Kally's POV:
I lost the baby. You have no idea how happy I am about this. Kian didn't want to hear about it, but now he is history. He broke up with me, but I saw it coming. I should've ended things a long time ago. Let's say that I want to see how long this can last. I forced myself to give him a chance. It didn't work. We haven't talked since he left me. I see him around the town. Part of me feels sorry. The other one is regret. I wanted my first time to be with someone who cared and loved me. That didn't happen. Also, I had to deal with the consequences of it. I'm glad that this part of my life is over. I would love to date again, but it won't be soon. I'll focus on myself. Dating wasn't my best power. Maybe I have to wait a little bit. I don't want much, but you can't buy this with money. Probably, this is the reason why it's so hard to find. It's like a treasure box. When the time comes, he will appear. I believe in this. I hope that I don't have to wait too long.
Around two months have left until the end of the first university year. I didn't have many good things to brag about. My grades are high enough. I'm not a straight-A student, but it wasn't my intention either. I invited Addie at home with me. We are together almost every day. So far, she is the only friend I have. I can tell her everything. I know she won't judge me. There isn't a single thing that she doesn't know about me. We are like sisters from another mother.
- How are you today? I can see your good mood.
- Well, I'm trying to keep it like that.
- Good. All I want from you is to stop thinking about this i***t. He is not worth it.
- Sometimes, I see him outside.
- Is he talking to you?
- No. He acts like I don't exist.
- See? I think you should do the same. Ignore him.
- I'm trying my best. How are you? Something new?
- Not really. Same old things.
- We can do something together before I go to work.
- Why do you need a job? Your parents have good salaries.
- Yes, but I wanted to do something different.
- I hope this makes you feel good.
- So far, yes.
- I wish I could come to see you that often, but I can't stay without ordering something.
- You can drink water.
- Have you seen the price of it?
- Yes. That's why I bring my own. - I said, and we laughed
Talking with Addie is so easy. Maybe that is because both of us are crazy. We went to university together. Addie and I might be first graders, but she already likes an older student. The teacher came in fifteen minutes. Some of them come later, but who are we to judge them? The other thing is that I don't care about this.
- Hello, students. Today, we'll talk about the importance of building connections. That is a crucial aspect for everyone who will practice their career. There are a few things that you need to know.
- Boring. - Addie said
- At least pretend to listen to him.
- I will.
- You have been staring at this boy since the beginning of the year. It's not a crime to talk to him.
- I stare at his hair.
- What? Why?
- Look at it. That looks like it's made out of candy.
- You are crazy.
- Not more than you.
- Excuse me.
- You are not excused.
Sometimes, I don't understand Addie. When the class finished, we went to get drinks. Later, we went back to the university. I have a gap between classes. It'll take us too much time to go back home and come back.
- Triple trouble.
- Will you stop calling them like that?
- It's true. Everyone says it. They always do something.
- So? They are normal boys.
- Are you on their side?
- No, but I don't want to mess with them. Nothing is interesting about triplets. Why do you care so much?
- They use girls. Be careful.
- They don't even know that I exist.
- I won't be so sure.
- Look. I went through Kian. Nothing can break me more.
- I'll keep your back. Always call me if you need help.
- Sure. Now, I want to enjoy my drink without thinking about boys.
She managed to stop talking about that. We separated after the end of the second class. I went home. I might do some of my work now. I still have time. I don't want to think about it later. Also, I might get caught up with other things. I have to go to work tonight. My parents said they might come to visit me.
- Hey, dad. Are you enjoying the free day off of work?
- Yes. I can do some things for myself.
- Do you need help? I have free time.
- Thanks, but you can't assist me today.
- Sad.
- Why don't you go out with Addie?
- I was with her before I came home.
- Then I don't know what to tell you.
- Nothing. Do you want to try my coffee?
- What is your coffee?
- It's good.
- I'll give it a try. What will you add except for the coffee?
- You'll see. Be patient. I'll be ready in five minutes.
It's not about the coffee but what you add after it. That might sound weird. I add a tiny bit of caramel. Then I put one teaspoon of milk. There is no sugar. The caramel is sweet enough. Dad was impressed. He told me to make him coffee from now on. I don't mind. We talked for a while. Later, everyone went to do their tasks. Addie and I saw each other an hour ago, but she called me.
- Yes?
- Open what I sent to you.
- Give me a second.
- Do you see it?
- I do. What is this?
- It's a great program at our university. We can participate.
- Cool, but I can't do it.
- Why not? I wanted us to be together. You can't cut me off.
- Trust me. I want to do it, but I won't have time.
- Then quit your job. No one made you go there.
- Can I decide this? Please.
- Fine. I was hoping we could do something together.
- We still can do that. I'll let you pick an activity.
- That will take me some time.
- You are a smart cookie. I know you can think of something.
I finished the university work I had. I decided to rest a little bit before we went for dinner. Technically, I'll work, and my parents will eat. I'm ok with that. There is a reason why I wanted his job. It makes me feel good about myself. Mom came home around 5 pm. I guess she managed to go from work early.
- Hey, you are home.
- Yes. My boss let us one hour early. I had to do some things.
- We'll go out for dinner, right?
- Sure. I promised you that. We can stay until your shift ends.
- I have to stay there until midnight.
- Your dad won't mind this at all. You know him.
- Yes, I do. Well, you still have to order something.
- I can eat very slowly. Is that ok?
- Why not?
- If you don't want us there, say it. We'll go home.
- No, it's ok. I won't have much time for you, but it's fine.
- Can't you at least eat with us? We'll pay for your food.
- Mom, it doesn't work like that. I have to work, not to eat.
- Don't you eat there?
- I do, but not with the guests.
- Alright. I'll take a shower and start getting ready.
My parents and I went to the restaurant on time. I told the girls that I would take their table. I'm sure they want me as their waitress. I took their order and went to the kitchen. The salads were done in twenty minutes. It's time for the main meal. My parents ordered two glasses of red wine. I offered them our best seller. Let's say that many people like it.
- The wine is so good. You have to tell me the brand. We might take some for home. - my mom said
- You can check the wine list in the menu. Yours is number five.
- I see. It's good.
- That is the best-selling one.
- I like the food. Your chef is great. - my dad said
- I'll tell her that.
- You are doing a great job. - my mom said
- Yeah, can you not say this?
- Why?
- Because I prefer to hear it from people who are not my parents.
- I don't see anything wrong with that.
- Mom, you say this for every single thing that I do.
- In that case, I'll thank you for adding your tip later.
- Please, don't.
- Don't you keep the tips?
- I do, but you'll give me more than I deserve. After all, I'm only a waitress.
- So? I liked your services.
- I have to go back to work. I'll see you at home. - I said and left
I love my parents, but they make it seem as if I'm better than the rest. That is not true. All the girls here work equally. My parents decided to wait for me. I'm sure that was my dad's idea. Nothing will happen to me. I can take care of myself. The walk home was silent. I had nothing to say. That was my casual shift. I didn't treat them differently than any other customers. I went home, straight to my room. I want to lay down and fall asleep. Mom came to check on me.
- Are you tired? You only worked for a few hours.
- No, I'm not tired. I only want to sleep.
- Because you are tired.
- I won't argue with you for that.
- Be honest. Why do you want to work? We can give you more money if you need it as long as you spend it on something good.
- We have talked about it. I don't need your money.
- Then?
- Why do you want me home so much?
- Because first-graders don't work.
- Who told you that? It's not true. I have seen people younger than me working.
- Can't you stay at home with us?
- During the other time, I'm at home.
- Yes, but you go out when we come home. I can't see you that often.
- Mom, you'll be fine. Dad is here. He will entertain you.
- If I leave this to your dad, I better stay alone.
- I'm sure the two of you will be fine. Please, don't get pregnant while I'm gone.
- Don't worry. I'm too old for this.
- It's never too late. You don't know what can happen.
- I'm sure it won't be this.
- Go to sleep and stop worrying about me.
- Fine. Good night and sweet dreams.
- To you too.
She loves me. That's why she said all this. I understand her, but she can't always keep me by her side. I have to do things and evolve. Mom forgot that she and my dad are the only reason I'm in the local university. I did this for them. Let's say that I wasn't sure if I could deal with living alone. I'll move out one day, but I have enough time for this. Right now, I don't want to think about this. I have many things in my head. I don't know for how long I want to work. If I ask my parents, they will tell me to quit the next day. That won't happen. I hope that I can manage to deal with my job and university.
