my life these past three nights.

I only had to conclude one thing. The reason I could not sleep right now was because one thing was missing and that one thing was him.

I could not stop thinking about what he could possibly be doing and why he was not spending the night with me tonight. He promised to keep me close and safe if I just trusted him to be by my side, so why was he not here right now?

I turned to my other side smf got a perfect view of the shut bedroom door. I almost counted seconds while I waited for him to make an appearance.

"You know you want to look for him, just do it!" I said out loud. There were a few reasons for me not to listen to myself right now but I could not even consider one as being enough to actually not go out there.

I stepped out of the bed and grabbed the matching robe to my pink silk night dress that we had bought just today.

Walking towards the door, I sucked in a breath before I slowly grabbed the lock and pulled the door open.

I waited and listened for him before I proceeded to close the door quietly and take a stroll through the hallway upstairs.

I expected to find him sleeping in one of the bedrooms, but I was wrong. He wad definitely not deciding to take a different room without even telling me.

Next up, I had to check downstairs. I took my slides off snd held them in my hands before I took very slow and calculated steps down the stairs.

I knew there was no point trying to be this silent because if he really wanted to, and if he was close enough, he could definitely hear me.

After years of training, his senses had to be better than most of ours and hearing was no exception.

I made it downstairs and looked around until I was confident that I had searched the entire space. He was not here. He was gone.

"You left me?" I asked with my lips trembling. For some odd reason, I couldn't help but get emotional at the mere thought of it even.

I quickly took a few deep breaths before I looked at my reflection in the full body mirror in the living room.

"You are fine without him. Don't you feel like you need anyone, ever!" I tried convincing myself that it did not matter, but it still hurt.

We were going back to that place in a few hours and this already proved to be I just for fragile I definitely still was.

I could not let that be my reality!

I smiled at myself slowly before I walked towards the door and pushed it to the side.

I walked out, welcoming the breeze from the chilly night.

It was quite refreshing, the cool air and the sound of distant howls.

I stared at the stars and the moon. It would be a full moon tomorrow, the perfect time for Alpha Kane to make his return to his homelands, assert his power and finally take over.

Suddenly, I heard a noise coming from the bushes ahead. The house was located right at the end of a large forest, the biggest hunting grounds. I never feared the forest when I looked at it during our long drives to go shopping and eating but suddenly it looked so threatening.

I stared at the trees for a few minute before concluding that it was just a false alarm.

Looking at the stars always made me think of my parents in a positive way, because every other time I thought about them, only negative thoughts came to mind.

Maybe they were happily watching down on me, proud of the woman that I was becoming. It felt like there was nothing for them to be proud of most days but looking at the stars made me think differently and remember how unconditional their love really was.

My smile quickly faded before I felt all my blood being flushed from my face. A wolf came sprinting from out the woods. A big, black wolf came speeding towards the porch and by the time that I let out a scream for help and stood up to run back inside, it was all too late.

"No, please!" it looked so much like the black wolf from my dreams. The gold streaks in its fur that brushed past me as it backed me into the wall. I was terrified and frozen from the horror of it all.

"Please, I'm begging you!" I pleaded, begging for my life. Deja vu is all it was. Why did this have to happen to me again?

The more I looked into it's eyes, the more terrifying it all felt.

It ran a cold tongue over me before pinning me down, forcing me to slide down till I was sitting on my butt.

It had to be an Alpha, or a beta with how huge it was. The tears welled in my eyes as it let out growls against my skin.

"Just take me! I'm happy to meet my parents again! Just kill me and stop taunting me!" I yelled out ad I squeezed my eyes shut. If dying tonight wad my destiny then I would welcome it.

Suddenly, I didn't feel the fur against my skin anymore and the imposing shadow that I could see through my closed eyes vanished.

Slowly, I opened my eyes, nibbling hard on my bottom lip ad I mustered the courage to face the situation.

My eyes immediately widened and a gasp left my mouth. The first thing I saw was a rock hard p***s right in front of me. It was huge, and it made me freeze for a second before my gaze finally moved up.

"What are you doing out here? Didn't I tell you to sleep?" Alpha Kane asked me as I looked up at his tall frame that was hovering over me.

"I... I.." I couldn't really say anything. My eyes immediately moved down again, and not because he was offering me his hand to take.

I hesitated only for a few seconds before I took his hand and he helped me up. He was fully naked in front of me, I could not believe it.

Why was it.... hard? Wasn't it supposed to only be hard when....

I screamed internally as my stomach knotted together. The feeling of his hand against mine and his scent, it made me feel so strange.

"I told you to sleep, you were supposed to be in that room where I can't even smell you. Do you know what you do to me, Paige? Do you know the amount of danger you're in right now?" He asked me as he inched closer. I was pinned to the wall again as he moved closer, till our bodies were touching.

I squeezed my thighs together as I felt... it... poking me.

" Why am I in danger? "I still dared to ask, even though I doubted the answer would be easy for me to handle.
