Mama Kana

Chapter 6

“Jacob, did your ‘Mama Kana’ get angry because of what we did? What did he say?” Mew asked his son. They’re inside Jacob’s room and he’s helping his son to finish his assignments.

Jacob looked up at him and smiled widely. “Mama Kana is not angry, Dada. Mama Kana said that as long as I’m happy, there’s no reason to be mad.”

“He didn’t ask why you give him the shirt?”

“Mama asked. But I tell him that I gave it to him because he’s like a real Mama. He’s very nice to me and loves me like my real Mom. And I love my Mama Kana very much.” Jacob said and smiled at his Dada who’s listening while smiling at him.

“You really love your Mama Kana, huh?” Mew pinched his son’s cheeks.

“I really love my Mama Kana just like how much I love you, Dada. Every time I’m with Mama Kana, I feel that I have a Mama.”

Mew feels sad and happy at the same time for his adopted son. Sad because Mew feels that he’s not enough because every child deserves a complete family but he can’t give his son a Mom.

He can’t be with a woman. Yeah, he’s gay. But he can’t tell to his son for now. But someday, he will tell Jacob who he really is.

“Are you sad because you don’t have a Mama? Dada is very sorry, Jacob.” Mew pats his son’s head.

“Why would I be sad. I’m very thankful to you, Dada. You adopted me so I have a family now. I have you, Grandma, and Grandpa. And now, I even have my Mama Kana. I’m very happy. And I love you, Dada.” Jacob kissed his father’s cheek and hugged him.

Mew told Jacob that he’s adopted. He thought that it would be better if they tell that to Jacob so he will know who he really is. And they don’t want any conflict or issues about Jacob being adopted. And most especially, he doesn’t want Jacob to know it from the other people.

“Thank you for understanding, my son,” Mew said and kiss his son’s forehead.

He didn’t regret adopting Jacob even for a second. The moment he laid his eyes on the baby, he knew right away that he wants him to be his son. He adopted him and named him Jacob. Jacob brings happiness to their home.

In the past, he, his mother, and his father only live at the very big mansion because he doesn’t have any other siblings. But when Jacob came into their lives, their home was filled with more happiness.

“Dada, is it okay with you if I call Teacher Kana my Mama Kana?” Jacob asked him.

“If you want to address him as your Mama Kana, then it’s fine with me. But is it fine for him?” It really doesn’t bother Mew if Jacob calls his teacher Mama Kana. It just feels normal for him. And he doesn’t know the reason why.

When he first saw Kana, he feels familiar to him. The glow of his eyes looks familiar. It seems like he already met him in the past. There’s a strangely familiar feeling inside him but he ignored it because he even doesn’t know what is it.

“Mama Kana said it’s fine. And I’m the only one that gets to call him Mama Kana and I love it. It makes me feel that I’m special for him, Dada.” Jacob told him with sparkling eyes.

“You are indeed special. You’re the only one who’s allowed to call your teacher Mama Kana and that’s a very special thing.”

After talking about Jacob’s ‘Mama Kana’ who’s Kana, they continued doing Jacob’s homework.

And they already talked about him fetching Jacob to school tomorrow because he won’t be busy for the whole day and will come home early.

Jacob is very excited because it’s the first time his Dada will fetch him to school. And Mew is excited, too.

There’s a part of him that feels excitement because he can see Jacob’s so-called Mama Kana again. He can see the adorable doe-eyed again. It’s his eyes that caught his attention. It feels like he can stare at those beautiful orbs forever without getting bored.
