Mama Kana

Chapter 4

“Mama Kana, Dada, let’s go to the swing.” Jacob holds his Dada and Mama Kana’s hand and walks towards the swing.

Kana sits on the swing and Jacob climbed to his lap. While the two are busy talking and swinging, Mew bought three ice creams. He gives it to Jacob and the other to Kana who uttered his thank you.

Jacob requested the picture of the three of them. They took selfies and the people walking in the park find it adorable. They look like a happy family. Some recognized Mew and some not.

A woman come near them and volunteered to take a picture with them. Mew gave her his phone and the lady took several pictures of them.

A picture where Jacob was being carried by Kana, Jacob hugging his Dada and Mama Kana, and Jacob kissing his Mama Kana’s cheek while Mew is looking at them with adoration. A picture where they look like a family.

“Where do you want to eat, Jacob?” Mew asked his son who’s clinging to Kana’s arm as if Kana will run away.

Jacob points at the famous restaurant. “I want to eat there, Dada.”

“Is it okay to you, Kana?” Mew asked his son’s teacher.

Kana nodded. “It’s okay, Sir. As long as this cute boy is happy.” He softly pinched Jacob’s soft cheeks.

“You can call me Mew. No need to be very formal.” Kana just smiled and nodded.

“What do you want to eat? I’ll order for us.” Mew asked the moment they found a table for them. Jacob and Kana pointed to the food they want to eat. Kana brings out his wallet and takes out the amount of money he needed to pay for his food but Mew didn’t take it.

“I insist. It’s my food and I want to pay for it.” Mew just shook his head and bring back the money to the hand of Kana.

“It’s my treat.” Mew walked to the counter after saying that.

After some time, Mew returned to their table with their food and drinks. He sat in front of Kana and Jacob.

Yeah, Jacob sticks with Kana. Making his father feel that he’s the third wheel on their own day. Mew was about to get his food when Jacob suddenly stopped him.

“Dada, we need to pray before eating. Right, Mama Kana?” Kana nodded and smiled because Jacob remembered those times in school where they pray together before eating.

Jacob held his Dada and Mama Kana’s hands and clasped them together. Heat begins to spread on Kana’s ears and cheeks because of the warmth he’s feeling from Mew’s hand that’s holding his other hand.

After praying, they dig into their food. Sometimes, Kana is helping Jacob to eat neatly. He would feed Jacob and wipe his mouth. And that made Mew smile.

After eating, they entered the department store, still with Kana because Jacob doesn’t want to let his Mama Kana go.

Mew let his son pick what he wants. Jacob picked toys and clothes with the help of his Dada and Mama Kana.

When Jacob spotted a cute family shirt, he smiled and a plan came up to his mind. He wants to wear the shirt. Together with his Dada and Mama Kana.

He called his Dada. “Dada, I want that shirt. Can we buy it?”

Mew looked at those shirts and the words printed on them caught his attention- ‘Dada’, ‘Mama’ and ‘Baby’- and he already know what’s running on his son’s mind.

Mew motioned his son to come closer to him and whispered, “To whom will you give the Mama shirt?” He asked as if he doesn’t know.

“I want to give it to Mama Kana, Dada. Is it all right? I want Mama Kana to wear the ‘Mama’ shirt “ Jacob covered his mouth and Mew’s ear, like telling a top-secret.

“How about we buy him something and just put the shirt inside the bag? Your Mama Kana will not accept it if we give it to him directly.” Mew suggested and his son happily nodded.

They bought the family shirt and a shirt for Kana. Mew insisted and just say that it’s a gift because he joined them. Kana just accepted it because he doesn’t have a choice. But he doesn’t know that Mew put the ‘Mama’ shirt inside.

“Mama Kana, thank you for joining us today. I’m happy because you go with us. Bye, Mama Kana. I love you.” Jacob said and kissed Kana’s cheek.

They already arrived at Kana’s house. They decided to go home after spending some time at the mall.

“I’m also happy, Jacob. Thank you for inviting me, Mew. I’ll get going, Jacob. I love you. Take care, Jacob, Mew.” Kana said and get out of Mew’s car. He waved them goodbye before entering his house.

When he entered his room, he put the shopping bag on his bed and take out the shirts to hang it in his closets.

Mew bought four shirts for him. Wait.

‘I remember it’s just 3 shirts.’

He quickly inspected the shirts and he found an unfamiliar shirt. He read the word written on the shirt and he’s confused why a shirt with a word ‘Mama’ will be on the shirts Mew bought for him.

He quickly called Mew to ask about the shirt. They exchanged numbers earlier.

“Hello, Mew. There’s a shirt with a print ‘Mama’ here. I think it’s mixed with the clothes you bought earlier.”

“No. Jacob insisted to give it to you. We have the family shirt and Jacob said that he wants to give you the ‘Mama’ shirt. Am I right, Jacob?”

“Yes, Dada. Mama Kana, I’m the one who insisted on buying the shirts. I love you, Mama Kana.” He heard the cute tiny voice of Jacob on the other line.

“Okay. Bye.” Kana blushed after knowing the truth behind the shirt that he only said two words.

‘But why Mew allowed Jacob to do that? Maybe he just wants Jacob to be happy.’ Kana thought at the back of his head.
