Mama Kana

Chapter 7

“Mama Kana, Dada is going to fetch me today! I’m very happy!” Jacob excitedly said to his Mama Kana.

Their class ended just now meaning that he can call his teacher Mama Kana. And his Dada will fetch him!

“I can see that you’re very happy, Jacob. You have more energy in doing our activities earlier. And I’m happy for you because your Dada will finally fetch you to school.” Kana said and messed Jacob’s hair.

Jacob hugs him and kisses him on the cheek. That’s the scenery Mew saw when he entered the school. And it warms his heart.

Jacob saw his father and he ran to him. Mew picked him up and Jacob pointed to Kana.

“Dada, let’s say goodbye to Mama Kana.”

“All right. And I’m going to apologize because of what you did.”

He walked towards the direction of Kana who’s packing his things and getting ready to go home.

“Hey, Kana. I’m sorry for what Jacob did. He insisted to buy it and I can’t say no when he said that he wants to give one to you. I’m really sorry.” Mew slightly bows his head.

“It’s okay. If Jacob insists, then it’s all right. I just want my baby to be happy. It’s fine with me as long as he’s happy.” Kana said and smiled at them to show that it’s really fine.

‘Why do I feel like he’s the Mama of my son by the way he calls Jacob as his baby? And why I’m so happy with that thought?’ Mew said at the back of his head.

“Are you going home now?” Mew asked Kana.

“Yeah. I just need to check the doors and windows to make sure that all are securely locked then I’m going home.” Kana answered.

“Do you mind if we’ll drop you home?” Mew asked because he didn’t see a car in the parking space so he thought that Kana doesn’t own a car.

“No, I’m fine. I can go home. I won’t bother you.” Kana politely refused the kindness of Mew.

“It’s really fine with me. And it’s not a big deal. We won’t go anywhere after I fetch Jacob so why not drop you home?” Mew reasoned out.

‘Reasons. Just say that you want to be with him for a while and know his house,’ teased the tiny voice on his mind.

“If you insist then all right. I won’t be going anywhere after this. I’ll just check the locks then we’re good to go.” Mew just nodded and talked to Jacob while waiting for Kana.

“I’m already done,” Kana said when he reached the father and son.

“Okay, let’s go. Jacob, we’ll drop your teacher at his house first, all right? Then we’ll go home.”

“Okay, Dada. Mama Kana, can you carry me?” Jacob made a grabby hand to his Mama Kana and his Mama take him from his father’s arms after getting permission from Mew.

They walked towards the car side by side and Mew even opened the door for him. And he got a blushing Kana Kana.

Mew smiled seeing the blush crept from Kana’s cheeks to his ears. ‘So I have that effect, huh?’

Jacob stayed at his Mama Kana’s lap and talking animatedly for the whole trip to Kana’s home. Jacob sometimes includes Mew in their conversation but it’s mostly the two doing the talks.

And Mew just thought, ‘Why do I feel that I’m the third wheel between them?’

But he’s not complaining. He’s happy because his son is very close to his ‘Mama Kana’ and can talk without hesitating.

When they reached Kana’s house, Kana invited them to stay for a little bit so he can prepare snacks for them to thank them for dropping him home. And Mew gladly accepted the invitation.

While making snacks, Mew just sits in the living room with Jacob who’s playing with the stuffed toys his Mama Kana permits him to play with.

Kana baked cookies, brewed coffee, and make hot chocolate for Jacob. When he’s done, Mew helped him to carry the tray.

While eating, Mew and Kana talked while Jacob is happily munching the cookies his Mama Kana baked.

“You live alone here?” Mew asked and Kana looked at him and nods his head. “Where are your parents?” Mew just continued asking.

“I’m an orphan since I was 14 years old. They died because of a car accident. My Grandma took care of me but she passed away when I was 19. I don’t have any siblings so basically I’m alone. I have 2 friends and they just came here yesterday night. They are also the teachers at the school.” Kana told Mew to answer his question.

“I’m sorry to hear about your family. You own the school, am I right?”

“Yes. And my best friends also invested and that makes them part owners.”

Mew hesitated if he’ll continue asking what’s on his mind or not because he thought that it can offend or make Kana uncomfortable.

In the end, he just asked with hesitation. “I just want to ask one thing.”

“Ask me anything,” Kana replied and smiled to reassure Mew that whatever he’s going to ask is fine with him.

“What’s your s****l orientation? I’m sorry for asking,” Mew bows his head after asking the question.

“Oh, that. It’s not really a secret. I’m actually gay. But rest assured that it won’t affect my teaching skills towards the children. And I won’t be a bad influence to them.”

That’s exactly what Mew observed. Kana’s voice is very soft and it’s a pleasant sound. It feels like even if he’s just talking, he’s singing you a lullaby.

“It’s not a big deal for me. I’m also but Jacob doesn’t know it until now. You know, he still wouldn’t understand that topic. But I’ll tell him to him at the right time.” They smiled at each other. They think that they can be comfortable with each other because they have the same s****l preference.

After eating the snacks Kana prepared Mew and Jacob bid goodbye to Kana.

“Goodbye, Mama Kana. See you tomorrow. I love you,” Jacob said while hugging his Mama Kana and kiss his cheek. Kana returned the action and kissed Jacob on his forehead.

“Thank you for driving me home,” Kana said to Mew.

“It’s no big deal. And thank you for the snacks. It’s delicious. Let’s go, Jacob. Your Mama Kana needs to rest

Mew doesn’t believe in love at first sight before but now he believes that such a thing exists. He indeed falls in love when he first saw Jacob’s Mama Kana.

He felt it once with a person in his past. His childhood friend who he can’t remember the name.

‘Why is my heart beating so fast when I saw him?’ Kana thought.

‘Do I have a chance on him?’ Mew questioned.
