Chapter 3 Uncertainty -Abby- I was in the middle of tossing my clothes onto the huge pile on the floor when Genna called me. "Hey, did you hear it on the news?", she hurriedly said before I was able to ask her why she called. "Wait what?", I asked while I put my phone on speaker. "Your boss! Your boss got into an accident last night! Said he was drunk that he rear ended someone and hit the freeway wall!", she was now saying in a high pitched tone. "What?! Hold on let me check it online...oh my god!", I exclaimed. I could not believe it. Cade never drove himself. He has his own driver. I wonder what happened. I did get it confirmed on the news. I talked to Genna for a bit before I hung up. I started to get some text messages from a few of my coworkers that I worked with most of the time. I replied that I didn't have much information, and said that I would be on stand by for updates. I haven't heard anything from the executives over the weekend. I reported to work as it is, came Monday. I got called to the COO's office by 8:30am. I was instructed to report to him while they were figuring out their next course of action. Three months have passed, and I still haven't heard from Mr. Montgomery. Our office have been tight-lipped about the real situation of Mr. Montgomery, and hasn't divulged anything to the media. Today would be the start of the fourth month since Cade's accident. I got in early today to prepare some presentations for the board meeting. I was called to the COO's office after the board meeting. "Miss Jacobs, the new direction would be for you to work at the Montgomery Villa starting tomorrow. Mr. Montgomery would like you to bring all the necessary documents and tools to make this possible. I would like you to know that Mr. Montgomery has some vision impairments from the accident, so you might want to find ways to work remotely while considering the limitations of Mr. Montgomery", Mr. Smith explained. I was taking all this information in but it still hasn't sinked in yet to me what the new direction entails. I will be working with a blind man. While I feel sorry about Cade's situation, I also can't help to think of how difficult this task will be. I haven't worked with a blind man in the past. I've always been extra helpful to people with disabilities, but I know that it would take a lot of patience and understanding when assisting them. I got out of the office feeling restless as I didn't know what I would expect tomorrow. I started to prepare some of the documents that needed to be reviewed. I gather I would be dictating all the words to my boss. I settled on the fact that what happens, happens, and I will do what it takes to get the job done. I got out of the office by 5pm. I planned to have the driver pick me up at 7am tomorrow to pick up the stuff I will be bringing to my boss' home.
