Chapter 8

‘“Look who’s smiling like an idiot.” Mew looked up and saw the owner of the voice. It’s his best friend, Jasper.

“What are you talking about? Who’s smiling?” Mew asked while frowning. He’s obviously unaware that he’s smiling.

“Maybe it’s me who’s smiling widely. It’s you who’s smiling like a man who’s deeply in love.” Jasper pointed out.

“I’m smiling?” Mew asked.

“Dude, you’re smiling creepily. Your eyes are even smiling. Are you already in love? Is it your son’s Mama Kana?”

Mew told Jasper about what happened last weekend but he didn’t tell him that the Mama Kana he’s talking about is actually a male. He lets him wonder and think.

“No, I’m not,” Mew answered Jasper.

“What exactly I’m not? Not changed in preference? Or not in love?” That silenced Mew.

“I’m not sure if I’m already in love.” Mew just answered him honestly.

“Oh. So the great Mew Peterson is having a hard time knowing if he’s in love.” Jasper continued to tease Mew.

“So you said you meet your son’s teacher. Is she pretty?” As usual, Jasper can’t stop his mouth and he asked because he’s curious.

“His Mama Kana is pretty and cute at the same time. His cheeks look fluffy that I want to squeeze them. And he has--” Jasper cut him off.

“Wait? He? But why Mama Kana? I’m confused. Don’t get me wrong for asking why. I’m just wondering,” Jasper said with a creased forehead.

“Jacob wants to call him Mama Kana and he said it’s all right. And he’s also gay like me.” Mew explained.

“So you have a crush on him? Don’t deny it to me, Mew. You’re smiling like a madman. And I’ll know it right away if you’re lying to me.”

“Okay. I’ll admit that I like him. But I don’t know if I have a chance. And he seems familiar to me. Like I already know him from the past.”

“What’s his real name?”

“Why are you asking? You’re interested?” Mew said while raising his eyebrows.

“Don’t get me wrong. I already have someone special. And don’t act like a possessive boyfriend. May I remind you that you’re not boyfriends? What a possessive man.” Jasper rolled his eyes.

“Don’t need to brag that you have a love life to a single man right here. And I’ll pursue him in any way I know.”

“So what’s his name? I’ll try to search him online to see for myself if he’s really cute and pretty.”

“Kana. Kana Martinez. A very cute name for a cute person like him.”

Jasper just listened to Mew while tapping and scrolling his phone. Searching for a Kana Kana Martinez on social media.

“Is it him?” Jasper showed Mew the profile of a Kana Kana he found.

Mew nodded. “He’s pretty and cute, right? I wonder how can a man be pretty and cute at the same time. Maybe he’s an angel.”

“You’re whipped. But what will you do to your promise to your childhood friend?” Jasper asked. He remembered what Mew told him years ago.

“I don’t know. I know I promised that I will only love him but I know that I can’t fulfill that. I finally found someone I love now.”

“Whatever it is, I’ll support you. We’ll support you in whatever you will do. But I wonder where is that childhood sweetheart of yours. Your life is complicated, you know? You can’t even remember his name.” Jasper scratches his not-itchy head.

“I can’t remember his name. But I remember his face. And he has a resemblance to Kana. And I felt the same feeling towards Kana that I only felt to my Childhood friend .”

“Is there any chance that he’s your Childhood friend ? You know, probably even 5 percent? Your life is complicated. You want me to call the gang?”

“Don’t bother. They will just tease me like what you’re doing now. And you don’t have any works to do?”

“I already called them the moment I arrived. You know, they also want to hear about the Mama Kana your son is talking about.”

As if on cue, the door of his office opened and 4 men walked in. Speaking of the devils.

“Hey, Mew. I heard that you already met your son’s Mama Kana,” Nikolai said when he sat on the chair in front of Mew.

“Is she pretty?” Andy asked and he received a smack on his head from Mark.

“Why are you so eager to know?” Mark asked while raising his eyebrow.

“Someone’s jealous,” Kadey said, pertaining to Mark. Kadey walked to his boyfriend, Jasper.

“So how’s your meeting with your son’s teacher?” Nikolai asked.

“It’s fine. I already know why Jacob is very attached to his Mama Kana. He’s nice and cute--” Mew was cut off when his friends suddenly interrupted in chorus. Well, except Jasper because he already knows the story.

“I thought it’s a she because Jacob always calls his teacher Mama Kana. It turns out it’s a he.” Kadey said.

“That’s exactly what I thought in the beginning. But his teacher is a he,” Mew said.

“How he looks?”

“He’s cute and pretty at the same time. And he’s really cute for a man. He has fluffy cheeks and I want to squeeze them. His eyes are the most wonderful eyes I’ve ever seen and he has plump lips.”

“Pretty much detailed, huh? Sure you paid attention to him. You sounded so in love. Are you already in love?” Andy asked him.

“It’s going there. He felt familiar to me. And I want to pursue him.

“Is he straight or not?” Mark asked.

“He said he’s gay. And he lives alone. He’s already an orphan and he’s the owner of Jacob’s school.”

“What about the familiar feeling? Care to share to us?” Kadey asked and Jasper explained to them afterward.

“Man, maybe he’s your childhood friend. Should we investigate?” Andy offered to him.

“No, it’s not needed. We can’t invade his privacy. I will know it myself.”

“Our Mew will have a love life soon. Should we celebrate? You can invite your Kana so we can know him.”

“He’s going to be creeped out, dudes. It’s just days since we’ve known each other. But we can invite him to join us for dinner at my house. So tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow.” Everyone agreed to Mew.

“So I’m going to be left behind now? All of you have your own love life and Mew will soon have. I’m the only one who’s single on this group!” Nikolai screamed exaggeratedly.
